Sweet Success is a classic duplex-style beach cottage just steps from the ocean, with a private path winding through sea oats, grasses, and beautuful sand dunes. Each side rents separately , or you can rent both sides when available. Check out our calendar... any dates shown as TENTATIVE indicate that one side is already booked. Accepting Sunday to Sunday rentals, full weeks only in summer months. Minimum rental off season is 3 nights.
You can bring 'man's best friend' along on vacation to this pet-friendly cottage, complete with 'doggie' gates on the ocean-side deck (great for little children too!). You can relax and enjoy the ocean breezes on the beach-side deck, or the view of our quiet neighborhood from the street-side deck (both furnished). Dine 'al fresco' at the picnic table oceanside. Relax in a hammock in the shade under the house! A gas grill is provided for your cooking pleasure, as well as a fully equiped kitchen (complete with microwave and toaster-oven for quick meals).

The master bedroom (street-side) has a private bath, and the second queen-sized- bed is oceanfront, with a beautiful view of the waves. A twin bunk-bed room separates these two bedrooms, with a hall bath just steps away. Sunsets and sunrises are both equally amazing from this south-facing beach. Stargazing is incredible from the ocean deck, and moonlight over the ocean is SO romantic!
This cottage is located in a uniquely low-traffic area, with no through traffic along Ocean Drive. The neighborhood is largely owner-occupied, with a limited number of rental houses. The new Emerald Isle bike path system connects our neighborhood with the shopping district. The washer/dryer is shared betweeen the west and east sides. Linens are not provided, but can be rented on the island if you choose not to bring your own.
If you are lucky, you may be here when a sea turtle nest is laid (May through August) or witness a 'boil' when a nest hatches (July -October). In 2012 we had two nests within 1/2 mile of Sweet Success. The 2013 nesting season is starting soon... can't wait for those sunrise walks!
When you've had enough fun in the sun, there are many local attractions to help make your vacation memorable. The North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores is a must-see! Come learn all about sea turtles and their rehabilitation in a new exhibit at a 'sea turtle rescue hospital'. Other area attractions include a maritime museum and boat-building facitlty in Beaufort, a Civil War era fort in a state park at the east end of the island, and the Tryon Palace/history museum in New Bern. Free outdoor concerts are heald throughout the summer in Emerald Isle, Swansboro, and at Fort Macon.
