First full summer on the rental market! Great ocean view, walking distance to beach boardwalk, and Golf Cart included with rental. Twelve year old 3br/2ba Ocean View marsh front home with extensive recent renovations, including refinished solid maple floors, new paint throughout, kitchen upgrades with DCS gas cook top and Bosch convection oven, brand new king bed in the master, new sleeper sofa, and new top of the line HVAC system, new propane grill, and more! Ideally located, this home is one block to the nearest beach walkway, one block to the neighborhood pool and two blocks to the Beach and Racquet Club. For your entertainment, there is a 37' flat screen television with cable in the living area and 19' flat screen television with cable and DVD player in the guest bedroom with the trundle bed, a selection of games, wireless Internet access and unlimited U.S. long distance calling . The best thing is it commands a stunning, panoramic view over about 1000 feet of marsh to the Atlantic beyond. A bar height table and chairs on the back deck makes the most of the view. On ground level below the back deck is a partially enclosed area with a sofa and loveseat under a ceiling fan, a hammock, 'porch' swing, and a large Adirondack chair with ottoman. A small garden lies between this area and the marsh and a small open deck with two Adirondack chairs and ottomans is situated adjacent to the garden. A birdbath and two feeders draw plenty of birds, so be sure to pick up some birdseed when you stop for your groceries. Often seen at the feeders: painted buntings, ground doves, cardinals, red winged blackbirds, cowbirds, boat tail grackles, marsh wrens, house finches, chickadees, and ring neck doves. And, in the marsh beyond: ibis, egrets, herons and if you look closely you may see a marsh hen! In addition to the Beach and Racquet Club facilities, this home also has access to a neighborhood pool, less than a block away.

Guestbook comments from the manager
We arrived with high expectations but what we found was extraordinary. Wonderful rental, wonderful weather and wonderful neighborhood that we found. Each day we intended to visit some sights but passed on them in order to stay at 3 Nautical Watch. We leave because we have to but we don't want to. We will return to Germany but one part of our hearts will stay here. PS: feeding the birds made a racoon happy!

ONE WORD - GORGEOUS!!!!!

  • 5 of 5
Hello Donna & Karl,

thank you for adding our Review from the guestbook!

And thank you for sharing this absolutely, beautiful and awesome Place with us...the guests!!!
We had a great time with our parents from Germany. They must go back to Germany, but we will definitely come back to these amazing place! I hope we can do this this year too.
The House is so clean, bright and colorful. You did a great job!
Is it so quiet, the view from the balcony is just amazing. This was our favorite place in the morning and in the evening!
We loved the ocean in the morning, we walked a lot and we saw some horseshoe crabs and one sting ray .
One day we drove to Savannah and the last day, when we leave, we made a carriage Tour in Charleston.
Now we are looking forward to come back to these dream place!
...maybe in Mai, we have new visitors with a little girl from Germany....:-)

Many greetings from Katrin & Timo.
Auf Wiedersehen !

LITTLE SLICE OF PARADISE!

  • 5 of 5
What a phenomenal week we had! This house is beautifully decorated and fully stocked and equipped for all your needs! Beautiful location overlooks marsh and Atlantic Ocean is visible from deck. Home was bright and airy and really well done. We enjoyed a week with our family of four (2 teenagers) and everyone relaxed and enjoyed the gorgeous island and all the natural beauty and wildlife. Great experience! We really appreciated all of the attention to detail and care that went into this home. Thanks for a fabulous experience!

AMAZING RENTAL!

  • 5 of 5
I almost hate to give this rental the wonderful review it deserves so I can keep it as my little secret, but I couldn't and wouldn't do that. I want the owners to get the praise they deserve and renters to be able to take advantage of this little slice of paradise in Harbor Island. This home couldn't be better for a family vacation. It has everything you could think of and a little more. I think the only item we needed and didn't find was a lemon zester. One can hardly be faulted for that. The home is beautifully decorated. It must have been recently renovated as everything is fresh and new and just lovely. The owners obviously have great taste. The house is light and airy with two sets of double doors and windows across the back that open onto the marsh. The marsh is teeming with wildlife and changes hourly with the rising and ebbing of the tide. There are two bird feeders that make for a relaxing morning of bird watching while having your morning cup of coffee or with your evening glass of wine. Our favorite spot was the outdoor room that is located underneath the porch. The pictures really do not do it justice. It is delightful. The vista from the outdoor couch is breathtaking. It overlooks the march and is framed by vines. If you watch closely, you'll be treated to the comings and goings of hummingbirds enjoying the flowers planted off the porch area. There is a box filled with games and puzzles in one of the bedroom closets. We thought that was a very nice touch. It's great to have your own neighborhood pool just steps away, or you can walk a little further and enjoy the larger raquet club pool. You also have access to the fitness center. My grandkids were a little disappointed that the waves weren't as big as they were used to, so we took a day trip to Tybee Island in Savannah to satisfy that desire. As for the area, Beaufort is only about a 20 minute drive away. They have a beautiful waterfront area and lots of great shops and restaurants. We highly recommend Bricks on Boundary. It's a short drive from downtown. We've always had great food there with bountiful serving size. Some other great places to are Luther's, Panini's, Dockside, Magnolia Cafe, and the Foolish Frog. We have mixed reviews on both Boondocks and Johnson Creek Tavern, having both very good and very bad experiences at both. We are looking at our calendars now for next year so we can get our rental in. We know that once it is discovered, this rental will be hard to come by.

Map

Harbor Island is the perfect spot for a quiet getaway or a fun filled family vacation! Wrapped by the Harbor River, Saint Helena Sound, the Atlantic Ocean, and Johnson’s Creek, the vistas are always changing. Stroll Harbor’s 2.5 miles of natural beach with a gentle slope, watching the dolphins playing offshore. Designated an Audubon Important Bird Area, Harbor Island is home to acres and acres of unspoiled marsh threaded by tidal creeks and host to a myriad of bird life including nesting egrets in the lagoon areas, where you can sometimes glimpse a gator. Fishing is allowed from the beach, and the Island has a small crabbing dock. A five minute ride will take you to neighboring Hunting Island State Park, with maritime forest, beach, fishing lagoon, lighthouse and fishing pier. Right across the Harbor River Bridge, Gay Seafood brings in fresh fish and shrimp. If you’d rather have the cooking done for you, The Shrimp Shack is just across the street from Gay’s. A long local tradition, it serves up mainly fried fresh seafood and simple fare available for takeout or to eat there on the picnic tables. Less than a quarter mile in the other direction is another long established casual restaurant, Johnson’s Creek Tavern, known locally as JCT. A combination bar and restaurant, you will find people of every age there enjoying meals or drinks indoors or on the outside decks, or listening to the live music occasionally offered. Many other restaurant options ranging from fast food to fine dining are available on nearby Saint Helena Island, Lady’s Island, and in Beaufort. Beaufort itself is 14 miles from Harbor Island (you will pass right through on your way to the Island). A charming historic town, you can easily spend a day or two just exploring the downtown historic district and the Bay Street area shopping district, strolling the waterfront park that stretches along the Intracoastal Waterway, browsing art galleries and antique shops, perhaps indulging yourself with a horse and carriage ride or a dolphin watching cruise on the Beaufort River. The area’s best golf is just minutes away & Savannah, Hilton Head and Charleston are easy day trips! Whether your pleasure is simply relaxing on the Harbor Island beach or by the pool, taking a kayak tour of the areas pristine waterways, or relishing fine waterfront dining, Harbor Island and the Beaufort area has all the ingredients for a memorable vacation.
