500 m behind the village of Gádor, surrounded by orange trees, you will find our farmhouse. At night one hears only cicadas, frogs or foxes; the stars seem for grasping near. Our vacations dwelling is tastefully arranged and contains 2 bedrooms with 2 beds each, a full equipped kitchen, living room (with 1 further sleep opportunity), shower and terrace. From here beautiful excursions into the Sierra de Gádor can be done along the Rambla (dry river course), lying directly before the house. Trips into the Sierra Nevada and to Almería (approx. 11 km) or into the nature park Cabo de Gata with its solitary beaches should stand unconditionally on the program.

Gádor is a typically Andalusian village with about 2,700 inhabitants. Purchase possibilities (bakers, Butcher and several smaller supermarkets) you will find in town. More shopping possibilities are in the near capital. In Gádor you find a public swimming pool and several sport possibilities and in the vicinity 2 Arabic thermal baths invites for relaxing. One of the most important European archaeological finding sites lies only 5 km away. Also culinary Andalusia has a few things to offer.

  • The rent contains all additional expenses, except current consumption. For each additional person, who exceeds maximum allocation, has a charge of 10% of the whole rent and must be expressly allowed. Bed linen, towels, bath-towels and final cleaning included. Not included is the electrical current consumption, its prices is actually 0.16 EUR/kWh.
  • In the case of reservation a pre-payment of 25% of the total rent becomes due. The remaining amount must be settled at the latest on the day of the arrival and the current consumption the day of departure.

How to get there: You reach our area by airplane fast from all larger European cities. The airport is only a few kilometres far away from Gádor. By car our village can be reached easily by means of an excellent road system. Coming from Granada over the motorway A-92 or from the East over the motorway N-340 and from Malaga over the wonderful coastal road N-340 (where large parts are already developed as a motorway). Almería, as Mediterranean port, receives many ships, ferries and cruises. Also there are constant ferry connections to the Spanish enclave Melilla in Northern Africa, to Algeria and Morocco.

Ski: By means of the motorway A-92 you reach in approx. 2 hours Granada and the skiing area of the Sierra Nevada lying up to 3,500 m.

Golf: In the closer and further environment there are up to 7 golf courses.

Unpretentious Spain

Initially we were worried as we saw a huge cement factory on the outskirts to Gador. However, the house itself is the other side of Gador and nicely positioned. Quiet (if you don't count the occasional round of barking) and opposite a small old fort.
Enrique has done the apartment very well - clean, spacious and well-equipped. Gador itself has almost no tourists (I think we were the only ones!) which makes it very unpretentious. Enrique will show you the local sites and tapas bars if you want. We also went to Granada (about 1-1.5 hours away) and the local Caba de Gata nature reserve (about 30 mins away).
Our main regret is that we didn't get to walk more or visit some of the local archeological sites, but that was because the temperature in August made it difficult to be out between 11am and 6pm - something Enrique was not responsible for! We might return in Spring one year.
All in all, an interesting experience.

Tolles Haus, super Vermieter, genialer Urlaub

Andalusien ist auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert! Vor allem wenn man eine so schöne Unterkunft hat kann man das Land einfach nur genießen!
Die Wohnung ist groß, sauber, voll Ausgestattet (vor allem die Klimaanlage haben wir lieb gewonnen) schön gelegen mit tollem Blick auf den Orangenhain und mit dem Auto super zu erreichen. Enrique ist nicht einfach nur ein Vermieter sondern ein wahrer Gastgeber! Beim gemeinsamen Tapasessen in Gador fühlt man sich nicht mehr wie ein Tourist sondern fast schon heimisch. Dem normalen Touristen entgehen solche Highlights sicherlich, da man ohne die nötigen Geheimtipps nicht auf die Idee käme einige der kleinen Lokale zu besuchen.
Die Umgebung um Gador bietet soviel zu sehen, dass wir mit Sicherheit nochmal wiederkommen werden (eine Woche ist einfach zu kurz). Vor allem die Cabo de Gata darf man sich einfach nicht entgehen lassen. Kultur, Sehenswürdigkeiten, Strandurlaub hier ist für jeden etwas dabei.

Tapas, Wandern und Wohlfühlen

In Enriques geräumiger, schön und vollständig eingerichteter Wohnung haben wir uns sofort wohlgefühlt. Die Beschreibung ist absolut zutreffend, die Aussicht von der Terasse über Orangenhain und Rambla einfach perfekt. Der freundliche, hilfsbereite Vermieter ist Deutscher, lebt seit 40 Jahren in Spanien und kennt die besten Ausflugsziele, Strände und Tapasbars der Gegend. Die gemeinsamen Ausflüge nach Gador und Almeria waren zweifellos Highlights des Urlaubs.
Von der Wohnung aus sind ausgedehnte Wanderungen in die Sierra Gador möglich, Ausflüge zu den Traumstränden des Naturparks Cabo de Gata oder in die Sierra Nevada, oder auch mal einfach Entspannen auf der Terasse :-) Ein Mietwagen ist auf jeden Fall empehlenswert.
Wir können die Wohnung nur wärmstens empfehlen und kommen bestimmt wieder.

Urlaub mit vielen Möglichkeiten

Winteraufenthalt im Januar und Februar 2009. Seit einigen Jahren fahren wir im Winter nach Spanien, haben aber bisher noch keinen Platz gefunden, der uns so gut gefallen hat wie Gádor und das Haus von Enrique. Wir fühlten uns gleich wie zu Hause, in familiärer Atmosphäre. In der Wohnung ist alles was man braucht, eine schöne praktische Küche, ein schönes großes Wohn- Esszimmer, und bequeme Betten. Es gibt keinen Verkehrslärm, das ist sehr wohltuend, Fahrradtouren kann man direkt in Ruhe vom Haus aus starten. Ein großer Apfelsinengarten lud zu schwelgerischem Genuss ein. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Spanien erleben - abseits vom touristischen Rummel

Die Beschreibung der Ferienwohnung entsprach voll und ganz der Wirklichkeit. Am Rande eines Dorfes kann man dort eine herrliche Ruhe genießen. Die Wohnung war sehr ordentlich und zweckmäßig eingerichtet, und der Gastgeber sehr aufmerksam und durch seine gute Kenntnis von Land und Leuten konnte er gute Tipps für Ausflüge, Sehenswürdigkeiten etc. geben. Für Urlauber, die entweder gerne wandern oder Spaß daran haben, die kleinen, wunderschönen und nicht überlaufenen Dörfer in der Nähe zu erkunden, ist dieser Standort sehr zu empfehlen. Allerdings ist es schon von Vorteil, wenn man einen Wagen vor Ort hat. Auch die Mitnahme eines Hundes dürfte kein Problem sein, da der Hausherr selber Hunde hat.
