Fabulous home and locale for families or couples

My husband, two teenagers and I spent a glorious week at La Malagueña this summer. Guanajuato, with its colonial churches, historical monuments, diverse museums and multiple theaters, turned out to be an ideal location for a busy family of four looking for rest and recreation. We enjoyed the ease of walking around town, thanks to the fact that only two city streets allow vehicles to circulate. We also relished exploring, both by day and by night, the quaint European-style plazas and streets, without any concern for our safety. Best of all, however, is La Malagueña itself. This distinctive home is a feast for the senses from the moment you open the heavy wood entry doors. Originally designed by a famed movie and theater director, the house is a complete delight! It is as artful as it is spacious: my teens loved having their own rooms, while my husband and I appreciated the solitude of the large master suite and the beautifully appointed living and dining rooms. The tiled kitchen and updated bathrooms were also charming, yet functional. Our favorite part of the home, without a doubt, was the spectacular garden roof terrace. We spent lazy mornings and warm afternoons reading and playing cards surrounded by a wide variety of flowers and plants that attract birds and butterflies. At night the terrace afforded us an amazing 360 degree view of the city lights. Guanajuato is quick cab ride from the Leon airport. La Malagueña’s support staff ensured that our visit was trouble-free. We strongly recommend this unique venue!
