Overview

Trastevere area Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 levels apt. of 60 sqm with furnitures and antiques - 2 bathrooms - veranda

A delightful private two level apartment, with typical wooden beamed ceilings, parquet flooring and fully furnished with antiques. Fisrt floor.

An original stone staircase takes you up to the interior of this cozy apartment. A hideaway for those seeking a special experience in Rome.

A spacious living room with a gas fireplace, a comfortable seating and dining area introduce you to this picturesque apartment.

The double sofabed in front of the gas fireplace makes the accommodation suitable for four people though we suggest they should be close friends or family, as the main bedroom in the loft overlooks the living room.

A wooden staircase leads to the loft where you will find a comfortable double bed, wardrobe and a bathroom with shower.

The access of the second bathroom with tub is from the dining area on the main floor.

A modern and well equipped small kitchen with dish washer, electric oven (well-working) , refrigerator and gas stove overlooks the dining room.

The family area in the living room opens onto a charming private little balcony, overlooking a quiet and green internal courtyard. A small gem in this area of Rome.

The centralized location of the appartment makes it a perfect base for strolling out to explore all parts of Rome’s city center. The Trastevere area is a maze of small streets and pretty allies where you can find cafes, open markets, restaurants and boutiques. Notwithstanding, Via della Gensola is a very quite street where you can sleep soundly.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A beautiful vintage styled apartment in a great location. The lovely wooden antique furniture and old fashioned wooden décor (we loved the creaky staircase!) really made my wife and I feel like we were "living" in Italy. Olivia our hostess was the best of our entire trip to Italy, giving us great insights into hidden gem local restaurants and wonderful sights to see that are often not listed online. Everything in the kitchen worked perfectly and it was well stocked with what we needed to cook our own meals if we chose to. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others

cocoon of stylish comfort

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I fancied a romantic getaway to Rome and found this lovely apartment in Trastevere a few weekends ago. This studio apartment is actually much more spacious than I thought it was going to be, as the mezzanine platform where the extremely comfortable bed is situated makes very good use of the available space. The apartment is beautifully furnished and very cosy. Coming into it from the cold windy outside was like entering into a cocoon of warmth and comfort. The bathrooms are lovely and the small kitchen has been planned with great precision to use the space well and uses top quality fittings. The red of the kitchen and wooden stairs and balcony give a welcoming feel, and I understand there is air conditioning for the warmer months. The location is wonderful, Old Rome, near the river, very accessible by tram although I admit we took a couple of taxis, and you can wander around the eternal city to your heart's content before coming back to a wonderful apartment. I would definitely recommend it for a romantic break!

The must of Rome

  • 5 of 5

I very rarely write reviews unless the place is really bad, and I feel cheated and need to warn people, but I must say that this is a wonderful flat, and needs to be tolled out loud; it’s beautifully furnished with all you need in it, it’s with great enthusiasm that I write about my stay in this enchanting little flat in Rome.

It’s in a quiet little road with hardly any traffic; close to REAL Italian restaurants, ice cream bars, shops and supermarket, pharmacy, well connected to the historical centre.

We experienced a lovely week and felt as if we were a part of the roman life and not just tourists. Olivia, the manager, speaks good English and gave us a bubbly Italian warm welcome, explaining in detail all the house functioning, and what we needed to know to visit Rome.

Thank you for a memorable holiday we are already looking at dates to come again in spring!!!

Pros and Cons

  • 3 of 5

We arrived 7AM in Citavecchia so requested the apartment manager Olivia, order a car for us. This went smoothly as did all initial contacts with her.

The apartment looks like the photos. The wood ceiling runs the entire apartment, making it darker in reality. The apartment is rustic in appearance.

Olivia went over everything and mentioned the oven didn’t work (noted in previous reviews), the downstairs toilet didn’t flush properly due to a plumber not showing up and to not use the fireplace. It was 50* outside so we questioned what the heat source was. She replied that the heat was regulated and wasn’t to be turned on until sometime in November.

Our first night was fine, but cool. The second morning we woke up freezing and contacted her. She said to use the fireplace and gave directions to turn on the radiator and reverse control of the AC. We couldn’t get either of those to work (no manual) but used the fireplace only briefly due to natural gas odor.

