Overview

Downtown - Washington DC Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath Unit in Historic Downtown Neighborhood, 4 Blocks to Subway

You'll love this brand new ground floor apartment. Recently remodeled by its architect and interior designer owners, it is perfect for families or two couples. Located in an historic district right downtown, anything you could want is minutes away. There is a Metro (subway) station just four blocks down the street. Easy access to the monuments and Mall, Capitol Hill, China Town, the Central Business District - you name it.

Our neighborhood has many trendy restaurants, bars and coffee houses all within a couple blocks walk. There are a few 'city sized' grocery stores and organic markets within a couple blocks. Let us know what you are looking for and we can help point you in the right direction! There is the quaint Anna Cooper Circle at the end of our street (perfect for reading with a cup of coffee) as well as a large park with a playground and separate dog section just a block away. The swings are a hit with our kiddo. The apartment is brand new down to the studs. HVAC system and all appliances are top notch. It is comfortably furnished with stylish Mid-Century and contemporary furniture, but is still very child friendly (we have a toddler so we know :-) All of the linens and bedding are of the type we would use ourselves - we think you will enjoy. Cable TV and high speed Wifi are included. While the apartment is well constructed and there is insulation in the ceiling, like in all garden level apartments you may occasionally hear footsteps or noise from the unit above. There is a strict quiet policy for both units between 11pm and 7am to avoid disturbances. If there is ever a problem please notify us immediately.

The apartment's kitchen is well equipped and if there is anything you need that is not there, please ask. We live a short distance away and can be easily reached when needed. For larger groups, the upstairs unit is also available on Homeaway / VRBO.

I can help you get a visitor's parking pass. Please inquire!

About Kevin

I am a part-time architect and full-time Dad. We travel a lot (our son took 16 airplane flights in his first year!) and know what we like and dislike about the rentals we have visited over the years. We hope to treat you to the kind of rental experience we would enjoy.

Kevin purchased this apartment in 2009

Why Kevin chose Downtown - Washington DC

I used to come to this unique neighborhood 15 years ago when I first to moved to DC (fresh out of school) and dream of one day owning one of these beautiful Victorian brownstones. I always knew I would live here some day.

The "other" White House

I consider myself to be a vacation deal connoisseur and this place did not disappoint! Price point was great beating other locations of the same status by at least $100.00 Location was fabulous nestled in the Northwest corridor of D.C. Neighborhood was adorable with no short supply of quirky little food shops/cafes and restaurants. Mmmmm (Our family are big time foodies). The owners are great at pointing you in the right direction to find them all. The metro is about a 10-12 minute walk which will be quite lovely in the warmer weather. We visited in the dead of winter so we speed walked most of the time but still enjoyed the view of the neighborhood on the way.

The accommodations were exactly as described which can sometimes not be the case when booking a place online. We came with our 3 preteens and fit comfortably. bedroom was perfect for hubby and i with a plentiful amount of storage space for everyones stuff. Living area fit 2 on the futon and 1 on a provided blow up mattress with no problem.

I am an A type personallity with a splash of OCD and the place was deliciously spotless upon arrival. The kitchen was WELL stocked with everything from plastic wrap, dish liquid and wine glasses to sweet vermouth, cooking oil and sugar. I loved these small details that made our stay that much easier. There were plenty of linens/blankets/towels even with 5 of us there. All appliances were new clean and functional.

Lastly and very much important to me was how accommodating and warm the owners were. Its as if they were friends we never met. Everything they do with this place is so organized and inviting from labels on things in the house, restaurant suggestions based on our taste day to day to them taking the time to greet us upon arriving and bid us farewell upon leaving. They go above and beyond for their guests and personally this is what will keep me coming back and back and back.

Clean, cute and quiet

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this condo with our two daughter s and it was a great choice. It's in a quiet residential neighborhood not far from a metro stop which is just a couple stops from the

National Mall. The condo was very clean and modern, and Kevin was friendly and helpful. If your kids aren't up for eating out after a long day exploring the city, there are plenty of takeout choices in addition to hipper places my husband and I could only ogle longingly ;). Don't hesitate to book it.

Cozy condo

  • 5 of 5

Kevin's condo was a great choice for our family of four (two small kids). The condo was very clean and easily accessible from the metro, just a short ride from the National Mall. If your kids aren't up for eating out after a long day exploring the city, there are plenty of tasty takeout options in the neighborhood. Kevin was friendly, clear and helpful with all instructions. Don't hesitate to book it.

Lovely Condo in Perfect Spot :-)

  • 5 of 5

I brought my two grandgirls to this wonderful city to learn and explore. We had a very good time. This owner was very kind to me and helped me understand the city (never had been on a metro before). Me and my girls took the metro trains all over. It is an easy walk from the condo. The kitchen was good and we love to cook together. We also had two nice lunches at places very close. The bed was so good the girls took turns sharing it with me. The couch bed was nice but I was not giving up that bed :-) Wsa very clean to.

We had no complaints. keeping one Abuela and two teens happy - this condo vacation was the best. We are hoping to stay here again

perfect for our small family

  • 5 of 5

Dad, Mom and two kids in our party. This rental worked out very well for us. From the moment we walked in it not only looked great and just like the photos but it also smelled clean and fresh. I was in town for a conference (location is convenient to the convention center by Metro) and brought the family along to explore DC. My wife felt comfortable walking with the kids to the Metro each day while I was working. It's about a five minute walk with a coffee shop and a few other things along the way (try Uprising Muffin Shop!!). We ended up taking the Metro two stops north the a very large Target grocery store to stock up. It was helpful to our budget eating dinners at home. In hind sight though, the neighborhood market just around the corner from the apartment has all of the things we would have needed and we could have done our shopping for dinners there. We just hadn't visited before we hit the Target. We didn't try many of the neighborhood restaurants but there sure are a lot of them to choose from. We spent every evening at home in the apartment and watched quite a few DVDs that we brought. We could tell there was someone staying in the unit above us but never had any issues or complaints to make about noise. I am a light sleeper and it has been a long time since I lived in an apartment but I was mentally prepared for the worst. I am happy that it was not a problem at all :)

I would also like to note that we were very happy with the items the owners provided with the apartment (plenty of soap, shampoo, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, dishsoap, coffee, sugar, creamer, tea bags, etc.etc.). We have been disappointed in past rentals to arrive and find out that there was only a "starter kit" provided and having to furnish all of these things yourself is a total pain. We would recommend this place to friends and if you read this far you should pick it too ;)

Very nice home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the apartment. Loved the hooks everywhere! We felt like we were coming home every night. Nicely furnished, well equipped and fairly quiet. Only comment, not complaint is the shower is tiny. Will stay again when in the DC area and will recommend to friends.
