As natives of Waynesville, we love living in the mountains and enjoy the casual living here. We designed our home to reflect the beauty of the environment surrounding it. We love to watch the sunsets as they change daily and we can honestly say we have never seen the same sunset twice.
Smoky Mountain Vacation purchased this house in 2007
Our family had a small cabin on this land since the 1950's where we gathered for picnics and campouts. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to build our mountain home here! It's considered one of the better views in Haywood County.
Complete privacy with no other homes in sight, unobstructed views, additional 200 acres to hike and mountain bike, the feeling of being pampered by the unique yet comfortable interior of the house, relaxing on the screened in porch listening to the sounds of the mountain and sitting around the fire pit at night.
We met family for a long weekend and the cabin couldn't have been more perfect. David (the owner) was quick to respond to any requests and very friendly and helpful. The cabin itself was immaculate. High quality furnishings (including towels, toiletries, etc). We cooked all meals there and were thrilled with the fully stocked kitchen (even basil and oregano for us to use in our spaghetti!). Very luxurious for the price. Can't wait to return in warmer weather where we can enjoy the outdoor space a bit more. Highly recommend - I've stayed in many cabins in different areas over the years, and this one is right up there at the top for both cleanliness and amenities. Road to the cabin is steep, curvy and gravel - we did fine with front wheel drive vehicles and it was worth it for the view at the top, but be prepared for the ride. Highly recommend!!!
We rented this house for a week with another couple. They brought their dog and we had a baby and a toddler. We all absolutely adored it! The place was HUGE, wonderfully maintained and gorgeous. The views changed every day, the kitchen was a dream to cook in and the fire pit provided hours of s'mores fun! Waynesville was an amazing town (preferred it to the scruffier Asheville) and we did tons of hike and waterfall visits. Can't wait to return!
My husband and I stayed here with another couple in July, and we all loved it. The owner, David, met us at the foot of the mountain to show us the way up to the cabin when we arrived. The road up is steep, but very manageable. The ride is beautiful, with lots of apple trees, flowers, and creeks. When we got to the house, we couldn't believe the view. Wow! Hands down the best we've ever experienced from a vacation rental in NC. It got even better that night, when all the lights down in Waynesville started twinkling. The yard is really big, especially for a top of the mountain home, and well tended. There is a fire pit, hammock, and gas grill that worked perfectly. There aren't too many houses on the mountain, and the ones that are there are unseen and unheard from the house. The patio furniture on the screened in porch and uncovered porch was comfortable and in almost new shape.
The house itself is PERFECT. It is spacious, and it was very, very clean. We stayed in the master bedroom downstairs, and our friends stayed in the upstairs bedroom that faces that beautiful view. Our bed was extremely comfortable, and they said theirs was, too. All three bedrooms have their own bathrooms, plus there are half baths on the main floor and in the basement. All of the bedrooms had nice, quality furnishings and linens, and the bathrooms were all spacious and really pretty. There are nice bath towels in the bathrooms, but not a lot of them. Bring extras for if you plan on swimming or rafting.
The living room/dining area is just as pictured, and the furniture was nice and comfortable. There was a big tv with a huge channel selection, and a stereo with a truly great selection of music. There were also a ton of good books in the house, and the Internet was trouble free. The kitchen was well-stocked, and all of the appliances looked brand new. There were more than enough plates, flatware, etc., for a large group. When you get tired of cooking, try Frog's Leap Public House and the Chef's Table. These were both seriously good restaurants.
The game room was fun. We played Guitar Hero on the Wii, and everything down there was in good working order.
We come to the NC mountains every year, and this is honestly the nicest place we've ever rented. Great owner and great house. We will never stay anywhere else. I can't recommend it enough. Go, Tarheels!
Just a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of the mountains! Must have been at least 50 different ones to see from the front of house. Every morning was a different awesome view and evening too. Everyone in Waynesville was so nice and helpful including the owner.. Absolutely loved it there!
The photos of this home do not do it justice. It is an amazing place with an even more amazing mountain view. The owner is so nice and very helpful. We loved every minute of our Girl's Getaway and all six of us are ready to return! Lots of good eating places and good hiking nearby. One of the best vrbo homes we have ever rented!
We have stayed at some lovely vacation properties and this property definitely stands out as one of the best. The owner was very personable and accommodating - and the property was pristine with no expense spared. From the heated bathroom floors to the fabulous gourmet kitchen and amazing views everything was perfect. We couldn't be happier and are hoping to return soon.
