Absolute Beach is a family-run B&B beach house situated on the breathtaking South African West Coast. We are both a 4 room bed & breakfast, as well as an art-retreat.
Guests can either book all four rooms or an individual room for a single person/couple. These rooms share a communal lounge and kitchenette (microwave, fridge, crockery & cutlery - NO STOVE/OVEN). Guests also have their own communal BBQ/Braai area with a gas BBQ/Braai.
We aim to provide not only a relaxing atmosphere, where weary travelers can sit back and enjoy the tranquility of the West Coast, but also have the opportunity to engross themselves in one of our many 'art retreat packages' where they can fully express their artistic natures. Its all about helping you let your creativity flow
Whether it be lounging on the beach or warming up next to a crackling fire, guests will have the opportunity to unwind and discover an exciting landscape whilst taking part in a myriad of activities, ranging from the mellow to the extreme.
We also facilitate a refuge where artists of all backgrounds can come together to learn, share ideas and meet exciting like-minded people.
If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle for a bit of R&R, Absolute Beach is the perfect place to kick back and sooth your senses. Its time to explore some new artistic horizons.
Absolute Beach is perfectly positioned to make your West Coast getaway something to remember!
Absolute Beach is a family-run business of four like-minded individuals who love art, design and nature.
Our main aim is to meet fantastic people from all over the world! We strive to balance our lives through creativity, positivity and by immersing ourselves in the idyllic natural world around us. We are fortunate to enjoy paradise on a daily basis and would like to share it with all those who aim to enrich their own lives.
The West Coast has a unique kind of magic that has the ability to wiggle its way into your heart. The wild beauty of the area is impossible to deny and which undergoes an astounding seasonal transformation.
The property itself was bought by the family some 15 years ago. It was originally built as the perfect holiday home for our BIG family and then made a somewhat natural transition into a fabulous guest house.
The house itself was designed in such a way that we maximize every ray of sunshine and that we are protected from prevailing winds. The architecture has a way of making you feel at ease and its easy to simply kick-back and relax.
The ocean view is undoubtedly the most fabulous thing about our house.
Waking up to this view can shave years off your life and uplift your spirit like nothing else can.
Absolute Beach was designed from the ground up by one of the owners and has begun to developed its very own personality. Every nook & cranny tells a story of who we are and what we love!
St. Helena (including Britannia Bay) was first discovered by the 15th century navigator Vasco Da Gama, who came across the area whilst attempting to find the route to the East. He and his crew landed on November 1497 and named it Bahai da Santa Elena.
Britannia Bay is one of the eighteen bays that make up the stunning St. Helena area. St. Helena is well known for its thriving fishing village and awe inspiring sea views. The bountiful ocean waters are fed by the nutrient rich Benguela current and are renowned as one of the world's best fishing areas. We love watching the boats come in, laden with fish, and the skill with which the local ladies prepare them for eager customers.
The locals are well known for their good nature, friendly personalities and fascinating cultural heritage. Watching them working the harbor, especially during the 'snoek' catching season, is a marvel in itself!
St. Helena has unspoilt stretches of white beaches that wind lazily around a coastline dotted with massive granite boulders. The pristine turquoise waters beckon you to take a refreshing plunge and catch a wave or two. If you are interested in relaxing on the beach and absorbing some sunshine, or perhaps meandering along the shoreline looking for that 'perfect' shell, then this is the place for you.
The area is well known for the playful heaviside and dusky dolphins that come to feed on the massive abundance of fish. Southern right whales come to the area during the latter half of the year to calve and mate. Killer whales and humpback whales are also known to visit this particular stretch of ocean. Seals and penguins also like to waddle up the beach and enjoy this little slice of paradise.
The West Coast spring flowers are one of the highlights on our local calendar (August - September). If we have favorable winter rains we are blessed by an explosion of colour, as the 'veld' comes alive with a countless myriad of gorgeous flowers.
Summers are hot and the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beach. You can bring along your fishing rod, or perhaps even try your hand at catching fresh crayfish off the nearby rocks. This is also the best time to take part in more 'energetic pursuits', such as surfing, kayaking, kiteboarding and windsurfing.
No matter what time of the year you decide to visit the area, there will always be something interesting to see and do. Every season has its own unique kind of magic that makes it special!
