We stayed here for four days and loved it! We came down to fish the Homer Winter King tournament and had a blast! Thanks for a great stay we will be back next year.
My husband and I shared this apartment with my sister and her husband while we were in town for a wedding. We were thrilled to drive up and see this cute little apartment with a view! The apartment is clean with the perfect amount of space for two couples. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked. There was plenty of reading material on Alaska along with some personal recommendations of things to do and places to go written by the hosts. As first time visitors to the area, this was very helpful. There was even a take a book/leave a book thing - which, as a book lover, made my heart happy. I didn't see a moose on the property while there, but I did get to see the glacier every morning (and night because it NEVER gets dark in Alaska, ha!). Anyway, all in all, this was a great place to stay at a great value. Highly recommend. The only thing I would mention - the place has well water. Kinda stinky water which is weird to shower in and I wouldn't drink it. BUT, the owners leave you a 5 galloon bottle of water to use!!
The view is breathtaking and the apartment is outstanding. The great grill and hot tub were a nice surprise. The hosts are also exceptional. The icing on the cake was the 160 lb Halibut we caught. Homer was the highlight of our 10 day Alaska fishing trip.
Some friends and I wanted to spend a few days in the Homer region. As a last minute booking, we were delighted to rent this suite! Bobbi was easy to contact, extremely helpful with directions to the house and suggestions of where to go/what to eat/what to see, and she even leant us a stick of butter!
You'll be staying in the bottom level of a two-level house. Bobbi and her husband live on the top level, although there quite a bit of privacy between the units. Although the listing does not mention it, there is wi-fi available in the house.
We spent four days at the property, and were very pleased with our stay. The property is very comfortable, and is well furnished. The view across Kachemak Bay is spectacular, though somewhat obstructed, and the moose on the front yard one morning was a true Alaska experience. Our hosts were very accommodating. The only suggestion we have is to install black out window coverings in the bedrooms. It never really got dark at night while we were there, and we did have trouble sleeping....kind of like having jet lag without the usual big time zone difference. We definitely hope to return when we return to Homer. Great value.
There's nothing not to like about Bobbi and Dale's immaculate ground floor apartment outside Homer. It's a quick trip into town for the action on the Spit, visits to the galleries and other sites. You couldn't ask for a more peaceful retreat at the end of the day. Booking, confirmation and payment were efficiently and courteously managed by Bobbi. This is among the best values we've experienced with VRBO and will be our first choice if we get an opportunity to return to Homer.
