Why The Owner chose Minnesott Beach

First and foremost, welcome to my newly renovated little slice of heaven.

Call My Bluff was built in 1947 and was originally a fish camp. Fishermen came to relax for a week or weekend of fishing and preparing and eating their catch. If you look above the bed in the bedroom, you can see where the stove pipe was vented through the top of the cottage to heat the fishermen. Up until the winter of 2014, the back porch was screened-in exposing the bathroom to the elements. Even though this was the quaint original structure, there were some things that needed to be modified to make this a cottage comfortable for all seasons.

Enjoy the new outdoor shower, private porch with new case windows, insulation and new windows throughout, steps to the 70’ dock below, upgraded furniture, kitchen cookware and flatware, new steps and handrails to the roadside entrance, new shady umbrella for the dining table on the riverside deck and a 32” smart TV with cable and wireless internet.

Bring your book, a fishing pole and some summer beverages, and you should be equipped for your vacation getaway at Call My Bluff Cottage on the Neuse River at Minnesott Beach, North Carolina. If you are single and need a retreat or if you are a couple seeking a romantic getaway, this is for you! For small families, it is a cozy spot if you love the river and relaxing on the screened-in porch, set for privacy and relaxation. Fishermen welcome. No pets please.

The cottage rents for $825 per week, $325 per weekend, and $100 for each additional night. The cottage will accommodate 4. Go to www.vrbo.com to view Call My Bluff. Enter the #359773. If you would like to see the larger cottage next to Call My Bluff, go to www.vrbo.com and enter the # 245297 to view Journey’s End Cottage which accommodates 8. Journey’s End is the oldest structure along this stretch of the Neuse River. Old but equipped with everything that you need to make a week or weekend vacation optimal.

What makes this cottage unique

Relaxation, fishing, a sunset walk on the waterfront, meals with a view of the Neuse River, kayaking, shopping, and dining in Oriental, Beaufort or New Bern.

Relaxing and peaceful getaway !

  • 5 of 5
This cute little cottage sits at the top of a bluff overlooking the very wide Neuse River and the views are beautiful! The cottage is clean and comfortable, kitchen well stocked. The weather was a perfect October weekend! We went out to lunch all three days, 2 in New Bern, the other day in nearby Oriental, choosing to be "home" in the evenings to have dinner and to watch the fabulous sunsets! Husband was happy during the day to fish off the pier and I to sit in the sun and read. Took the nearby ferry over to Havelock which was fun. Very peaceful, hardly anyone boating on the river, just the sound of seagulls and the river. A very nice way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! Terry, the owner, is a pleasure to work with!

Owner's Response: You have the same idea as I do Gale. Once I land at my cottage on the Neuse River it is hard to leave the peacefulness and beauty.....especially the sunsets. Going out for adventures and good food are the only reasons to leave this little haunt.
Come back again for your 26th anniversary.

Clean and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I spent 3 nights and loved every minute. The cottage was clean and comfortable. It was all and more than we expected for the relaxing time that we needed. The weather was also perfect for our stay. My wife enjoyed it so much, she wants to save her money and return for a month.

our 2nd trip to Call My Bluff!

  • 5 of 5
we visited Call My Bluff for the first time just one month ago - and had such a wonderful time that we immediately planned a 2nd trip just a month later. The weather in October was wonderful. We had the door open to the screened in porch and a couple of windows and it was perfect. Spent alot of time on the shared dock reading and watching birds and boats - didn't catch much fish this time but had fun trying! There is a brand new, very casual, breakfast and lunch place about 1 mile away giving you even more good options for eating without travelling too far. Our new home away from home! Love it!

Owner's Response: The new restaurant sounds great. The Minnesott Beach Country Club has "The Live Oak Grill" which has served as the local spot for a very nice Breakfast and Lunch. It's nice to have options.
It's wonderful to know that you have enjoyed Call My Bluff Cottage and the local fare for your second visit. Please do come back in November. The Indian summers are incredible on the Neuse River.

In a word, this is place if PERFECT! We went for a long weekend to just relax - we found a treasure! This little cottage is adorable, feels much bigger inside than it looks. It is has a great feel, lots of places to sit both inside and out- and they are all comfortable! Great industrial type lighting throughout - all with dimmer switches to create any type of ambiance you want. A dish TV with a gazillion channels along with tons of XM Radio choices. Everything you could possibly need in a cottage has been thought of. Just bring your own food and drink, and you'll be set! The concrete dock is amazing - and virtually the only dock in sight. We felt like we had the Neuse River to ourselves! Lots of great fishing right off the end and a great place to set up a chair and watch the river go by. Although we didn't take the ferry, it was fun to watch it go back and forth. Lovely golf course is right down the street along with a cafe that serves up a great breakfast or lunch. Easy to get into Oriental for dinner if you choose to go out. Can't say enough good things about the cottage, the location, the cleanliness, and the comfort of this cottage. Terry was wonderful to work with and we are already looking at going again next month. Thanks so much!

We used Call my Bluff for 6 days as a fishing retreat and it really worked well for us. It was in the perfect location for us to fish either side of the river. we had access to tackle shops and if we needed anything it was not far away. The house was far more nice than we needed. Everything was neat and spotless. It really works well for our fishing needs. Hope to be back next year. Mike and Seth

Owner's Response: Mike and Seth.....you guys took the prize this summer with that 48" Red Drum shot. It may need to be posted on my VRBO website. 40-50 lbs of fish caught from a Kayak was a true spectacle. Thanks for sharing the photos and please do plan to come back next year. You guys were great tenants!
