About Denise and Dorene

Austin born sisters, Dorene and Denise have lived in Austin their entire lives. Our family and friends live here and we can not imagine living anywhere else! Austin is one of the hottest spots to visit in the nation. The combination of nature, live bands, and great food (Tex-Mex, barbeque, eclectic)...we just love Austin! We have owned and managed properties for 12 years and enjoy giving people a comfortable beautiful place to live and stay.

Denise and Dorene purchased this house in 2002

Why Denise and Dorene chose Austin

This property was handed down to us from our father. He had the foresight to buy the property in the 1960's and it is very special to us. Our entire family grew up and attended school in this area and many friends remain. We have loved seeing how this area has changed and grown over the years and we can quickly tell you where something 'used to be'.

We have remodeled the entire house and turned it into a South Austin gem. It is in the perfect location since it is conveniently located to downtown, restaurants, entertainment, nature walks, and shopping. Yet, you can still relax and get away from it all by sitting on the back deck with your favorite beverage.

What makes this house unique

The feeling in the house is one of being in a safe place and calmness. From the kitchen, bathroom and back deck you catch glimpses of the high rises of downtown. There is native landscaping and a large fenced in backyard with a three tiered awesome deck. Located in a good location with speedy access to other areas in Austin via highways or major roads.

Great home, great location, great owners

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely home. I stayed here on a girls weekend get away.

Doreen was great to work with. She answered all my questions and did some research on a few as well.

The home is cozy and the backyard and Hippie room are spectacular.

The house has everything you need, the beds are comfortable, the family room is cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed.

Can't beat Torchy's being next door.

We rented bikes and toured the loop around the lake/river. Spent the afternoon on S. congress street. Went to the Paramount Theater to celebrate Jerry Jeff Walkers birthday and Saw the bats fly from under the S. congress bridge. We also checked out the mosaic bridge! A great little known gem that everyone must check out while staying here.

We chose not to eat in any restaurants, but instead either had food in the bungalow or had meals from Food Trucks... How can you not eat from food trucks while in Austin?!

Can't wait to come back! Great place!

Fantastic location, very nice

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was warm enough to use the back deck and "crib", what we called the sheltered area off the patio for hanging out. We met piglet the neighbor dog and even got to see him in his baby snuggly as he went off for a ride on the moped with goggles. Everyone so friendly.

Having torchy tacos next door was awesome. We walked to Austin Brew Gardens twice and thought south first street way better than south congress for food.

Everything neat and clean and cute, but the living room furniture a bit uncomfortable for 4 people to lounge in, and I detected a smell of mold/mildew in near the sink in the kitchen...not bad and probably typical for a home of that vintage. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The location and amenities can't be beat.

Convenient cozy cottage with comfy beds

  • 4 of 5

This cozy cottage with very comfy beds was conveniently located to downtown between 1st and S. Congress streets. Torchy's Taco is next door so a quick tasty meal is only a few steps away if you don't feel like cooking. It was a pleasant surprise that the house was so quiet! The house also has an inviting outdoor deck and a bar area for relaxing and eating outside. Unfortunately the weather was cold and drizzly during our stay, so we postponed much of our outdoor itinerary, but enjoyed a play at Long Center, visited the shops, restaurants (we recommend the Magnolia Cafe for breakfast and Wahoo's for lunch) and food trucks along S. Congress, and ventured into downtown to explore the Driskill Hotel (best breakfast!). We also explored Mount Bonnell on our way our of town with its lovely vistas of the river and unique architecture of the homes in the area. We'll be back to take in some kayaking, zip lining and horse back riding this summer! Thanks Dorene!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Five of us ladies stayed in the house for four nights to celebrate our 40ths and experience Austin. It was perfect. The deck in the back is dreamy and the home is clean and cozy. Dorene was helpful and made our stay perfect. There was a binder with a lot of good information and recommendations for visiting Austin. We made the 15 minute walk to the Soco area for shopping and food, and took a cab downtown and to some different music venues around the city, never paying fore than $25 dollars. Great little neighborhood, and enjoyed many Torchy's tacos, as it was right next door.

My new Home, Away from Home!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was nicely decorated and well furnished. I took many items to cook with, just in case, only to find everything I needed to be furnished. The photos of the patio area sold me when I booked and was even more pleasant in person. Absolutely loved Torchy's Tacos being next door as well. Felt so at home during our stay. I will definitely return in the future.
