Overview

Seaside House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

At the very south end of Seaside, the bungalow is away from most of the usual crowds. The beach is only 5 houses from the front door and Seaside Golf Club is across the street. Yet, a 20 minute walk along the beach or promenade will take you to the city center with its shops, restaurants and family entertainment.

Located on the southernmost street in this part of Seaside leaves you with only the sun, trees and Tillamook Head out the front window. However, this neighborhood of small cottages has amenities such as Ken and Son's Super Friendly Market, and U-Street Pub - a family restaurant/pub. Both are a block away.

Each of the two bedrooms has a queen size bed, and there is a wood framed couch in the living room that converts into a bed with a coil spring mattress.

Enjoy a home cooked meal at the vintage dining room table with 6 chairs in the dining nook, or dine at one of the many restaurants within a mile of the house. Or, drive the short 8 miles to Cannon Beach to explore more restaurants, shops and beaches.

This is a quiet part of town, especially at night. I've never heard my neighbors past 10pm, so I expect guests to be respectful of the people who live nearby. It's more family get-away than party house. Well-behaved children are welcome! There is a Graco Pack n' Play portable playpen and a high-chair at the house for your use.

About The Owner

I am a teacher in Seattle, although I have taught at Seaside High School in the past and I fell in love with the North Oregon Coast while living near the beach in 2002. In the fall and winter, I usually spend 2 weekends every month on the Oregon Coast surfing and exploring.

The Owner purchased this house in 2009

What makes this house unique

Amazing hikes begin just down the street. Hike the same 6 miles Lewis and Clark took to reach what now is Ecola State Park, along which Clark wrote, 'I behold the grandest and most pleasing prospect which my eyes ever surveyed.'

Surf the spectacular nearby surf breaks including Short Sands, Indian Beach or The Cove, which is a several minute walk out the front door.

And a great time was had by all!

We stayed here for two nights in early October of 2014 and had a great time. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds quite comfy, and the tv/movie selection was fine. The weather wasn't too bad and we were able to spend some time at the beach. Had a great dinner at Maggies...yummy crab legs! We'd highly recommend this cozy cottage!

The Bungalow was great! We enjoyed being on the south end of town, because there was less traffic than our 12th street rental last year. The walk to the beach was short and nice. We enjoyed having Ken's (a grocery store) nearby. The TV had plenty to offer between Hulu Plus, Netfix, and Angry Birds on the Roku. Doug was great work with, we will be back!

The house was close to the beach as promised, the owner was helpful and immediately available by email and phone. It was a cosy place where it had almost a camp atmosphere. Very comfortable beds.

Cute and Cozy

  • 4 of 5
This is an older home that is well-suited for vacation rental. The location is just south of Avenue U and close - but not on - the beach and promenade [the "Prom"], which is away from the crowds but close enough to everything to enjoy [it's about half mile south of the south end of the Prom (which is about a mile long itself)]. Some additional nice points: the owner and/or past renters have left LOTS of stuff in the house [pots/pans/towels/linen/crib/high chair/condiments/spices/sound system/tv/dvd player/iPhone connections, and LOTS more] that's available for use, and the owner is very friendly to deal with. Best described - simple, clean, cozy, and economical - I'd definitely spend another week here!

Great location, quiet, close to beach and Tillamook Head

  • 5 of 5
We were very happy with the bungalow, and felt very comfortable with Doug. He even stopped by to introduce himself on our first day when he was done surfing. The house is clean and comfortable. Not fancy, just a simple place that fits a vacation rental perfectly. Everything you need is there. Beds were good, and kitchen was fully stocked with all the essentials and some basic spices and tea. Even has a coffee grinder. Location is very nice, on the most southern end of the promenade where the surfers seemed to like to catch the waves (at least that week). Very, very quiet at night.

Highlight of our visit was our hike over Tillamook Head to Indian Beach at Ecola State Park. That was about 6 miles from the front door of the cottage. Then we hitch-hiked into Cannon Beach for a meal, and caught a city bus back to Seaside for $1 fare. Spent the whole day hiking and exploring that incredible forest with eight foot diameter spruce trees, and fantastic views of the lighthouse and shoreline. The hike is only moderately difficult with a good trail but lots of elevation changes. You need good boots because it will be muddy in places . My wife and I are both 60 and we did it and loved it. Total walking trip is probably between 7-12 miles, depending on whether you walk or hitch hike into Cannon Beach. We would definitely do it again, and take a little more time to take in the sights.

On the quiet side of town.

  • 5 of 5
Our stay here was the best part of our vacation. We arrived around 7:30 pm and drove our car right up to the near by beach front. We watched the surfers and threw rocks in the water before we even opened the door. The bungalow was a perfect fit for our little family. Comfy beds, easy to use DVD player, stocked kitchen, hose off the back of the house for washing off sand, quiet, private and so close to the best beach in Seaside. We walked the "Prom", looked in gift shops, got clam chowder at Doogers, got lunch at The Stand, ordered pizza from Angelina's and shopped at Ken&Son's grocery. The best part was every morning and night we would walk to the beach and make sand castles and watch the sunset while roasting marshmallows. This rental is perfectly situated. It was 10 min to Cannon Beach where we made more sand castles and 30 min to Astoria where we visited the Lewis & Clark Fort and had the best fish and chips at Fort George Brewery. We will stay here again and would recommend this rental to anybody.
