Overview

Santa Fe Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Full-size Foldout Couch,sleeps 3

Casita de las Estrellas is the epitome of the charming, authentic casita that everyone looks for when visiting Santa Fe, located within a 10-15 min. (.7 mile) walk of old Santa Fe's picturesque plaza. In the summer, enjoy the private flagstone patio/garden area exclusively for the use of Casita de las Estrellas. There is a larger garden area that is for the use of our other two casitas. I have this policy as I feel that when all of the casitas are occupied, that would be too many people to use the larger garden comfortably.

In the winter, cozy up by your own kiva fireplace. The casita is very secluded and quiet, featuring authentic hand-painted Mexican tile and coved ceilings with original vigas, furnished with hand-carved southwestern style furniture. The bedroom features fine linens for a wonderful night's sleep. There is a shower only. Casita de las Estrellas features a full-size sleeper sofa in the living room area. The sunny atmosphere is the result of skylights throughout. Tastefully decorated with attractive artwork and hand-woven rugs. Off-street parking available as well as laundry facilities. Upon your arrival, you will find all the ingredients for a continental breakfast! The casita is maintained with care and pride.

Casita de las Estrellas is the smallest of our three casitas (but still very comfortable and attractively decorated) and that is reflected in the price.

Cooling: The casita does not have central air conditioning. We have provided a portable air conditioner and fans for the summer months if people want to use them. The casita is the original adobe construction which has been used in New Mexico for centuries. The adobe walls keep the casitas cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only kind of air conditioning that I could put in these historic buildings would be window units and I refuse to do that as they can be quite noisy and unsightly. In addition, in Santa Fe, the nights are about 25-30 degrees cooler than the days, so we do not have hot summer nights.

About Roxanne Connan

My husband and I bought this property more than twelve years ago. I love owning the property and knowing the people who come back year after year. We have lived in Santa Fe for over thirteen years and live a little bit outside of the city limits. We have a 16-year-old son, two collies and a cat.

Roxanne Connan purchased this bungalow in 2002

Why Roxanne Connan chose Santa Fe

When I first saw it, I knew it was the one because of the privacy, quiet and peacefulness. Short walk (10-15 minutes) to the plaza, but less expensive than staying on the East side. A few blocks from the new Railyard.

What makes this bungalow unique

I always put in the makings for a breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, jam, fruit, butter) so people won't have to arrive in the afternoon and then immediately go find a grocery store.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This casita is just perfect for two people! The bedding and towels were high quality and the kitchen was outfitted with everything you would need. After days of sightseeing or shopping, it was great to come back and relax in front of the cozy fireplace. We highly recommend your lovely casita!

Charming casita near downtown in quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month in this darling casita, within walking distance from the Plaza. We also enjoyed being so close to St. Francis, the main north/south road through Santa Fe. Roxanne was always available and offered extra amenities. Important for us, the bed was very comfortable, the towels thick and luxe, and the radiant heat a delight. We would definitely recommend the casita to anyone wishing to locate close in but in a quiet location too.

Owner's Response: Hi Jan, I'm glad that you found the bed to be so comfortable. I'm sure that you can find the same brand and type in Seattle. And thanks again for being the coffee taster and letting us know which you preferred. We could not have asked for any better coffee judges; a couple from Seattle! Hope you are able to return sometime. Roxanne

I spent an entire month at this adorable casita and could not have been more pleased. The high coved ceilings made it feel larger. Can't wait to return for the Christmas holidays!

Quiet Gem near Downtown

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky to take advantage of a cancellation and stay at this wonderful casita during Indian Market week. We felt immediately at home and appreciated the cleanliness and amenities provided by our hosts. We loved having our own private patio for morning coffee and afternoon cocktails. The proximity to the Railyard and the Plaza allowed us to walk everywhere. We would love to come back in the winter to enjoy the kiva fireplace. Thank you for a great nine days in Santa Fe.

This Adobe is Adorable

  • 5 of 5

Everything you hope for in a vacation rental is here and presented in a clean, welcoming way. The living room is comfortable and cozy. The stereo was great and TV nice for evenings at home. The welcome basket and breakfast were over the top excellent. We loved our comfy bed and bedding, furnishings and ambiance. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook at home.Absolutely love the architecture of the ceilings and stucco walls. The basket with info about all of the points of interest was very helpful and informative. I hate to recommend this casita because then everyone will want to rent it, and then the next time I want to rent it, it may be booked! We will come back again and again. We agree that it is for 50 ish lifestyle folks in this area.Art, shopping and food! We felt very safe. Roxanne was so helpful and accommodating. The location to Old Town is 1/2 mile and a lovely walk. The train station area was fun and had good food and shops. Patti and Brad, Grimsby, Ontario

Owner's Response: Dear Patti and Brad, Thank you so much for your kind and very inclusive comments. It really does mean a lot to me. I'm sorry that I was not able to stop for that glass of wine, but had to pick the kid up at the orthodontist. By the next time you come, he will have a driver's license and can drive himself! Regards, Roxanne

Perfect in Every Way

  • 5 of 5

I felt lucky to have found this casita as soon as I walked in the door--and that feeling continued throughout the stay. Las Estrellas is aesthetic, clean, and quiet. It is in an old non-commercial neighborhood that feels "tucked away" but is convenient to everything (easy and safe walk to the plaza, tons of great restaurants, Canyon Rd. etc.). The kitchen is incredibly well equipped and the owners provided a "starter kit" of breakfast foods that lasted most of the week. There was plenty of wood available for fires. The pictures of this casita are nice--but the casita itself is far nicer. I had called about other properties before finding Las Estrellas, and found all the rules, fees, and fine-print to be off-putting. These owners were so personable and easy to work with. I would love to return and only hope that, when I travel elsewhere, I can find a rental that is as nice.

Simply Perfect

Wow. The owners have thought of everything and everything is very high quality. An aesthetic, quiet, and efficient casita. Walkable to just about everything and nestled into a authentic neighborhood. The pictures are nice. The casita is even better.
