East Bay Beachfront & View, Cozy with a Modern Sensibility
Keywords: ranch, single-family, beachfront, private, modern, vacation
I am a native of Traverse City who currently lives and works in Philadelphia, PA as a Director for a global bank.
Lisa M. Herman purchased this house in 2010
I'm an avid traveler, including Europe, Asia, South America and Africa but, Traverse is still one of my favorite places.
I am very proud of this very beautiful region and the vibrancy of this lovely little northerm Michigan city.
Here I find a wonderful combination of small town charm and metropolitan sophistication. From the family-oriented National Cherry Festival to the Traverse City Film Festival (co-founded by Director Michael Moore).
And for outdoor enthusiasts, there are so many options...Water sports on either of the Grand Traverse Bays, Hiking Biking Trails, Downhill and Cross-County skiing facilities

We stayed for a long weekend and had a beautiful time. The house was cute, and beautifully decorated with a fantastic view of the bay. We had a little trouble getting in with the keypad, but Lisa was fantastic and got back to us right away with help. The home is on a busy street, but getting out of the driveway isn't too bad if you wait for the break in traffic when the lights change. The home was very pet friendly, and I think our dogs had just as much fun as we did. It was a bit cold for swimming (mid-march), but the dogs still enjoyed playing on the beach and wading into the water. We all had an incredibly fun and relaxing weekend trip! I would definitely recommend this place, and will not hesitate to stay here again!!
We just enjoyed a week long stay at this lovely home, and honestly every aspect of our visit was perfect. Lisa was very helpful and replied right away when I had a question. You can tell that she truly wants her home to be a relaxing getaway for the folks who visit. The home is very gracious and she has thought of so many details to make your stay a pleasant one.
The home is situated on a busy street, but we never had any trouble getting in/out of the drive, and there was no need to spend any time in the street-facing front yard, because the back of the home is the beach! We have two young children and I was a little concerned before arriving about being on a busy road, but it was not a problem for us at all. The thoughtfulness of the white noise machines in the bedroom was very much appreciated (although the traffic noise was not loud in my opinion - it was still super helpful to keep the kiddos asleep in their room.) The layout of the house is so nice for a vacation home. There is a long wash/mud/entry room where you can leave all of your bags etc. All of the windows look out onto the bay and the beach and it is just so peaceful and relaxing. We loved the outdoor furniture for meals, and we used the fire pit many times. It made it easy to enjoy these things because we were so close to the home so getting things to and from the kitchen was easy. There is also a large sun room porch that was nice on chilly mornings, since it heated up right away. I enjoyed relaxing with a book there. The decor of the home is modern, comfortable, tasteful, and beautiful. It was spotless when we arrived, and everything that guests may need (cleaning supplies etc.) was very well organized.
The location of this home is really nice. We have also stayed in Glen Arbor and enjoyed that, but this was a really great set-up. It's nice to be on the bay, as the water is calm and quiet, but you are still on the vast Lake Michigan. Even though there are neighbors nearby, it felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Maybe because we went early in the season? It was very quiet and peaceful. Being in Traverse City meant easy access to some great bakeries and dining, and yet getting to the Leelanau peninsula was also quick and easy.
I would definitely recommend this property, and I hope to stay here again!
Such a cute & comfortable home. Beautiful beach front with grill & fire pit. Lisa was very organized and accommodating. I would recommend staying here without reservation.
Lisa has a beautiful home that is very pet friendly! Plenty of amenities, spacious, and a $10 cab ride to the center of Traverse City. Felt like home. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Lisa!
My fourth stay at the beach house and it was wonderful again! It was a great weekend with my family and a great place to meet with my extended family! Will go back for sure!
It snowed the entire time that we were in T.C., but the house was cozy and warm. Great fireplace, spectacular views of the lake effect snow coming in off of Michigan.
We will definitely plan to return in the summer when we can take advantage of the beach right outside the back door.
