Hello. My name is Kristin. When I was a child I spent a lot time at this house as it was home of my Grand parents. Now my parents, Grétar (dad) and Guðrún (mom) are the owners of the house but Í take care of the rentals in their behalf. Please stay in touch and feel free to send me an email if you have any questions.
The house war originally built by my grand parents in the 50´s. It was re-built in 2001 by my parent who also live next door. In the street are just few houses and no more houses will be built in the street as the area is protected.
The house is at a unique spot in Reykjavik. You get the feeling you are up in the country but in fact you are just few minutes from downtown. The view from the terrace is amazing!
I was amazed at the location of this house. It's jutting out of a peninsula and across the bay is downtown reykjavik. the walk into town is stunning, and the house has few neighbours, Our taxi driver informed us that one of our neibours was a 'crazy film director', I've yet to comprehend what counts as crazy in iceland, either way his creativeness can be seen in his amazing back garden which consttutes a little bay and recycled sculptures and rock mounds and is really stunning. Down the road slightly is the Art Musieum, across the way is the iceland academy for the arts, the scuplture walk starts outside the door so it felt like we were in an artists enclave. the house itself is well appointed, comfortable and was perfect for me and my 6 friends. we had a whale of a time ! ( without seeing any whales) Takk Fyrir to the owners for renting a holiday home in such a wonderful spot!
My friends and I loved this place and can't wait to visit again - we used this as a base as we explored the country - from the relaxing hot tub to the tranquil area it was a perfect place to stay for our holiday - if your are visiting Reykjavik I highly recommend you stay here.
This must be the very BEST location in Rejkyavik!
A really lovely well maintained and clean house with everything you could possibly need. We had plenty of space for our family and the view from the house and hot tub is spectacular.
The sea walk to downtown is a pleasant 20 minutes if you can resist the urge to keep stopping to take photographs, which we couldn't!
I can't recommend it highly enough and we look forward to returning.
Many thanks Kristin and Gretar for your hospitality and being so helpful. Best regards Sue and family
This was the perfect house for us on our recent trip to Reyjkavik. It was right on the water, in a beautiful location, walking distance from the city. The pool table and hot tub made for great nights, and we could even see the Northern Lights from the balcony. The house was beautiful, well kept, with plenty of space for everyone, and Kristin was so easy to work with.
I would recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a unique, beautiful house to stay in our their next Icelandic adventure! It was close to all the main sites and the city, and really made our trip special.
My wife and I spent a week at the Reykjavik Guesthouse with our two teenage sons in August 2012. The house is beautiful and in a one of a kind location. You feel like you are in your own private oasis. Sunsets at 11:00 pm over the water were awesome. It is close enough to downtown to walk, but having a car is a bonus for the frequent trips in and out of downtown. The house itself is very comfortable, clean and the hot tub and pool table were a hit with our boys. Supermarket, bakery and convenience store are all nearby. Easy access to downtown and out to the country. Make sure to check out the house next door.
We stayed here for 3 nights (2 adults & children 12 & 14) and would recommend it to anyone - it is in a lovely quiet postion near the city centre with good views over the seafront. The garden is pretty with amazing views from the hot tub (all covered in snow while we were there). We all loved the hot tub and my sons spent hours on the pool table. The house is very cosy, clean and comfortable and very well equipped. The owners live next door and were very helpful.