That night we were reading at 6:30PM and the lights in the apartment went out. Thankfully my husband carries a small flashlight so we were able to get our shoes on and go to a restaurant with wifi to contact her..as our phone attempts were unsuccessful. After reaching her, the owner’s son arrived who knew where all the fuse boxes were and who also turned on the radiator heat. We were now warm..

We are active and in our late 60’s. We realize, having been B&B owners for 12 years and currently with a vacation rental that glitches can happen. It was our turn to encounter a few problems. C'est la vie! One should be made aware however that this apartment is 32 steps up. No elevator. This was not a problem for us, but would be for many. Secondly, as in previous reviews…no working oven. There was no way to reheat anything. No oven, no microwave. No warm pizza. The lights on the backporch were burned out which is where the wash machine is.

Most vacation rentals have a manual on how to work appliances. This apartment would benefit from this. We could have flipped the fuse box switches ourselves had we known where both of them were.

The location is good. About 3-4 blocks to public transit. Taxi stand very closeby. Less than ten minute walk to a grocery store. Surrounded by restaurants. It was quiet and sleeping was not a problem. Shower was good with plenty of hot water.

Neither the owner or property manager are onsite.

Owner's Response: Dear guest, first of all let me say that you left the house clean and were never a ‘complaining’ type of person. I must admit that reading your review I was sad, knowing how much effort Diana and I make to offer our guests the best possible experience. My second thought was to build on your experience, and avoid any possible trouble to future guests I immediately started expanding the house Book, with more detailed instructions on appliances and pictures on electric switchers and other procedures which might be only partially covered during check in.This might help in dedicating more time to explanations on the neighborhood and places to visit. In fact, as you mentioned my instructions were accurate (we spend more than one hour in acquainting all the apartment’s appliances) and I also sent you the apartment instructions by e-mail. I will buy a battery torch and an electric emergency light. Regarding the Oven, unfortunately it took long finding replacement for the broken part; when you arrived though it was working (we turned it on together). And it is presently working! Maybe a misunderstanding? No microwave…not in the listing, no deceitful promise. However, some of your comments refer to experiences that are subjective: the place has elegant details and hand made wooden fittings. Not “Rustic” fittings. I've never said not to use the gas fireplace nor the air heating. On the contrary, I showed you how to use them and informed you that Rome municipal regulation forbides all citizens to turn on the methane heating before November 2nd. However, since you had difficulties using other equipments we then arranged to use it, in breach of our local law. The bulb on the back porch was simply burned out, If you had informed me with an e-mail I would have send a person available from 10:00 to 6:00 p.m. for this kind of minor fixing. Power might go-off and WIFI turns off as well. At vacation rentals as you truly say: glitches can happen..C'est la vie! Good memories of the wonderful places you visited remain, luckily!

Beautiful old Apt. in a wonderful neighborhood!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is large and very comfortable. All the amenities. The wi-fi connection is the best we have found in Italy. The neighborhood is mostly local, good restaurants, a very safe and lively atmosphere. The Apt. is a 3 minute walk to the old Jewish Ghetto, and 10 to 30 minute walk to all of the major sites in Rome. Olivia nice and helpful, and met us at the apartment on our arrival. She even arranged a garage for our car, & gave us useful information during our stay. We were there for one week, and wish we could have stayed for a month. We rent apartments all over Italy and this was one of the best.

Great location in the heart of Rome

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was exactly as described and illustrated. Our host Olivia was prompt and courteous and met us at the door with the keys upon our arrival. The only hitch we encountered was that the oven was not operating, a problem noted by an earlier reviewer the month before. We also suggested to Olivia to think about getting a toaster since North Americans like us have grown used to these small luxuries. The loft-style layout creates a very airy and open feeling although be aware that if you travel with teenagers or others who are staying up later than you, their sounds will carry to the upper bedroom level. The location was ideal as we easily walked to all of the Rome's main attractions. There are plenty of shops and restaurants a short stroll from the apartment. A well stocked supermarket is about a 10 minute walk and a small shop selling fruits and vegetables is just around the corner. The street was quiet and peaceful so that was definitely a pleasant surprise based on other stays we've had in Rome.

I highly recommend this apartment. Thanks Olivia!
