Everything we wanted for the honeymoon
I searched all over St Thomas for the perfect place at the right price. I saw Sapphire resort originally and saw the dated and overpriced rooms. Then I checked VRBO. I thought it was too good to be true when I first found it, this could not be the same place. Well it is, and this unit it amazing. They completely updated everything, the pictures are very accurate so you know what you are getting. I could go on and on about how pleased I was with this property, I would definitely stay here again. Very clean and new, only a few suggestions for owners and heads up for renters. (please note none of this was major but would just make for a better experience) Update the comforter, it doesn't go with the modern feel at all. Supply the basics for new stays, like paper towels and bottled water. Plenty of cooking supplies, may need new pans as a few of the current ones are damaged. We got in late and had nothing to eat or drink with most places closed for the night. Tap water is probably safe on the island, but being a honeymoon we didn't want to chance it. Minor maintenance issues, shower seal needs repaired, main tv settings make everything look like it was shot on camcorder. Tried to adjust but it resets on its own, mainly just annoying. Main drawback is the resort itself. It is obviously seen better days. Locals said a few years ago it was THE place to be as far as resorts. Pool and tennis courts needs work, the few shops/vendor near the beach need renovated. They are renovating the place building by building, I believe they are on building A. We stayed in B and had no real issues, may hear some equipment from time to time, but that's about it. If you decide to rent a car, Budget has an office on site. We used cabs the entire time, during the day cabs are there waiting til about dark. Although being dated is a drawback, it may have contributed to small number of people on our beach, which we thought was a great thing. Visited the other resorts, some are very touristy with chairs lined up like you see in Florida. Beach is a little rocky, but great snorkeling. Overall it was everything we wanted private beach, great unit, great location near Red Hook(restaurant and bars) and ferry to St John. Owners are great to work with, timely responses, great tips and info for your stay.
