BEAUTIFUL CABIN NESTLED IN PONDEROSA PINES, DUCK CREEK PINES AREA

Duck Creek Village Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Gorgeous Cabin - New Listing/New Owners

This light-filled and airy cabin, Red Pines Lodge, radiates hospitality and comfort, and is the epitome of 'roughing it in style'. The cabin is situated in a beautiful forest of tall Ponderosa pines, firs, and aspens, just 1.5 miles from the heart of Duck Creek Village. Outside you’ll appreciate the rustic log construction, and plenty of parking. The enormous wrap-around covered deck features a gas grill, dining for 6, and seating for all to enjoy the cool breezes, glimpses of the Pink Cliffs, or morning coffee while watching the sun rise. In the evening, sit around the backyard firepit on log benches, and make s'mores and memories under the stars.

Inside, you’ll love the striking tongue and groove knotty pine walls throughout the house, as well as the columns and railings made from native aspen. Cathedral windows bathe the Great Room in light. Here you can enjoy a cozy fire in the woodstove that sits on its stone hearth, while you relax with a book, TV, or surround-sound music. Also on the Main Level you’ll find the outsized and well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, and a gas range for the gourmet cook; the Dining area with seating for 6-8; a pretty guest bedroom with a queen bed and private door onto the deck; and a full bath.

On the upper level is a beautiful loft area overlooking the Great Room, and featuring a computer work center ready for you to enjoy the high-speed wireless (throughout the house). Also on the upper level is the huge Master Suite, with its en suite bath including a tiled jetted tub, and a separate shower.

On the lower level is a large and comfy Family Room with tv and lots of seating, and access to the outside patio area. Also on this lower level is the third bedroom (the Buckaroo Room) with two twin beds; a full bath; and the laundry room with washer and dryer.

This cabin can sleep 8 – 10 people, using the two queen bedrooms, two twin beds, the queen sofa sleeper in the Great Room, and an comfortable queen-size inflatable bed that can go anywhere (although we recommend this for children rather than adults). With three full baths, one on each level of the cabin, there is plenty of access for all. Red Pines Lodge is perfect for a family gathering or a group of friends.

The cabin sits on a level, forested lot, with easy year-round access. National Forest land is only a couple of hundred yards away, and ATV and snowmobile trails are right at hand. Hiking, fishing, biking, skiing, and a myriad of other outdoor activities are all in close proximity as well. Duck Creek, and the surrounding area, is truly a natural outdoor paradise.

Please note: The cabin has an 8-10 person maximum unless approved by owner. A per person charge may apply. We do not rent to “house parties” or unruly groups. We welcome those who will respect our cabin, and the natural environment of Cedar Mountain. If you are looking for a cabin for a smaller number of people, please ask us about Cedar Hollow, our log cabin in Strawberry Valley that accommodates 4-6 people.

Further Details - And Things to Do: Hiking, bicycling, fishing, hunting, ATV fun, snowmobiling, skiing, and horseback riding are just a few of the activities in the area. Aspen Mirror Lake and Duck Creek Pond, popular fishing spots for all ages, are just outside Duck Creek Village and within minutes of the cabin. Navajo Lake, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Brian Head Ski and Summer Resort, and Lake Panguitch are all a short drive away. The many marvels of Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Monument are each less than 45 minutes away. And only a little further away are such amazing spots as The Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (about 2 hours to the North Rim Lodge and Bright Angel), and Capital Reef National Park. For antique shopping and theater, visit Cedar City (30 mile drive), renowned for its annual Utah Shakespeare Festival in summer and early fall, held on the lovely campus of Southern Utah University.

Places to Go: Duck Creek Village is 1.5 miles to the west of the cabin. Distances from Duck Creek Village to: Aspen Mirror Lake 1/4 mile; Brian Head 23 miles; Bryce Canyon NP 42 miles; Zion Natl Park 45 miles; Cascade Falls 4 miles; Cedar Breaks NM 15 miles; Cedar City / I-15 29 miles; Escalante-Grand Staircase NM 18 miles; Highway 89, 8 miles; Kanab 49 miles; Las Vegas 198 miles; Mammoth Cave 5.5 miles; Navajo Lake 7.5 miles; Panguitch Lake 32 miles

Just ask us about things to do and places to see in the area. We enjoy being your 'tour guide', and we keep lots of guide books and information in the cabin for your use. Welcome to Duck Creek, and welcome to Red Pines Lodge!

About Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners

We live near San Diego, California, but we love this area and will never tire of exploring it. And there is no end to the wonders available to explore! This photo of the owners was taken as we hiked in one of hundreds of slot canyons in Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, east of Bryce Canyon.

Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners chose Duck Creek Village

