The site of the lake house was purchased before barkley lake was created. Our family previously had a get away on Kentucky lake, but it was purchased by TVA to create Land Between the Lakes. My grandfather had a cabin on this site until he decided to build a home to retire in. Sadly he was never able to live here. This house was built for families and we still gather here several times a year.
This lot was selected because it sits on a peninsula with wooded areas on either side so there are no connecting neighbors on either side of us. once you are down the private drive nature surrounds you with a wonderful view of the lake and woodlands around you.
While our property is private we are within a short drive, walk, or bike ride from Prizer Point Marina.
Prizer Point offers many services including boat ramp, full service marina with fuel and boat repair shop, boat rentals, and other water sports equipment, grocery items, and bait shop.
We also have a small convenience store with grocery items and a liquor store just right down the road. Of course Cadiz, Ky is just a short 15 minute drive into town if antiquing interests you.
Also close by are the planetrium, nature center, and elk and bison perrie of Land Between the lakes. Lake Barkley State Park is also a great place to enjoy golf, tennis, horseback riding, boat rentals, 4th of July fireworks, beach, and meals at the lodge restraunt.
Just got back spent 4 of the best vacation days at this beautiful location. would recommend to everyone I know, and hope to do it again next year
This trip was planned as a way to "get away" with our two sons and their families. It ended up to be a great idea, as we had a very enjoyable time. The house was everything we hoped it would be with enough bedrooms, and even more importantly, a bathroom for each family! Wonderful weather, wonderful water, nicely secluded. We also appreciated the large freezer, as we brought all of our own pre-frozen meals. Thank you for a great stay and super memories.
We had three families staying in this house for a total of 12: 4 kids, 2 young adults and 3 couples. The size of the house fit us really well. The dock area/swim platform was great for docking our two boats and still having space to swim and the walk to the dock was only a small slope making it an easy and short walk. The marina was right around the corner. Easy for filling the boat up with gas. The kitchen was large enough for 2 two to work in and had most of what we needed to cook. The fridge was large enough to accomodate all of our vacation food and a seperate freezer allowed enough room for a few bags of ice as well as the small amount of freezer food we had. We would stay here again if we come back to the area.
I just got back from the best vacation ever! We decided on a vacation at Barkley Lake and rented this beautiful lake house with my children, their spouses and grandchildren (five adults and five children ranging from 2 - 12). This home was spotless and there was plenty of room; everyone had a bed, lots of towels, dishes, silverware, two dining tables, two tables with lots of chairs in the sunroom. There's a grill and table and chairs on the deck, and the boat dock is a short walk through a shaded yard.
We were never crowded, and even when we all sat down to eat or were all in the sunroom or on the deck, there was never someone without a spot to sit. The boat dock is plenty big and has a ladder into the water. I made the mistake of only taking three rafts for floating around the lake on ... next time I will bring a lot more as we ended up in the lake twice a day.
We spent a day at Land Between the Lakes, drove through the Elk and Bison Prarie and then went to the Homeplace (a working farm with lots of animals for the children to see). We stopped at Barkley Lodge and had lunch, but then we hurried back for a swim in the lake and a dinner cooked at "home".
I was worried as sometimes what you see in pictures is not what you get. With this vacation home you get more than you see in these photos. Wonderful time, fantastic memories, and we've already planned to go back next year ... and the year after ... and more!!! If you're looking for a beautiful spot to spend a great time at Lake Barkley with lots of privacy, I would highly recommend this spot!
The property was clean, in excellent condition and everything they promised. We had 3 families, 5 adults, 6 children and we were confortable. The listing photos were accurate, what you see is what you get.
Owner was happy to answer all questions and did so promptly. It was a very pleasant experience and would definitely go back and recommend to others.
There is a marina just down the road and we rented a pontoon for a day with slide, kids loved it. If you do not bring your own fishing boat, they also have rentals. I trip to Land Between the Lakes is a must. Unfortunately I can not remember one restaurant to recommend. We ate most meals in.
Nashville is a little over an hour from the house. We did that one day.
Water is shallow at dock, do not dive...............
Overall we had nice weather and a great time at this property.
Boat, jet ski & water sport rentals available at Prizer Point Marina.
