BEAUTIFUL CABIN NESTLED IN PONDEROSA PINES, DUCK CREEK PINES AREA

Duck Creek Village Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Gorgeous Cabin - New Listing/New Owners

This light-filled and airy cabin, Red Pines Lodge, radiates hospitality and comfort, and is the epitome of 'roughing it in style'. The cabin is situated in a beautiful forest of tall Ponderosa pines, firs, and aspens, just 1.5 miles from the heart of Duck Creek Village. Outside you’ll appreciate the rustic log construction, and plenty of parking. The enormous wrap-around covered deck features a gas grill, dining for 6, and seating for all to enjoy the cool breezes, glimpses of the Pink Cliffs, or morning coffee while watching the sun rise. In the evening, sit around the backyard firepit on log benches, and make s'mores and memories under the stars.

Inside, you’ll love the striking tongue and groove knotty pine walls throughout the house, as well as the columns and railings made from native aspen. Cathedral windows bathe the Great Room in light. Here you can enjoy a cozy fire in the woodstove that sits on its stone hearth, while you relax with a book, TV, or surround-sound music. Also on the Main Level you’ll find the outsized and well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, and a gas range for the gourmet cook; the Dining area with seating for 6-8; a pretty guest bedroom with a queen bed and private door onto the deck; and a full bath.

On the upper level is a beautiful loft area overlooking the Great Room, and featuring a computer work center ready for you to enjoy the high-speed wireless (throughout the house). Also on the upper level is the huge Master Suite, with its en suite bath including a tiled jetted tub, and a separate shower.

On the lower level is a large and comfy Family Room with tv and lots of seating, and access to the outside patio area. Also on this lower level is the third bedroom (the Buckaroo Room) with two twin beds; a full bath; and the laundry room with washer and dryer.

This cabin can sleep 8 – 10 people, using the two queen bedrooms, two twin beds, the queen sofa sleeper in the Great Room, and an comfortable queen-size inflatable bed that can go anywhere (although we recommend this for children rather than adults). With three full baths, one on each level of the cabin, there is plenty of access for all. Red Pines Lodge is perfect for a family gathering or a group of friends.

The cabin sits on a level, forested lot, with easy year-round access. National Forest land is only a couple of hundred yards away, and ATV and snowmobile trails are right at hand. Hiking, fishing, biking, skiing, and a myriad of other outdoor activities are all in close proximity as well. Duck Creek, and the surrounding area, is truly a natural outdoor paradise.

Please note: The cabin has an 8-10 person maximum unless approved by owner. A per person charge may apply. We do not rent to “house parties” or unruly groups. We welcome those who will respect our cabin, and the natural environment of Cedar Mountain. If you are looking for a cabin for a smaller number of people, please ask us about Cedar Hollow, our log cabin in Strawberry Valley that accommodates 4-6 people.

Further Details - And Things to Do: Hiking, bicycling, fishing, hunting, ATV fun, snowmobiling, skiing, and horseback riding are just a few of the activities in the area. Aspen Mirror Lake and Duck Creek Pond, popular fishing spots for all ages, are just outside Duck Creek Village and within minutes of the cabin. Navajo Lake, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Brian Head Ski and Summer Resort, and Lake Panguitch are all a short drive away. The many marvels of Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Monument are each less than 45 minutes away. And only a little further away are such amazing spots as The Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (about 2 hours to the North Rim Lodge and Bright Angel), and Capital Reef National Park. For antique shopping and theater, visit Cedar City (30 mile drive), renowned for its annual Utah Shakespeare Festival in summer and early fall, held on the lovely campus of Southern Utah University.

Places to Go: Duck Creek Village is 1.5 miles to the west of the cabin. Distances from Duck Creek Village to: Aspen Mirror Lake 1/4 mile; Brian Head 23 miles; Bryce Canyon NP 42 miles; Zion Natl Park 45 miles; Cascade Falls 4 miles; Cedar Breaks NM 15 miles; Cedar City / I-15 29 miles; Escalante-Grand Staircase NM 18 miles; Highway 89, 8 miles; Kanab 49 miles; Las Vegas 198 miles; Mammoth Cave 5.5 miles; Navajo Lake 7.5 miles; Panguitch Lake 32 miles

Just ask us about things to do and places to see in the area. We enjoy being your 'tour guide', and we keep lots of guide books and information in the cabin for your use. Welcome to Duck Creek, and welcome to Red Pines Lodge!

Guestbook comments from the owner
First off, the cabin was perfect - everything from firewood to great towels! The perfect setting for relaxing and unwinding and getting back to nature. Deer in the yard...really blue skies...and the stars at night were so impressive. We ordered 2 pies from "Aunt Sue's Chalet" - best we've had! ATV riding all day by Mamouth Cave..so terrific. Then we enjoyed an entire day in Zion hiking! River Walk, Emerald Pools, and the Narrows (we didn't go too far - unprepared). And THEN WE GOT 12 INCHES OF SNOW! We hunkered down all day - games, movies, so glad for the DirecTV! Thank you, and with MUCH appreciation!

