This lovely two bedroom, one bathroom Condo at the great oceanfront Papakea Resort (Papakea #C-402) is perfect for a family to share. At just under 1000 square feet, you have room to roam and get some privacy. The loft bedroom is outfitted with a queen bed and double size futon sofa bed for lots of sleeping options. There is a second TV (with cable programming) and a VCR up in the loft for privacy. The master bedroom has a king bed. There is even a fold out queen sleeper sofa in the living room! The living room has a TV with cable programming, a DVD player and a powerful air conditioner. The Condo is fully furnished for a relaxing and comfortable stay. All bed and bath linens are provided. There is dining for four plus on the lanai and in the dining area. The lanai also boasts a chaise lounge for reading, sunning and daydreaming.

The Condo is set back from the ocean and has a lovely oceanview from it's fourth floor vantage point. The sights and sounds of the surf suffuse the Condo. There is a wonderful view of the island of Molokai across the channel. This view is complex and ever-changing, with clouds and canyons slipping in and out of view.

The Condo is thoughtfully furnished for fun and comfort. As I live right here on Maui, I am always available to help make your stay wonderful. And, I always spend time at each of my places to ensure that your experience is a relaxing and enjoyable one. I put everything in the condo that I have ever wished on vacation, keeping in mind that Papakea attracts many people who enjoy long term stays. I even provide beach toys, a cooler, beach chairs, and beach towels for that long road to Hana or just enjoying all of Maui's beautiful beaches and golf courses.

Wonderful condo to enjoy Maui and just relax

We tell everyone about this condo, we love staying here. The ocean and pool view from the lanai is to die for. It is quiet and has everything you need for short or long stays. We have been here for 39 days and feel like we live here, there are so many amenities. The kitchen has everything you need, the beds are comfortable, lots of towels including ones for the beach. We BBQ and then eat on the lanai enjoying the view. You walk across the street to the supermarket and restaurants, plus go to the Farmers Market for pineapples and tropical flowers and many other things. There is a boardwalk which goes all the way to Kaanapali if you want. Jan is very helpful and professional, a great help with tips and any problems. We have stayed here 8 or 9 times and will be back next year. The condo is clean and well cared for. Best tip snorkel at Honolua Bay, we go several times and have seen eels and tons of fish, just go from the shore, you don't need a boat trip. The pools are sparkling clean and the grounds immaculate at the Papakea, best place in the world!

Maui vacation

Another wonderful Maui vacation! Our unit was exactly as described. It was clean, well stocked, comfortable beds and a beautiful view of ocean and grounds. We like to walk so the long beach and the board walk were visited daily. Food shopping was easy with farmers markets,Natural foods and reg. Groc. Stores close by. Many restaurants in walking distance. Our owner was always available by phone and any request was acted upon promptly.....thank you so much. Our unit had a spiral stair case to reach the loft....this was my space. Even though I'm in the not so young age group this was easily managed.
I would recommend this property to friends and family. I would most definitely return.

Huge Disappointment

First of all, the photos are old and they show two different units. Secondly, this is a one-bedroom loft and the access to the loft is somewhat challenging if you have young children or are elderly. Jan was very nice to speak with, provided lots of beach accessories and a cooler along with beach chairs. She offered to fix some of the things that were wrong, but having workmen in our unit was not my idea of a fun vacation. This unit is dated and in serious need of upgrading. The property itself is beautiful and well-maintained. The staff is kind and very efficient. The noise level at this particular location on the property was very high. Every morning at about 6:30 AM we were awakened by the sound of the trash and recycling removal trucks. The bedroom faces the street, so you get the street noise. A few of our issues: In the bathroom the toilet runs without warning, the diverter in the tub needs repair, so you hear the water run all the time, there is mold around the base of the tub and it is extended under the floor around it. Lighting in the entire unit is very poor...glaring or non existent. The screens in the bedroom keep popping out, the screen on the slider is torn and doesn't close properly. The "powerful" air-conditioning unit is not powerful (just loud) and is located behind the TV on the wrong side of the unit to be of value, but it really wasn't needed. The rollers kept falling off the dishwasher tray...inconvenient and frustrating. Not one piece of furniture or accessory (including art work) matches. It is a hodge-podge of miss-matched furniture and accessories. It is much smaller that it appears in the photos...not a big deal. However, Maui is a beautiful and a wonderful place to stay and we had an amazing visit, in spite of our accommodations.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry you were disappointed with the apartment. It is a 2BR/1BA loft apartment, which I detailed in an introductory email to you, including full disclosure about the spiral staircase. It's a 1BR floorplan with the 2nd bedroom as an open loft above the kitchen, bath and bedroom areas. The living room has 40 foot ceilings, extending into the loft. The apartment is 1,000 sf including the loft. You are mistaken when you say there are photos of other apartments on my listing or my website. I absolutely do not misrepresent my properties this way. Doing so in any way is a no-win situation. I have owned and rented this apartment for 10+ years, and would not have so many (23+) 4 to 5 star reviews if I was misrepresenting the property. Yes, some pix are older, but I keep them because they show some aspect of the apartment well, like the spiral staircase. The kitchen was remodeld in 2012, so it's not outdated. The bathroom hasn't been updated yet but it is servicable - this is next on our to-do list! I have several floor lamps throughout the apartment and the kitchen has LED can lights; I'm not sure what you mean by glaring or non-existant lighting. Secondly, I am sorry you found several maintenance issues. It really would have taken just an hour or two to correct everything; it's all been fixed now. Of course, there are matching pieces of art and furniture (eg.,the dining room set). But yes, there is not a grand theme throughout the condo. I pick up things that I think are cute or fill a need as I find it. It's not a 'Tommy Bahama' property, nor do I charge those kinds of prices for it. It's clean and comfortable, and cute too I hope. It seems to me that you are grasping for negative things to say here. We had several phone calls and email exchanges, and you did not mention anything other than the window screens and the bathtub grout. To people looking for an apartment, please consider that this is the only negative review for this property. I can't be in business renting this apartment for 10 years and be delivering the kind of horrible experience that they represent here. I have many repeat guests for this apartment, and I'm sure several would be amenible to speaking with you via phone or email about their experience here. I live here and am very responsive to my guests at all times. Oh, and one last correction - the bedroom windows face the parking lot, not the street.