We have visited and enjoyed many of our nation's parks and wilderness areas. We think Southern Utah is one of the most spectacular areas in the country, with an array of what are some of the most beautiful and accessible national parks and monuments. We have been coming to the area for several years, drawn by the beauty and wide variety of outdoor activities. Almost 3 years ago, we finally decided we needed to own a little piece of this incredible place. That was such a good purchase that recently we bought this cabin, our second cabin in Duck Creek, with an eye to living here some day. With breathtaking natural wonders any way you drive, all within close proximity, you can't beat this location. Red Pines Lodge is in a great location, near the Village, and with easy access. It's a beautifully built cabin, has the amenities that make it comfortable, yet it has that rustic, warm feeling we enjoy in a cabin - and think others will too. We love both our cabins - both are welcoming, wonderful places. If you love nature and experiencing the outdoors, as we do, you will be amazed at this part of southern Utah. If you love the feeling of being in a cabin in the forest, then you will love Red Pines Lodge.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the majesty and beauty of Southern Utah so much that we purchased Red Pines Lodge, our second cabin property in Duck Creek. We also own Cedar Hollow log cabin (also listed on Homeaway/VRBO), in the Strawberry Valley area. It has a special place in our hearts. Most of all, we love sharing this special area with others! We enjoy extending hospitality, sharing our vacation cabins, sharing our knowledge of the area and it's attractions, and making all who stay at our cabins feel welcome and at home. That's our philosophy: to ensure that our guests are comfortable, and welcome, and have a memorable experience. Our brand of hospitality is what makes a stay in either of our cabins unique.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such a great time! Hiking, fishing, campfires and s'mores. Hummingbirds swarming. Mommy caught her first fish ever! The two boys (ages 3 and 5) caught their first fish ever too! We will be back! Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful cabin.

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying in the cabin this August. Exceeded expectations at every step: the cabin is spacious, tastefully decorated, comfortable, very clean. The kitchen is bigger and better quipped than most people's home. Easy drive to Bryce, Zion, Cedar breaks, the caves. The children did not want to leave. If you're visiting So Utah and this place is open, jump on it, you'll be glad you did.

Fantastic Getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5
What a week!!! The Duck Creek Village is a hidden gem and this property only capitalizes on its beauty and wonder. The wrap-around covered patio makes for fantastic early morning breakfast, evening card/board games, and just an all around great place to keep an eye on the kids as they explore.

The property provides everything needed to enjoy a relaxing and stress-free vacation. A modern kitchen with all the necessities, comfortable lounging areas with cable/streaming services, and plenty of room to not make you feel like everyone is on top of each other. It's also very kid friendly and made for a wonderful time for our young family.

The property was close enough to so many great places that we were able to spend time at Bryces, North Rim of the Grand Canyon, geo-caching Duck Creek area, and even cheer on the Tour of Utah racers as they passed through Duck Creek Village (awesome experience for the kids).

Lastly, Jan is a dream to work with. She is VERY responsive during the initial inquiry process through the end of your visit with a detail oriented personality. No question is left unanswered and she even provides a ton of material and recommendations prior to your visit so you know what to expect and where are the best places to go. I'm always a little leery paying for services/accommodations up front, particularly when transacted through a general merchant payment processor like paypal. The exceptional customer service Jan provides helped to put any hesitations I had to rest and reassure me this was a legit transaction.

It's been a month since we visited this area/property and we are already missing it. We can't wait to do this again and will most definitely be staying at this property again.

We were all smiles as we pulled into the setting where we would spend the next few days! The house and lot are beautiful, immaculately clean and well stocked with most anything we would need, except food or drinks of course.
Our days were spent walking in the area and fishing at nearby ponds, creeks and lakes. Our two grandsons, ages 5 and 3 yrs., caught their First Fish ever, as did their mom!! My wife made some nectar for the two hummingbirds entertaining us, and by the next day there were 8-10 more swarming the three feeders on the deck, humming away for us!
There were woodpeckers, chipmunks and squirrels to watch during the day while we chilled on the deck. The boys ran and played outside, enjoying exploring the woods and land around the house.
After dinner on the deck, our nights were spent around the fire pit, making s'mores and star gazing, hoping to see a shooting star!
The days were around 70, with nights in the mid-40's, and we even had one afternoon shower while we were fishing.....something we don't get back home.
We highly recommend this cabin for a relaxing getaway. We will be back in the near future, maybe for a longer stay so we can visit the nearby national parks, too.

BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS!

  • 5 of 5
This week spent in this beautiful luxury cabin was priceless! These owners really know how to set you up for a fantastic getaway in the woods! The surroundings are expected but the little touches the owners add make staying in their cabin such an enjoyable experience none of us want to go home! We are already planning our return!

The robes in each bedroom, the kitchen, bathroom and living necessities were such a pleasant surprise! Having a stocked woodpile, awesome fire pit and the deck were the icing on the cake! This is luxury living in the woods! We had deer running by, hummingbirds practically landing on us and the chipmunks were hysterical to watch.

The cabin is laid out perfectly for children and adults to have their own spaces! The jetted tub was quite enjoyable! The beds were super comfortable. Although it was a vacation, the wifi allowed me to work when needed and having cell service was fantastic so we posted to FB all week long! Having the laundry room proved to be a blessing as we got rained on and needed to wash/dry clothes. The recliners were dangerous! Many a nap was had!

The only thing we found that could be better would be an additional refrigerator as we stayed a week and could have used another one. Thank you so much for all you provide and your pride of ownership and all the small details really do make this the best!!! We will be back!

One of the best cabins we ever use...

What a wonderful way to spend our family vacation! It was an absolute pleasure to escape to the beautiful Utah mountains, where we were completely thrilled with our stay in your cabin. It is very nicely maintained, spacious, tastefully decorated and well equipped - we felt right at home! Our peaceful morning breakfasts on the deck were much enhanced by the plentiful wildlife.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5
We had an amazing time, it was so nice to get away from the chaos of life, and simply rest and relax. It was so nice to be close to everything we as a family enjoy doing, hiking, fishing and simply sitting out by the fire talking. When all the fun was done it was nice to go get cleaned up and simply relax.

Anything you could think of was there at the cabin when it came to preparing food, we didn't really have to bring anything but the food. Our parents came down and were equally impressed and pleased with how nice everything was.

Jan was so easy to work with and was so accommodating. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us.
