Dan and Roxanne work and live in Colorado. We met while living in the Brainerd area and always have felt at home at the lake. Our trips to the cabin are often the inspiration for many of the photographs your see on the walls. Roxanne runs an art studio in Colorado.
Daniel R. Herzog purchased this cabin in 2000
The Brainerd lakes area has always been a very comfortable setting for recreation, the night life or just being pulled in an inner tube behind the boat. We enjoy unwinding, entertaining friends and family in a relaxing environment.
We are a family of five and had plenty of room, we even brought our dogs we stayed at the end of July and didn't even have to turn on the air, wonderful breeze off the lake! Fished everyday even had a walleye fish fry. The cabin was so well stocked we could have packed half the junk we brought.
We spent a long Labor Day Weekend at the cabin. The owner made the booking very easy and the information provided by him and the site was extremly accurate. This cabin is adorable. It's very clean, super cozy, EXTREMLY well stocked and has a perfect setting tucked into the pines yet very near the lake. We had my parents and our two younger children with us and there was something for everyone to enjoy. We caught our limit of fish off the dock almost every day and the kids loved playing in the sand at the waters edge. The lake was quiet and peaceful and the it was nice to cap off each evening by the fire. I would book this place again in a heartbeat and have already recommended it to several friends. We all felt lucky that the owners would share their lovely home with us.
We just had the opportunity to stay at this cozy comfortable cabin. It truly was a Classic Up North Cabin. We loved the access to the beach and dock and took advantage of the canoe several times. The weather was the only challenge – we were only able to have a campfire once. You can’t beat sitting in front of the lake in those Adirondack chairs - relaxes all the stress away. This was a family vacation and with a small grandchild – we made the short trip to Paul Bunyan Land - she had fun there , but couldn’t wait to get back to the lake to enjoy the water – she even caught a fish off of the dock !! The kitchen was well equipped and everything was so nice and clean. Thank you, Herzog's for sharing.
enjoyed the cabin and it definitely lived up to its name "classic up north cabin". The kitchen was really well equipped and loved watching the birds out the window. The place is cozy and very cute with all the modern conveniences. We golfed, bike the Paul Bunyan trail and saw an eagle from the dock. Lots to do and it is truely relaxing.
Despite low temperatures approaching -20F, the cabin stayed warm, with its southern exposure and windows providing solar assistance. Cabin was clean, nice TV and DirectTV subscription; can't spend all day outdoors when it is below zero! Did not use the wood burning fireplace, but looked ready. Updated shower with good pressure and water conditioning. Beds were comfortable. Very relaxing stay. Only surprise was an additional cleaning charge in addition to the nightly rent which was disclosed before we confirmed our reservation, but does not appear in the VRBO Listing. We have not encountered that in previous VRBO rentals. Still, a good value for a long winter weekend getaway, and we would definitely visit again in the summer or winter.
My husband and I rented this cabin for 3 weeks in December 2013 so we could attend our son's wedding and stay for the holidays. I was able to work remotely for part of the time. We loved the ambience of the cabin and appreciated the Christmas decorations as we did celebrate Christmas with our daughter, her boyfriend and our granddaughter before they had to leave to go back to Kentucky. We also appreciated the fact that our dog could stay with us and that we had internet connection. I definitely wasn't ready to come home and could have stayed longer. We would stay again!
