Merano has been a famous Thermal Spa town in South-Tyrol for the last 150 years, well known all over the world for its mild Mediterranean climate. It was the meeting-place of the European reigning families before the First World War and has remained up to our days a much desired holiday destination. Its winter promenade invites you in winter to leisurely sit, during the midday hours, in the open-air even in your shirt-sleeves , surrounded by the many palms and enjoying the warm sun-rays. Merano is a much-loved holiday resort in summer as well as in winter. In summer Merano invites you to explore the landscape in the many surrounding valleys admiring the Dolomites on foot or on the bike, the protected Natural Parks or the lovely lakes. The 2000 years old historic centre has lots to tell you about its past.The Viennese Cafes and the Italian Restaurants are a special attraction like are the traditional South Tyrolian small old inns which serve dishes cooked based on old family recipies
Golf: Very near to Merano there are two idyllically situated golf links. One lies 3 miles from Merano, surrounded by fruit orchards and wine-yards in the Valley of the river Adige. The other lies at a distance of 8 miles from Merano, in the Valley of the river Passirio, surrounded by meadows, fields and forests.
Ski: Merano 2000, which we here call our town mountain, was laid out at 2000m from sea-level in a way that all the skiing-slopes descend to the south. It is a real skiing paradise for our guests and for ourselves. Can be reached in 15 minutes even by bus from Villa Curacao. But there are excellent skiing conditions also in all the valleys which end in Merano and which can be reached in a short time, like the Ulten Valley, Passirio Valley, Nons Valley, Venosta Valley with its glacier.