We live near San Diego, California, but we love this area and will never tire of exploring it. And there is no end to the wonders available to explore! This photo of the owners was taken as we hiked in one of hundreds of slot canyons in Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, east of Bryce Canyon.

Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners purchased this cabin in 2013

We have visited and enjoyed many of our nation's parks and wilderness areas. We think Southern Utah is one of the most spectacular areas in the country, with an array of what are some of the most beautiful and accessible national parks and monuments. We have been coming to the area for several years, drawn by the beauty and wide variety of outdoor activities. Almost 3 years ago, we finally decided we needed to own a little piece of this incredible place. That was such a good purchase that recently we bought this cabin, our second cabin in Duck Creek, with an eye to living here some day. With breathtaking natural wonders any way you drive, all within close proximity, you can't beat this location. Red Pines Lodge is in a great location, near the Village, and with easy access. It's a beautifully built cabin, has the amenities that make it comfortable, yet it has that rustic, warm feeling we enjoy in a cabin - and think others will too. We love both our cabins - both are welcoming, wonderful places. If you love nature and experiencing the outdoors, as we do, you will be amazed at this part of southern Utah. If you love the feeling of being in a cabin in the forest, then you will love Red Pines Lodge.

We love the majesty and beauty of Southern Utah so much that we purchased Red Pines Lodge, our second cabin property in Duck Creek. We also own Cedar Hollow log cabin (also listed on Homeaway/VRBO), in the Strawberry Valley area. It has a special place in our hearts. Most of all, we love sharing this special area with others! We enjoy extending hospitality, sharing our vacation cabins, sharing our knowledge of the area and it's attractions, and making all who stay at our cabins feel welcome and at home. That's our philosophy: to ensure that our guests are comfortable, and welcome, and have a memorable experience. Our brand of hospitality is what makes a stay in either of our cabins unique.

ONE OF THE BEST CABINS WE EVER USE...

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful way to spend our family vacation! It was an absolute pleasure to escape to the beautiful Utah mountains, where we were completely thrilled with our stay in your cabin. It is very nicely maintained, spacious, tastefully decorated and well equipped - we felt right at home! Our peaceful morning breakfasts on the deck were much enhanced by the plentiful wildlife.

Owner's Response: Nick, thanks so much for your nice review. I'm thrilled that you and your family had a great experience at our cabin, and that you enjoyed our area. And yes, I totally agree, coffee and breakfast on our wonderful deck, watching the sun come up and the deer stroll through the property, is my favorite part of the day! I hope you'll be able to return to our area for another visit sometime - you're always welcome to be our guests at Red Pines cabin! Best wishes, Jan

FANTASTIC

  • 5 of 5
We had an amazing time, it was so nice to get away from the chaos of life, and simply rest and relax. It was so nice to be close to everything we as a family enjoy doing, hiking, fishing and simply sitting out by the fire talking. When all the fun was done it was nice to go get cleaned up and simply relax.

Anything you could think of was there at the cabin when it came to preparing food, we didn't really have to bring anything but the food. Our parents came down and were equally impressed and pleased with how nice everything was.

Jan was so easy to work with and was so accommodating. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us.

LOVED OUR STAY!

  • 5 of 5
Loved the cabin! We were 3 generations traveling together and every one of us felt at home there. The location was perfect for us, as we had wanted to visit both Bryce and Zion (mission accomplished, and we followed many of Jan's recommendations on sight seeing and hiking). We became well acquainted with the wood stove, and had every intention of using the firepit, but couldn't keep our eyes open long enough...

Jan extended herself in every way from the moment we first inquired about availability until the time we had to head back to reality. Whether it was directions to her cabin or to the parks, recommending hikes and activities or just making sure that everything with our stay was smooth and easy - Jan was a great host.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Jeff, for the kind words about our cabin. It makes us happy to hear the things you enjoyed about our cabin. But most of all, I am so happy to hear that youa nd your family - all 3 generatiosn - found yourselves at home here! That's what we strive for - a relaxing home away form home. And I am glad too that the recommendations I gave you for activities and hikes and such were all ones that you enjoyed. I really hope that you and your family will be back again to our area, and we'd welcome you all back as guests anytime. Thanks for being fantastic guests. Cheers, Jan

QUIET, QUAINT AND PERFECT

  • 5 of 5
What a delightful cabin, and so very clean!! We stayed there for a week in order to visit Zion and Bryce with out two teenage children. It was a good location and even though there was some driving each day the scenery is beautiful. We rock climbed with ZRMG, ATV'd outside Bryce, hiked Angels Landing in Zion and did some caving in Mammoth Caves. Jan had everything in order at the house and was responsive and informative to questions etc. Cable/Internet access was good, beds were comfortable and there was plenty of places to relax.

DELIGHTFUL

  • 5 of 5
A terrific cabin. A wonderful spot to come back to after a long day of hiking. The kitchen was fully equipped to make big dinners and there was ample seating. My group had a great time and really could not have been more impressed.

Jan was a delight as an owner, super friendly and helpful, providing pages full of useful information such as places to grocery shop, directions, hiking suggestions, and more!

Would happily return if I make it back to the area!
