CASITA DE LAS ESTRELLAS -WALK TO PLAZA, QUIET, PRIVATE

Santa Fe Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Full-size Foldout Couch,sleeps 3

Welcome! Casita de las Estrellas (small house of the stars) has now been open for almost a year for vacation rental stays. Please read the reviews from some of those who have stayed. Everything is new, except for the hand-carved wooden furniture. New bed, linens, dishes, etc. We have two other long time rentals on Homeaway with superior ratings. Casita de las Estrellas is the smallest of our three casitas (but still very comfortable and attractively decorated) and that is reflected in the price.

Casita de las Estrellas is the epitome of the charming, authentic casita that everyone looks for when visiting Santa Fe, located within a 10-15 min. (.7 mile) walk of old Santa Fe's picturesque plaza. In the summer, enjoy the private flagstone patio/garden area exclusively for the use of Casita de las Estrellas. There is a larger garden area that is for the use of Casita de la Luna and Casita del Sol. I have this policy as I feel that when all of the casitas are occupied, that would be too many people to use the larger garden comfortably.

In the winter, cozy up by your own kiva fireplace. The casita is very secluded and quiet, featuring authentic hand-painted Mexican tile and coved ceilings with original vigas, furnished with hand-carved southwestern style furniture. The bedroom features fine linens for a wonderful night's sleep. There is a shower only. Casita de las Estrellas features a full-size sleeper sofa in the living room area. The sunny atmosphere is the result of skylights throughout. Tastefully decorated with attractive artwork and hand-woven rugs. Off-street parking available as well as laundry facilities. Upon your arrival, you will find all the ingredients for a continental breakfast! The casita is maintained with care and pride.

Cooling: The casita does not have central air conditioning. We have provided a portable air conditioner and fans for the summer months if people want to use them. The casita is the original adobe construction which has been used in New Mexico for centuries. The adobe walls keep the casitas cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only kind of air conditioning that I could put in these historic buildings would be window units and I refuse to do that as they can be quite noisy and unsightly. In addition, in Santa Fe, the nights are about 25-30 degrees cooler than the days, so we do not have hot summer nights.

My husband and I bought this property more than twelve years ago. I love owning the property and knowing the people who come back year after year. We have lived in Santa Fe for over thirteen years and live a little bit outside of the city limits. We have a 16-year-old son, two collies and a cat.

Roxanne Connan purchased this bungalow in 2002

When I first saw it, I knew it was the one because of the privacy, quiet and peacefulness. Short walk (10-15 minutes) to the plaza, but less expensive than staying on the East side. A few blocks from the new Railyard.

I always put in the makings for a breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, jam, fruit, butter) so people won't have to arrive in the afternoon and then immediately go find a grocery store.

Everything you hope for in a vacation rental is here and presented in a clean, welcoming way. The living room is comfortable and cozy. The stereo was great and TV nice for evenings at home. The welcome basket and breakfast were over the top excellent. We loved our comfy bed and bedding, furnishings and ambiance. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook at home.Absolutely love the architecture of the ceilings and stucco walls. The basket with info about all of the points of interest was very helpful and informative. I hate to recommend this casita because then everyone will want to rent it, and then the next time I want to rent it, it may be booked! We will come back again and again. We agree that it is for 50 ish lifestyle folks in this area.Art, shopping and food! We felt very safe. Roxanne was so helpful and accommodating. The location to Old Town is 1/2 mile and a lovely walk. The train station area was fun and had good food and shops. Patti and Brad, Grimsby, Ontario
Owner's Response: Dear Patti and Brad,
Thank you so much for your kind and very inclusive comments. It really does mean a lot to me. I'm sorry that I was not able to stop for that glass of wine, but had to pick the kid up at the orthodontist. By the next time you come, he will have a driver's license and can drive himself!
Regards, Roxanne

Perfect in Every Way

I felt lucky to have found this casita as soon as I walked in the door--and that feeling continued throughout the stay. Las Estrellas is aesthetic, clean, and quiet. It is in an old non-commercial neighborhood that feels "tucked away" but is convenient to everything (easy and safe walk to the plaza, tons of great restaurants, Canyon Rd. etc.). The kitchen is incredibly well equipped and the owners provided a "starter kit" of breakfast foods that lasted most of the week. There was plenty of wood available for fires. The pictures of this casita are nice--but the casita itself is far nicer. I had called about other properties before finding Las Estrellas, and found all the rules, fees, and fine-print to be off-putting. These owners were so personable and easy to work with. I would love to return and only hope that, when I travel elsewhere, I can find a rental that is as nice.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. I appreciate you taking the time. We hope you can come again. Roxanne

Wow. The owners have thought of everything and everything is very high quality. An aesthetic, quiet, and efficient casita. Walkable to just about everything and nestled into a authentic neighborhood. The pictures are nice. The casita is even better.
Owner's Response: Dear Lynda,
Thank you very much for your kind comments. It means a lot to me, as I always try to make the casitas the best experience that I can for our guests. We hope that you can return in the future.

A delightful week in Santa Fe.

My overall impression of this property is that everything was 1st rate. It's obvious a lot of care and thought went into furnishing this Casita. We were very comfortable. Everything worked well. There was nothing more we could ask for. My question re: getting on line was resolved in about 2 minutes. The location was ideal. We could walk or take a short drive to everything we wanted to see. SF's location puts day trips like O'keefe touring and Bandelier no more than an hour away. Restaurants that we most enjoyed were Dinner for 4, The Shed, Upper Crust, Pizza Centro, Tomasita's, and Tia Sophia's. The 3 unit complex has me thinking about a family vacation with my two children and their families.
Overall, we enjoyed our week @ Casita De Las Estrellas, and would not hesitate recommending this property to our friends.
Owner's Response: Dear Mr. & Mrs. M.,

Thanks very much for your review. I see that you ate at Dinner for 4. My husband and I love that place. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Come back again!

Regards,
Roxanne
