Jamesport Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description
4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 9
Enjoy your perfect summer beach house. 2.5 blocks from a large private beach on a dead-end street restored 1830's farmhouse with large deck, outdoor shower, big back yard with swing and vegetable garden. This home has been lovingly restored, with original heart pine floors and modern touches. Perfect for kids large and small. (We have two little girls).
The broad deck with BBQ (classic Weber) and long table and umbrella and plenty of room, opens up off of the dining room with 9' farm table and an eclectic set of old farm chairs. The adjacent chef's kitchen is equipped with a profession Italian Bertazzoni gas range, a great set of knives, and all-clad pans. Outdoor eating, grilling and cleaning up were never easier.
Off of the dining room is the large living room with custom sectional and flat screen TV. The large windows look out onto the front porch where lazy afternoons can be spent looking at the other restored Victorian homes in the neighborhood. Off of the living room through the French doors is the guest room with double sleigh bed overlooking the back yard. Next-door is the fully remodeled guest bath with luxury shower. Super nice!
Brand new LG steam front-loading washer drawer stack in the enclosed bathroom closet makes easy work of beach towels.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a full bath: the master bedroom with a low-slung queen size platform bed, the 2nd bedroom has a double and single bed and the third little bedroom has a twin and twin trundle (great for kids). All the mattresses are brand new organic, spring coil mattress with pillow tops (sleep well!). The house stays cool and there are ceiling fans in nearly every room. For those inclined to AC there are window units in 3 of the 4 bedrooms including the guest bedroom downstairs.
The Beach is just a 3 min stroll down the quite sidewalk equipped; tree-lined street that dead-ends at the neighborhood beach. Walk past the new playground set back from road and there is a deep white sand beach perfect for swimming. The bay is calm and sandy bottom slopes gentle out so little kids feel safe. Just past the point, on the far side of the beach is a favorite spot for shore fishing (Striped Bass and Bluefish). This is a breezy spot on the Peconic Bay so summer days stay cool. Don’t forget to bring your kite.
The wide flat grassy back yard (.25 acre) opens up on wood lot next door for added privacy. The old oak trees provide ample shade. An old swing perfect for little kids hangs from a study branch. A newly planted vegetable garden is just getting started and freshly planted flowers and shrubs are just being to take root. The landscaping is still a work in progress carefully tended by the owners.

My wife and I live in Brooklyn and bought this house as a place to get away from the city and to be close to nature. I’m an ex-chef (so the kitchen works) and my wife is the designer in the family so she is responsible for the houses eclectic style and careful color choices. We have two little girls (2 and 4) so the house is definitely kid friendly. We ask that you treat the home as you would your own, knowing that this is not rental property but a family retreat.
We are beach and wine people and we started coming to the North Fork about 5 years ago. After years of renting finally took the plunge when we found this house. It was the perfect balance of character, comfort and convenience. It’s an old house with the modest scale you would expect of 1830’s farmhouse. Originally built by one of the founding families of Jamesport, it is known as the Captain’s House, as it was built by a local sea captain. One of the neighborhood's original Scallop Shacks serves as a storage shed in the yard. When we began working on the house we wanted to create something that made living easy and enjoyable and not too fussy. We hope you will agree that it’s a very special place.
For those who are new to North Fork of Long Island and maybe considering various locations in Long Island. The North Fork is the less busy, less pretentious sister of the Hamptons scene. With fewer people, more farmland and vineyards the pace is slower, the traffic lighter and the atmosphere is more low key. Jamesport is often considered the gateway to the North Fork and is surrounded by some of the best vineyards on the North Fork (NFO), close to Riverhead and it’s excellent Aquarium.
There is golf, fishing, lots of boating, horseback riding, farmer’s market picking, and so much more.
