Fantastic Trip to Alaska

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 8 days in the 'Alpine Tree House' in Girdwood. 8 amazing days. The house was exactly as the name suggests. I felt I was really staying in a tree house. The house has many really wonderful features, my favorites being the picture windows and sky lights that flooded the home with natural light. The heater stove in the living room added warmth to the home, made it cozy in every way. The wrap around balconies and patios were wonderful to look at and added such beautiful nooks to sit in.

The house is equipped with all that one would need for a comfortable stay, a well equipped kitchen, toiletries, washer/dryer, detergents, paper products and much more.

The plentiful breakfast goodies were certainly welcome as we didn't have to run out to buy groceries upon arrival. There were roasted coffee beans and a coffee maker to wake the house up to the wonderful smell of the fresh brew.

There was a beautiful hike and a waterfall a few minutes walk from the house. The beautiful Alyeska resort is a few minutes drive from the house. The tram ride up the mountain is really a must do. The Turnagain arm drive from Anchorage to Girdwood is stunningly beautiful.

Last but not least was the amazing cruises that John took us on in his brand new boat. It is the cleanest boat I have ever seen. John took us out on the boat from Whittier. One trip was to see the glaciers and icebergs and the other one was a fishing trip, where my husband caught his 40 lb halibut. He is just starting his business as a captain. I am sure he will do exceptionally well given that he is generous, knowldgable and accommodating with his tours. I wish him great success.

The best part of the trip was meeting Gail and John. They are amazing people. Helpful, kind and generous. They are a great team. Their advice on where to go and what to see in the area was spot on. I felt so sad upon leaving Girdwood and saying good bye to the house and its wonderful owners. I would like to visit Girdwood every year.

  • 5 of 5

My wife + I had a wonderful time @ Girdwood, staying at Gails beautiful home. Gail's home was very well kept, extremely clean + felt like we were at our own home. More than enough towels + very well thought out home. My wife + I also took a beautiful boat ride with Gail to the Glaciers with a total of 8 people + WOW, what a fine day!! We will never - ever forget this day. Gail is an excellent host + does everything possible, to make you feel @ home. I recommond her house to everyone, who wants a clean stay in a beautiful home.

Best VBRO Stay Ever!

  • 5 of 5

There is so much that worked together to make our stay at the Alpine Treehouse perfect that it's hard to think of everything. Gail is the most welcoming agent that we've ever had, and they've all been great, so that's really saying something. Having the kitchen so well stocked made everything easier, and the Bakeshop goodies were delicious and plentiful.

The location was gorgeous and the perfect home base for all of our adventures. With the forested views from every window, it really did give the feeling of being in a treehouse. There were seven of us, and we never felt the least bit cramped. (We rented the house and the cute bunkhouse and had room to spare.) Gail also gave us several ideas for activities, and we enjoyed each one of the them. She'd make an impressive tour guide!

We soon found out that the other reviews mentioning the comfy beds were spot on. My husband said his back felt better when we left than when we got there in spite of the many hikes we went on.

In closing, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in their stay in this home. It's beautiful, comfortable, immaculately clean, perfectly located, and extremely well stocked. We are returning to a different part of Alaska this fall to attend a wedding, and my 4-year-old granddaughter is so disappointed that we can't stay at "The Treehouse" when we return - she loved it, too!

Thank you, Gail, for welcoming us to your home!

Perfect stay and gorgeous house

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect weekend house for a party of seven, including two small children. We were hosting a very respected out of town teacher, and she said the place was amazing. It was a warm, relaxing, spacious yet cozy house with all the touches that were incredibly beautiful and a home away from home, and with a great energy, and impeccably clean. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The baked goods were generous and delicious, with a wonderfully stocked kitchen in which we were able to prepare a great meal. It felt great to be nestled in a quiet, residential area amidst the trees, and it had a powerfully welcome feel to it. The bunkhouse was perfect for the family with kids, and it was nice to have the possibility of the sauna. Thank you to Gail for being a wonderful, kind, fair and accommodating host. We between definitely want to come back!

Colorado Family

This home was extremely clean, spacious and beautiful. There wasn't a room in the home that didn't have windows to exploit the lush and green rainforest. The kitchen was well furnished with cooking utensils, seasonings, plates, wine glasses, drinking glasses, pots and pans. There were cookies, muffins, eggs, milk, cereal - all that a weary traveler could ask for to get started. The bathrooms were very clean and well supplied with shampoo and soap. The beds were incredibly comfortable (I want one!). Gail was very accommodating, professional and friendly; she made us feel valued and very welcome.

The waterfalls there are well worth viewing; it was breathtaking. This property has a very private feel to it, however, should you meet any of the neighbors during your walk to the waterfall, they are very friendly and warm.

We discovered a broken light switch in one of the bedrooms. When we reported it, the issue was resolved the following day while we were boating on Prince William Sound in Girdwood. Any needed maintenance was seamless to us. In essence, the service was excellent.

My husband is an amputee but has no issues with steps; he wears a C-leg. I only mention this to others who may have issues with walking in particular. You will have approximately 10 steps to get to the front door. Once inside, you will have seven steps that lead to a platform and then another seven steps to the main floor. Just be aware. Otherwise, good exercise! :-)

This is an outstanding place to stay for a very comfortable vacation.

Guest: Western New York seniors visiting our Alaskan

  • 5 of 5

The realtor's mantra "location, location, location" also applies to the Alpine Treehouse. It proved to be ideally situated for our daily trips to the Anchorage for the Nike Site hike and Museum visit; also for heading south to Portage and the Salmon Run viewing site and the Alaskan Wildllife Conservation Center. Seward, Whittier and Prince William Sound, places we previously visited and hope to visit again are easy to get to from this beautiful, clean and comfortable house. We hope to return here someday.

We recommend the Indian Meat Company (about 10 miles away) especially for the reindeer sausage. We also picked up lots of other goodies - I brought home salmon from there.

Gail recommended the Double Musky and we all loved it. - 5 stars. We were unable to get reservations at 7 Glaciers - guess we'll just have to come back.

Breakfast the first day included the sour dough bread, muffins, eggs, juice, etc. etc. that Gail provided for us. Such a welcome surprise that we didn't have to run out first thing in the morning. A lovely welcome after our long, long journey.

This was a perfect house for our visit to catch up on the lives of our three adult family members and see a few sites not previously visited in the area.

Thank you Gail for providing such a nice get away. We are happy to recommend it and have told some of our family members to keep it in mind for future trips to Alaska.
