Casa Montana overlooks the ancient village of Alcalali. The bedrooms are on the ground level with a sunken lounge which leads to the patio and then a short flight of steps to the pool and bbq area. The 10x6 pool has roman steps and is approximately 70cm deep at the shallow end and 2.50 at the deep end.The covered bbq area is equipped with lights and a music centre. The large patio area is enclosed with balustrading thus ensuring the safety of children and animals. The gardens consist of mainly indigenous plants with potted plants throughout. The villa is powered by 22 solar panels meaning a constant supply of energy if there is a local power cut (which can occur in this area). There are 6 sun loungers and plenty of tables and chairs. There is ample parking. The villa is very private yet close to all amenities. Internet access.
Jalon Valley: The Jalon valley is renowned for its wine bodegas where one can buy inexpensive wines, ports, sherrys etc. There is also the famous Halleluya bar whose proprietor is a local eccentric. The closest supermarket is also in Jalon (distance 3 km) .On Saturdays there is a famous flea market. Alcalali has a host of bars and restaurants to choose from. The San Miguel fiestas take place in August where one can dance to live music until the wee hours. There are numerous hiking and cycling trails information for which can be obtained from the tourist office in Jalon. Further inland there are villages which are relatively untouched by tourism. Fontilles (10km) has the only existing leper colony in Europe and is most certainly worth a visit. Benidorm with its many attractions such as Terra Mitica (a amusement and theme park), Agualandia, Medieval Castle and of course its hundreds of cheap bars and restaurants is 25 km away.
Alicante and Valencia: Both Alicante and Valencia are more or less the same distance from Alcalali where one can find world class department stores and shops. Valencia also has the largest underwater aquarium in Europe by the harbor. It also hosted the 2008 and 2010 Americas Cup. Alcoy (75km) has the oldest Moors and Christian parade in Spain.
Myself and my wife Sandra live in this villa for the months of the year when it is not let. We have a camper van which we tour in at this time.
We purchased this property because of its very private location and the fantastic views. Yet we are only 2 kilometers from the village.
