The property overlooks the entrance to Bass Harbor from the West. The harbor is about 200 yards from the east side of the property, and is visible from every room of the house.
The house is less than ten years old. It is a classic shingle style cottage, built with post and beam framing, visible in every room. The siding is grey stained cedar shingles, with white trim. A covered tongue and groove porch surrounds the living room on two sides, with two entries into the living room. The living room has large windows on three sides, with a local granite fireplace on the interior corner, with cherry shelving on both sides.
All floors in the house are heart of birch hardwood, all bathrooms are tiled, with heat in the floor.
The living room flows into an open passage leading to the stairs, the dining room and the kitchen. The dining room has three sides of floor to ceiling windows, all with an excellent view of the harbor. The dining room has a cherry dining table that seats eight. A built in cherry wood glass cabinet and bar with a wine refrigerator is in the corner. The interior wall is open, allowing communications across the passage and the kitchen.
The kitchen is separated from the passage by a peninsula that seats four for meals. The four burner propane stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave, Sub Zero refrigerator and cooking equipment including coffee maker, portable mixer, blender, and mini food processor make meal preparation a pleasure. A lobster cooking pot is available.
Off of the kitchen is an entry, with closets and the back door, which leads to a small porch and the detached garage. There is outside parking for up to two cars at the garage, with another two spaces for visitors.
Finally, behind the entry porch is a bedroom and bath suite, with two twin beds. This suite is very private, with a corridor separated with its own outer door. The bathroom has a large walk in shower.
There are two bedrooms on the second floor, both with baths. The guest bedroom has its own outdoor balcony with a splendid water view and two rocking chairs. There is a queen bed in this room with space for a portable crib, also in the house. The bath can be accessed from this room, has a tub/shower and a skylight. The laundry is found in this bath area as well.
The master bedroom has a 15 foot beamed ceiling, with water views on two sides. The bathroom includes a large walk in tiled shower and cherry cabinetry, and a skylight.
Each bedroom has its own television, and a wifi router is on the second floor, allowing high speed wifi throughout the house.
This house was built to the highest standards and with great attention to detail to serve as a retirement home.

We are parents of three daughters, all of whom love Maine. Our youngest even went to Bowdoin for college.
We have vacationed here all of our married lives, and this place is where we built our fondest family memories. It is our hope that our house could play a part in the fond family memories of our renters.
This is the only place in the United States where you can have such easy access to a world class national park, world class sailing and boating, and world class hiking and biking.
Acadia National Park offers miles of hiking and biking trails, including about 50 miles of gravel carriage roads suitable for bikes and horses. There are ocean side walks near Bass Harbor Light, picnic areas near an extensive seawall, mountain hiking trails accessed easily from the main roads, swimming in Echo Lake, boat tours to the Cranberry Islands, sail and power boat rentals, and guided ocean kayak tours. Several park museums offer programs and exhibits about the development of the park and the natural features and wildlife. Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor are each a half hour drive away and offer extensive souvenir shopping, whale watching, boat excursions and restaurants. The house also has access within a very short walk to a broad stone beach that is great for exploring.
