San Casciano in Val di Pesa Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description
3 bedroom, 2 bathroom farm house with huge swimming pool, close to amenities.
Located half an hour from Florence in the Heart of Chianti, this family run vineyard, of which the house is furnished with antiques from Africa, Italy and Russia, offers an enticing base for exploring one of the most beautiful regions of Italy. Close at hand are Pisa, Sienna, San Gimignano, with their museums, towers, medieval squares, good restaurants and shops to purchase local specialties, from cheese and wine to lace or gemstones. On your return, the 6x12 m recently refurbished swimming pool may offer an attractive proposition for a dip before dinner.
And if you are attending one of the major international events taking place in Tuscany every year (Pitti Uomo, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Antique Fairs), you can take a bus to Florence from directly outside the farm, be in Florence in less than half an hour, and return in the evening to find a pre-stocked refrigerator waiting for you, bookable in advance.

My brother Silvio and I own this farm, which our father bought in the 60' from an aristocratic family of the region. Silvio, a former musician and composer, has taken over the vineyard in 1999, after 15 years in Boston and New York, and is producing a wonderful biodynamic red wine, under the Montesecondo brand.
As to me, I was a journalist for 35 years, based in Rome, Moscow and New York, and I now live in Italy where I plan to open a guesthouse in Sardinia. I speak Italian, French, English and Russian.
We spent our vacations in Tuscany since our childhood, and so have our kids. We inherited this property from our parents, installed a swimming pool in 1998, and Silvio spent years refining the wine to its current high standards. Montesecondo wines are now sold all over the world, from Sweden to the US and Japan.
What I particularly love about this place is the view on the rolling Tuscan hills, the sunset at the swimming pool, the long evening dinners under the pergola, the summer skies. And the fact that I can reach Florence and all the famous places of the region in such a little time, for shopping, or visiting churches and museums.