We stayed at Papakea- C402 for a week and found the condo to be perfect for us (traveled without the kids). We loved having all the amenities of home and also the body/boogie boards in the condo to use. I loved having my morning coffee out on the lanai looking at the ocean. There was construction on D builiding but we were out most of the day so it did not bother us. We always found a parking spot out in front but at this time the elevator was out- not a big deal for us as we used the stairs as a form of exercise. Jan was very helpful and had almost everything we needed( we bought laundry detergent but found it on
sale at Foodland and left it for the next guest). The condo itself was pretty standard, clean, and we found the beds comfortable. There were only two of us therefore we did not use the beds in the loft. The stairs to the loft could use a fresh coat of paint and the screen door to the lanai would come off the track at times making it difficult to open or close. We have let Jan know about this- so may not be an issue for much longer. I can not comment on the A/C as we did not turn it on as we found the ceiling fans to be comfortable enough for us.
Eventhough the property is not on the beach it is only a 5-7 min walk which we did daily, and if you wanted to drive you can park at the park between Kaanapali shores resort and Honau Kai. We loved that we could walk the beachfront walk to Whalers Village and to Starbucks (towards the Marriott). We loved having Times across the street for any last minute needs. In hindsight I would have liked to check the condo for tupperware/aluminum foil/ziplock bags before we went grocery shopping as we bought them as well, and brought our travel coffee mugs to enjoy Kona Coffee on the go. We would stay at this condo again (once our kids are older to climb the stairs) as it had everything we needed and the grounds were very nice.

We loved our vacation at Papakea

We had a great vacation based at Papakea

Jan's condo is exactly as described and we had a great time in Maui.

The location is ideal for the whole West Coast of Maui and in particular is only 10 minutes from Front Street, Lahaina. The other main resort area is within easy driving distance with Kehei about 25 minutes away.

There are good amenities at Papakea, but to be honest we didn't use them as there are so many lovely beaches and interesting things to do nearby. The beaches north of Napili in particular were quiet, clean and some also had lifeguard supervision - which was very important for us.

The condo was well equipped, clean, comfortable, and had lovely views. Especially helpful were the surf boards, beach mats and seats, and other beach accessories. We were a party of two so we found the accommodation very spacious, but the living area would accommodate a family comfortably. Parking was also convenient and there is an elevator close at hand.

Shopping is also convenient with an ABC store almost next door and a large Safeway in Lahaina, but we found a good local supermarket in Napili Plaza - just 100 yards off the main highway. We reckoned the quality of items was better there - particularly the pre-cooked foods.

Finally - on activities we strongly suggest speaking to Jan about where the cheapest options for booking are. The Expedia concierge at Papakea was helpful but expensive. Above all avoid the timeshare sellers who use discount activities to snare you.

Jan - one request from the Brits - a kettle would be great so we can enjoy our precious cups of tea!

Other than the kettle :) we found everything for a great vacation and would happily return.

EXCEEDED our expectations!

the condo was well equipped for everything we wanted/needed to do... cooking our own meals was a breeze, boogey boards and snorkels, beach towesl for beach days, there was honestly MORE than we needed! Jan, the owner, was such a help and so accomodating. She was more than happy to answer our questions and make recommendations, she made us feel like we had a friend on the island =) and we're grateful for her hospitality... we highly recommend her condo at papakea! Thanks Jan.
