The unpolluted waters of the Paraíba do Sul River are one of the Guararema of tourist attractions, where you can catch fish as Piaba, Piabanha, Piau, Curimbatá and others, boating and jet skiing.
Today Guararema can be considered as the boundary between the bustle of big cities and the small-town way of life without hassle. Began to form on land donated to a former slave, and this gift came a place of devout people and friendly. That devotion is clear in the preservation of the Church of Our Lady of the ladder, the oldest historical building in the Paraíba Valley. Its development took place in the fall of coffee production, when there was demand for other means of survival, such as livestock, agriculture and tourism. Despite the proximity of São Paulo, Guararema opted to remain a small town, quiet and cozy, with guarantee much peace and quiet to those who enter it.
