Our family nightmare on June 2-9, 2012 at #360202

Ida, I just now (June 10, 2012) had an opportunity to review and respond to your Friday, June 8, 2012, voice mail message regarding my stay in your Ocean City, Maryland condo during the period June 2-9, 2012. As I indicated in our telephone conversation on June 2, 2012, when I actually arrived at your condo, I was very disappointed in the condition that it was in. This message account is a repeated and more specific account of the unsatisfactory condition of your condo. Upon entering the condo there was numerous spider-webs with dead spiders in the dining and living area corners, food particles on the kitchen table and eating floor area, food in the refrigerator and freezer, food particles on the kitchen floor and cooking utensils, food particles on both sides of the refrigerator, food particle on the coffee table in the living room, clothes in the dresser draws and on the back of the bathroom door (at first I thought they were from a previous tenant, however after speaking to the owner it appeared they were the owners family clothes), the master bathroom toilet seat was filthy, shower curtain in the master bathroom was torn, light bulbs in the master bathroom were burned out, the TV and component system were covered in dusk in the master bedroom and living room, the deck door to the street was unlock, use baby shampoo and other baby items were in the second bathroom, the second bedroom comforter had a fowl stench, but what was most disturbing was the entire carpet was totally stained and in certain areas the owner’s attempted to cover the stains with area rugs. I find the owner’s verbal explanation regarding the carpet and other matters unacceptable. To indicate that she had the carpet cleaned sometime in the past and the stains in the second bedroom by the TV could not be removed does not explain all the different type of stains throughout the condo. We removed some of the stains with ease and covered others with plastic. There is absolutely no justification for the condition the condo was in when the owners rented it to us for the period June 2-9, 2012. The owners deciding NOT to have carpet that supports hi traffic, cannot now and never explain away the carpet condition. We had to spend all day on Saturday and part the day on Sunday of our much needed vacation attempting to clean the owner’s condo to some sanitary condition. We own a rental property in another part of the USA and have never subjected tenants to this type of living conditions. Thank go
Owner's Response: The traveler expressed that the condo was not clean but had he expressed the severity I would have immediately sent over the cleaning company again. I am very concerned and always try to accommodate any traveler to make sure that they are happy and enjoying their vacation. I tried to accommodate and remedy the situation upon them leaving our condo and they rejected any attempt we made. My concern is always to try my best to make sure the traveler is happy and enjoying their vacation. Please allow the other reviews to speak on my behalf for our vacation home.
