The magic of Maalaea is its unique location on Maui. We are an absolute ocean front complex with spectacular views of Maalaea Bay from our ground floor location. From our 1-bedroom, 1-bath condo you can enjoy ocean vistas from our lanai, while cooking, and even when lounging on the couch. Maalaea is part of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Sanctuary with frequent whale sightings from our lanai during the winter months. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed. A five minute walk in one direction takes you to the undeveloped beauty of Sugar Beach, five miles of white sand with the ocean on one side and Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge on the other; perfect for your morning run or a quiet meditative walk. A ten minute walk in the other direction leads you to Maalaea Harbor, launching point for many water adventures including whale watching, snorkeling, and salt-water fishing. This is home to the Maui Ocean Center, a state-of-the-art marine aquarium dedicated to fostering an understanding of Hawaii’s marine life as well as several excellent restaurants which offer a wide assortment of dining and drinks. When you’re rested and ready for adventure, Maalaea’s central location allows you to easily reach most of Maui’s more famous locations; Lahaina is a 20 minute drive while Wailuku, Kahului and Kihei are 15 minutes away.
The Maalaea Banyans has been our favorite vacation spot for many years and now, after years of dreaming, we were able to purchase a unit of our own. We are having fun personalizing our new home and are eager to share this amazing place with others. Our first addition was a new mattress to provide a good night's rest after your day in the sun. The kitchen and beach supplies are well stocked. We are happy to answer any questions you have about our vacation home and share our recommendations for enjoying Maalaea and exploring Maui.
Aloha, we are Pam and Brian from Palmer, Alaska, where Pam is a vegetable farmer and Brian works as a fisheries biologist. We have been vacationing in Hawaii for over 30 years and have found that we gravitate back to Maalaea where we have always felt most at home.
We love Maalaea's quiet laid back atmosphere. The beach is seldom crowded and Hauoli St. is a dead end road with very little traffic, so our walks to the beach or the restaurants are very relaxing. We like the ground floor unit because we can enjoy the view without having to look over or around the railings.
The whale watching is fabulous. Sugar Beach is perfect for morning runs and we enjoy being able to walk to restaurants; especially for Happy Hour. We can heartily recommend all the restaurants at Maalaea Harbor. The aquarium is a must see, consider buying the week pass so you visit more than once during your stay. The General Store at the Harbor and the Trading Post on Hauloli St. both offer a good selection of food items if you forgot something at the grocery store.
This condo unit is 100% oceanfront; 80 feet to the water's edge. The unit is centrally located along a quiet street. A short 5 minute walk in one direction leads to Sugar Beach, 5 miles of white sand with the ocean on one side and the Lealia Pond Wildlife Refuge on the inland side for the first 2.5 miles. A 10 minute walk in the other direction leads to Maalaea Harbor where excursion boats, 6 restaurants and the Maui Ocean Center can be found. The condo complex has beautiful grounds with a pool, jacuzzi and bbq area near the ocean's edge.
