Villa Kanda is the perfect combination between the beach and the mountains. Located only a few minutes from the ocean, this villa is contemporary haven with a very tropical touch: thatched roof palapa, lush tropical palm trees, and breathtaking valley and ocean views, with amazing sunsets all year round.
The state-of-the-art kitchen, connected in an open layout with the living and swimming pool area, make this villa ideal for a family or a group vacation. From every room of the house you enjoy the splendid views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, where howler monkeys and countless bird species may be spotted.
Villa Kanda offers complete privacy as it is nestled in a gated community, on the top of a mountain and overlooking unspoiled views of the sabana countryside. However, if you are looking for fun and activity, the villa is located only 15 minutes away from Tamarindo, where you can enjoy all type of beach activities: surfing, fishing, diving, sunset sail tours, as well as shops, restaurants and night life.
The house has two levels: the first one with all the living space and one of the guest bedrooms, and the second level has the other guest bedroom, the spacious Master Bedroom and an ample terrace with breathtaking views.
The tatched roof living area is a great space for enjoying your tropical escapade, overlooking the swimming pool and the surrounding mountains. A fully equipped kitchen that opens into the living area creates the perfect atmosphere for families or friends to get together and enjoy the sunny days and breezy nights of Guanacaste.
Each of the three bedrooms has a king size bed, and one of the bedrooms have two additional single beds, so the house may comfortably accommodate up to 8 adults (although we can make arrangements to sleep a few more). The master has a large bathtub, a desk area, tv and a beautiful terrace overlooking the magnificent lanscape. The house also offers a tv room, perfect to watch sports or for kids, and wifi is available in all rooms of the house.
The house is located on a hill, so a 4 wheel drive is necessary to access the property.

Tamarindo has been our home for over 12 years, we enjoy the beach and the good surfing all year round, as well as the tranquility and the majestic views of our mountain retreat. Nearby schools, shops and no traffic jams make it the perfect place to raise our child and enjoy life!
Villa Kanda sits on a hill which gives the property three unique features:
1-It is absolutely private.
2-Nice breezes make create a fresh atmosphere all year round.
3-The breathtaking mountain and valley view reaches unobstructively until the ocean.

We had a wonderful time a Villa Kanda. It was truly better than it looks on line. We were fascinated wight he architecture and the great thought put into it. We were very well taken care of enjoyed our stay so much and hated to leave. We would definitely go again.
Thank you so much for making our stay with you so wonderful. We absolutely loved our time at your beautiful house. We really felt like we were staying in a home that could have been featured in Architectural Digest! We loved the outdoor living room, the state of the art kitchen, the bedrooms and individual ensuites, the pool and terraces, and the incredible view and sunsets. Alejandra was wonderful with any questions we had about the house or where to go surfing (great instructor), zip lining, or deep sea fishing. Also where to find the best beaches and restaurants( Lola's, Pangas). We will be back!!! Thank you again Alejandra and Marc.
We had 3 couples in our group. While the master suite is extraordinary all bedrooms were special. The housekeeper and groundskeeper were beyond wonderful. The sunsets were breathtaking!! The pool was always just the right temperature and immaculate. The homeowner was extremely helpful in helping us arrange our vacation. Loved everything about our stay!
Villa Kanda was an absolute pleasure. We were optimistic from the Home Away photographs but absolutely floored when we arrived – the pictures do not do it justice! The feeling as you walk into the home is instant zen and peace and is designed with such care for guests. It is a luxurious design with an emphasis on indoor-outdoor living, comfort and privacy. The view was outstanding - you cannot see another home in site for miles – we felt like we were living on a Spanish country estate! Not to mention the ocean sunset every night….
We came as a group of four (two couples)and the villa was more than enough room for us but I would not recommend a group more than six, only because of the amount of bedrooms. We felt that the house provided everything we could possibly need, including beach accessories, umbrellas, hair dryers, etc. Besides groceries, we didn’t need a thing.
The kitchen is very well equipped so we were able to cook at our leisure. We also hired a private chef (Fabien Mandrea) to come several nights who was excellent. Alejandra recommended him to us and we were pleasantly surprised at how talented he was. We would recommend to do this at least one night as it’s very cost effective.
We also hired a masseuse (Caroline Lemaire) to come two evenings and again we were surprised at the talent. All four of us agreed it was the best massage we ever had! They set up at the pool outdoors and promise, this massage under the stars was one to remember.
I also have to mention that Alejandra was MORE than helpful and accommodating. She helped us book activities, tour guides, recommended taxis and chefs and even helped us to get groceries the first night when our flight arrived late! She and Marc live on the property and were very easy to contact at any time.
The one issue our group had (and this was our fault as Alejandra mentions to rent a SUV in her guide book) is that we rented an insufficient car for the driveway. The driveway is unpaved and VERY steep so having an SUV with four wheel drive is an absolute necessity! And remember that it is almost impossible to find a car that isn’t stick-shift in Costa Rica so tune up your driving skills! I would also mention it is a bit difficult to find the house at first so I would recommend to have a phone available to call Alejandra when you first arrive.
We would absolutely recommend staying at Villa Kanda. It was a five star home with five star service and TEN star view. You won’t be disappointed - PURA VIDA!
Villa Kanda looked fantastic on HomeAway but it was even better than expected. I went with my wife and 3 friends for the thanksgiving break and had a fantastic vacation.
The villa is beautiful with great furniture which is also very comfortable. The location is beautiful, with breathtaking views (sunrise and sunset too!), which you can enjoy from the pool, terraces, hamacas, outdoor living room, state-of-the-art kitchen (we prepared a full thanks giving dinner, including the turkey which we bought at a supermarket which has everything) or bedrooms (the master bedroom is HUGE and has a HUGE terrace).
The villa is located in Finca Panama, which is 15-20 mins from Tamarindo (you need a 4x4). We saw monkey's in the wild a couple of times! Finca Panama is a gated community, so you feel very safe, but the good thing is that you don't see (or hear) any other properties from the villa.
One of the things that made our stay so special was having all the local knowledge - Alejandra shared with us a guide with their favorite, beaches, restaurants, surf spots (even instructors), spa services (4 professional masseuses came to the villa every evening to help us relax after a day of surfing) and day-trips. We never left the villa without it (it also had very easy to follow driving instructions). Our favorite beach was Avellana, which is both beautiful and great for surfing and has a very good restaurant (Lola's). Alejandra not only shared the guide, but also made herself available and was always happy to help (for example, when a surf instructor was not available, I called her and she immediately put us in touch with her son's instructor)
Yami, the housekeeper, was also extremely helpful (kept everything pristine and even washed some clothes) and the gardener kept the pool and garden in great shape too.
As anyone can see I am an extremely satisfied with my stay at Villa Kanda! I can't wait to get back!
Tamarindo is Costa Rica's top surf destination, with a wide variety of restaurants, bars, shops and fun activities. Given its central location, it's the perfect base for exploring the northern coastal area of Costa Rica.
