My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and loved it. It's the perfect size for 2 people. The house is one large square room with kitchen, giant bed, and a sofa facing a TV. The bathroom is carved out of this space and the shower (outdoor) is off the bathroom -- great shower! Then of course there is the pool, pool deck, and deck facing Coral Bay --all lovely spaces. The house is very well positioned to get to the East End, Waterlemon, Salt Pond, and Maho beaches. It's a steep and curvy but short (less than 5 minutes) drive to Skinny Legs. You could walk if you are willing to tackle a steep walk back afterwards. The house and it's outdoor spaces all feel very private. Be ready for lots of chicken, goat, and donkey vocalizing in the area! It can get a bit stuffy at night. We tried to use the AC as little as possible to conserve energy and enjoy the fresh air, but had it on a few nights and it worked so-so.
We enjoyed Skinny Legs for burgers and a very casual atmosphere. We also got sandwiches from Pickles in Paradise for lunch on the way to the beach a few days. Coordinating with James, the property manager was very easy.
We made Harbor Lights our home for a week and we didn't want to leave! The pictures really do tell the story of this villa. We loved hanging by the pool or on the front porch, watching the boats and relaxing. The pool was so refreshing and the house is very private. There are several great markets in Coral Bay, so don't feel like you have to go into Cruz Bay for shopping - the prices are comparable. We loved Skinny's, Shipwreck and Aqua Bistro for meals - on Friday nights, Aqua Bistro has a seared rare tuna special that is TO DIE FOR! You can't go wrong if you are a couple or a single person looking for pure relaxation. We loved the outdoor shower. The property manager, Marc, was awesome to deal with and we will certainly be returning. The beaches are incredible, and we loved snorkeling EVERYWHERE! We did cook in a couple of times, and the grill and appliances were fine.
We stayed here for six days and it was pretty great. We walked to Skinny Legs, enjoyed nature's wake up calls in the form of roosters, donkeys and goats - who would walk along the side of the house. There is a lovely patio, a kitchen with a large refrigerator and it's in a good location for visiting the various beaches on the island. Plus it's nice to have your our pool. Miss Lucy's was great as was Salt Pond for snorkeling.
My husband and I spent five nights at Harbor Lights as a kind of second honeymoon/early 5th wedding anniversary trip. The cottage itself could not have been more perfect- clean, modern, and equipped with everything we needed. Having never been to St. John, we loved everything about the island, and especially loved the seclusion that Coral Bay and Harbor Lights offered. Our time spent at the cottage was mostly spent in the pool or on the deck, enjoying the amazing views of Coral Bay Harbor and Hurricane Hole. The breeze was always awesome, and we even enjoyed being woken up by the noises of donkeys and roosters nearby. You cannot beat the view of Coral Bay waking up each morning. We ate and drank at Skinny Legs and enjoyed meeting locals and being off the beaten path. The drive to the other side of the island (Cruz Bay) took awhile, but we loved taking the scenic route on the North side of the island and deciding which beach we would snorkel at that day. We hope to get back to St. John very soon and would stay at Harbor Lights again in a heartbeat!
We just loved harbor lights! Our second time to St. John and we knew we wanted to be close to skinny legs..it was nice to be able to walk there. The house has everything you need. The bed was comfortable, the pool was refreshing and the porch was so relaxing. It was nice to have the air conditioning for sleeping and to close everything up so you couldn't hear the roosters! Salt pong had awesome snorkeling! And crabby's had great snorkel gear we rented for the week.
We rented Harbor Lights for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. It was our first time visiting St. John for a full week. Harbor Lights was a great location for access to all the beaches, Coral Bay resturants and about 25 minutes to Cruz Bay. The views were amazing and so were the sunrises. We liked the private pool but didn't use it as much as we thought we would. It was to cool at nights, but if we were there during the day it was very refreshing. We ate breakfasts in and packed sandwiches to take to the beach during the day. We loved the cooler and beach chairs the villa provided. The outdoor shower was wonderful! Comfortable bed, free wifi, and all the kitchen appliances you needed were there. Breakfast on the deck overlooking the Harbor was beautiful. We snorkeled every day, took Stormy Petrel boat trip to "The Baths" and enjoyed all the beaches to the fullest. We hope to be back one day soon.
