Hnífsdalur is a very small village just 5 km from the town of Ísafjördur. There are no shops in Hnífsdalur but there are shops and all services available in Ísafjördur as well as an airport with regular fights to and from Reykjavík.

Great location in Paradise

We stayed in this beautiful home for 3 nights. The location is spectacular, and the town fabulous. We had the best time. It is one of the places I always think about when I think back on my trip. There is a great sidewalk all the way into town, and running into town and back in the early mornings is a great memory. The scenery will steal your breath.

The accommodations were spacious, comfortable, and well-stocked. We could not have asked for more. Everything we needed was there. The kitchen was well stocked with utsensils and plates, cleaning supplies etc.

My one issue with our stay was having to clean up before we left, because our flight was very early in the morning. So it was a little hard, but that is our issue, and not an issue with the actual home!

We had a great time and I'd recommend to anyone.

We stayed in Hnifsdalur past summer. The house is very spacious, light and superclean! The hosts, Icelander Ricky and his American wife Judi have put a big effort to make this house feel like home. It is just a short drive from the small city of Isafjordur, where an excellent fish restaurant can be found in the oldest wooden house of Iceland. Commercial airport too! We loved to go hiking in the mountains and along the shoreline. We went to sea to watch whales, dolphins and literally 1000's of seabirds. Angling can be done 1 minute from the house. You want to catch fish in 1 minute? guaranteed in Hnifsdalur! Open air swimming is just a few minutes away. A lot to do if you'd like to; still you get away from it all. It is the end of the world and the beginning of it as well. Wonderful!
