Available May through September. This home is nestled in a beautiful, wooded area of Northern Michigan. Located at 1226 Rams Road, Indian River, it sits at the south-end of Mullett Lake in Pigeon Bay.
The house has both a furnace and gas fireplace/stove. There is a full kitchen, dining area, closed in porch (ideal for evening card-games) and large deck. You will find the house to be clean and furniture in good condition. There is one downstairs bedroom with a double bed. There are two upstairs bedrooms. One has a double bed, bunk-bed set and one twin bed. The other has a double bed and sofa-bed. The living room also contains a sofa-bed. There is also a sleep cot available.
The evening sunsets take your breath away. The lake in front of the house is sandy, shallow and ideal for children. Lake depth in front of the house for approximately 100 yards is 24-36' deep. The boat dock and lift are available for your use. (Boat lift accommodates flat bottom fishing or ski boats under 3,000 pounds. Deep draft - V bottom boats will need to use the mooring approximately 75 yards off the boat dock.)
A gas barbeque grill, picnic table, fire pit, horseshoes, volleyball/badminton, two kayaks and lawn chairs are available for your enjoyment by the lake.
Mullett Lake is a 10-mile long, spring-fed, crystal–clear lake. Pigeon bay is calm and ideal for fishing (walleye, bass, pike, trout, perch and muskie) or serious water skiing. Pontoon, water ski and fishing boat rentals are nearby.
The lake is part of the great inland waterway, by which one can boat 45 miles through a wildlife-filled, scenic chain of lakes and rivers starting in Pickerel Lake to Lake Huron through two locks, four large lakes and three beautiful rivers.
There's a local bald eagle that we see on a regular basis either soaring above the lake or catching fish.
If you enjoy river tubing, kayaking or canoeing, be sure to plan a ride down the Sturgeon River which can be arranged through Big Bear Adventures in town.
It’s only a short drive to Indian River or Cheboygan, only 40 minutes to Petoskey or Harbor Springs and 30 minutes to Mackinac. A trip to Mackinac Island is a recommended day-trip activity where travel is only allowed by foot, horse-drawn carriage or bicycle. The scenery and historic setting is wonderous.
Other area attractions include the famous 'Cross in the Woods,' the world's largest crucifix carved from a giant 55-foot California Redwood.

This home was built in the 1980's by my parents and was their retirement home. We have spent time there every summer ever since. My parents could no longer live alone in the woods and had to move into senior living. Thus, our reason for renting. This is our family's favorite place in the world!
We think this is paradise.
We spend our time mostly on the water, skiing, jet-skiing, sailing, swimming. Every year we take a trip to Mackinac Island for a leisurely bike ride around the Island. We also do an annual tubing or canoe trip down the Sturgeon River. We are always sure to go to town for the best pizza/Italian dinner at Vivio's. Also, just a lot of relaxing.
Bev's description is very good other than what I've noted below:
The boat lift wouldn't work on my boat and the water was very shallow. I provide info on my boat and expressed how important the lift was to me before we decided on the location. When I called Bev she handed me off to her Husband and he said it was for a flat bottom boat. You also have to wade a long ways over logs and thick sea weeds to get to a depth to swim. We've stayed on this lake for many years and it's our favorite!
Overall we had a very enjoyable week and caught several northern and walleye. Even saw the bald eagle flying a large fish over the bay!
The owner was great to work with on a super short notice, not to mention LABOR DAY WEEKEND. The house and property were perfect for a fishing trip with 10 friends. Easy commute to the Indian River and the Inn Between Bar and Grill. We even made friends with the neighbor and had a great time with a late night Bon fire at his house. The house has everything you need and a great sun porch for euchre, poker, etc. I have a 150 hp outboard and had no problem pulling up to the dock. We also rented a pontoon close by and had plenty of room to dock that as well. I highly recommend this house and will definitely rent again from Beverly.
We really enjoyed our stay on Mullett Lake. The home has everything you could need for a great vacation. Plenty of room for a large family (we had 7 very comfortably) Water in the cove remains calm no matter the weather (which is great if you bring a boat so it doesn't get beat up) Great location with a lot of privacy. Kitchen is well stocked with any utensil you would need. Inside fireplace was a nice touch to take the chill off of a cold night. Nice array of TV's throughout with plenty of movies, games, etc. We had a bonfire almost every night. Fantastic view of the sunset. Everything was very clean. I really can't say enough good things about this place. Mullett Lake is one of our favorite spots, and we most definitely plan on returning. Bev was very accommodating and answered every call & question that we had. Thanks again for a fantastic week!
Advertised accurately, the cottage was very clean, comfortable and accommodated our large group, ranging from age 3 up to age 70. There were many amenities, games and water toys that we all enjoyed. We enjoyed our days boating and our evenings around the fire pit. The bay was especially nice and calm. I highly recommend this vacation cottage rental.
If you are seeking restaurants in the area, I suggest Vivio's Italian restaurant and Douglas Lake Steakhouse.
Perfect for our 2nd annual family vacation! Room enough for all 8 of us, including a 2 year old!!! Bedrooms upstairs were great for putting kids to bed and still able to move about the house all evening. It was hot a couple days and the fans were needed, but worked fine in the upstairs, lots of windows. Had 2 visitors and they were no problem sleeping 2 more. Mostly spent as much time as possible outdoors, we had a great week. Fished, played boated, the part lagoon on lake was fun, and the kayaks were loved by all. I think this vacation house just felt like it was for us!
Our family just returned from an absolutely fabulous vacation at this property on Mullet Lake and couldn't have been happier.
From the moment we walked in we were pleased.
The property is incredibly clean and spacious.
The kitchen is well stocked and there was plenty of room for our family of 9 adults to eat together around the dining room table. We cooked together, ate together, hung out in the yard together, played volleyball and games. In the evening we enjoyed the firepit, watched the sunset and just hung out together. It was a wonderful week away.
Ducks and swans and loons and even a bald eagle live on the lake. INCREDIBLE.
The lake is shallow and sandy. The kayaks provided are very nice and gave us a chance to experience the lake even though we don't have a boat (there are pontoons and boats available to rent at the marina). The town of Indian River is close by and Ken's Market is a great place to get groceries.
We took day trips to Mackinaw Island, Mackinaw City, Charlevoix, Fisherman's Island, and St. Ignace all of which were close enough for easy day trips.
We 9 adult family members vacationing together, if we had really wanted to bunk it up we could've easily fit 4 more adults.
All correspondence with the property owner were pleasant - she was very patient and helped us out tremendously.
It was a great vacation and great property. I would highly recommend this property and Mullet Lake for your Northern Michigan vacation plans.
