Hidden on a quiet East side backstreet, in a neighborhood recalling the days of old Santa Fe, Artesano is a romantic two bedroom, tri-level home completely remodeled in 2012 by internationally acclaimed designers Ira and Sylvia Seret and their team of outstanding local artisans. As soon as you step inside you will know the ordinary has been left behind. You will be living in a work of art - every aspect of the home has been handcrafted with remarkable attention to detail and harmony with its Southwestern surroundings. All within a short 10-minute walk to the galleries, shops and fine dining of Canyon Road.

The living room and kitchen began as a 1930’s adobe, and feature the original vigas above and new red sandstone floors below. Relax comfortably in the living room on the colorful Afgan kazzak covered couch and Monterey chairs or put together an intimate dinner in the kitchen appointed with century-old hand-carved wood facings and new luxury appliances. Dine on a colorful mosaic table of lapis and other semi-precious stones beneath 200 year-old hand-painted wood columns and ceiling panels. Sip wine on the patio while watching the sun go down over the Jemez Mountains in the distance as you listen to the gentle burbling of the courtyard water fountain and hummingbirds buzzing overhead.

Begin and end your days in bedrooms decorated with carved-wood doors and hand-painted chests from the 18th century, ikat and hand-stitched suzani fabrics, scraped wood floors and coved adobe ceilings supported by hand-carved beams. Enjoy the new sub-floor forced-air central heating and cooling system, or open the windows to the cool mountain air and snuggle under hand-embroidered comforters. Each bedroom has its own full bath, with floor, walls and ceiling covered by original mosaics of brilliantly colored tiles collected from around the world, as well as hand-carved antique wood panels and soapstone latticework.

Amenities include beautiful imported carpets in each room, two king-size beds, outdoor grill, enclosed patio with fountain, three flat screen TVs with satellite programming, Wi-Fi, a printer for your laptop, dishwasher, over/under small washer and dryer in a utility closet, central air and heat and off-street parking. 1100 square feet. Pets OK with permission of owner. No children under 12, please.

Artesano may also be rented together with Hummingbird to create a large 4 bedroom property that can comfortably sleep 10 if you are traveling with a larger family or group.

About Two Casitas,

This home is professionally managed my Two Casitas. Wendy Kapp is the owner of Two Casitas not the owner.

Having been raised in Chicago, My soul longed for the massive blue skies and mountains that I first saw when my Mother, now famous water color artist of Waxlander Gallery first introduced me to the magnificent area when I was only 6 years old. When traveling out west again back in 1975 I came through Santa Fe and fell in love with Northern New Mexico incredible sky's and landscape. I found the people here especially back in '75 to be the most authentic people I had ever met and I decided to make Santa Fe my home. My extensive knowledge from living here for 34 years makes me the perfect local hostess to give you tips on making your stay most memorable.

average rating of 4.5 based on 6 reviews

A cozy, warm place to call home.

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this cozy "work of art" is warm and welcoming. The staff are extremely helpful from initial contact to a thank you note after the stay. The only thing that was a tad difficult for us was the fact that the bathtub edge was higher than normal and there were no grab bars. Of course on the other side of this coin is that the tubs were deeper for a good soaking if you are so inclined. We definitely will return to Artesano on our next trip to Santa Fe.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the excellent review! Artesano truly is a special house. We pride ourselves on our personalized service, and we are so happy that it was well-received. That's a good thing to point out about the bathtub. We're glad you intend to come back! We can't wait to see you in Santa Fe again.

Nice, but heating needs to be fixed

Nice property. Very comfortable layout. Property was clean and well maintained. Location was ok. Parking great. Heating not so good. Living room / kitchen was very cold and needed to supplement with a large fire in the fireplace.

Owner's Response: Hi Lance, Thank you so much for staying with us. I am glad you enjoyed all about the home with the important exception of the heat. This is the first year we have had that property in the winter and the first time this issue has come up. We have been communicating with the owner about making sure it is running efficiently as when our matananance person went there right away and we came with more wood that did not seem to do the trick. I am so sorry if you were uncomfortable. We did make some adjustments and I have checked in with the current guests and they are quite comfortable. Thanks for letting us know as at least it helped for future guests.

Calm and beautiful home

This home is absolutely perfect for a vacation home. It is beautiful, was perfectly sized for our needs, and created a great experience for me and my friends. Thank you so much for that! We all kept marveling at how there was just the right amount of stuff in the place.... nothing felt unnecessary, and all wished we could keep our own homes like that. :-) The art and decoration is very well done. The bedding was amazing. I keep wondering how I can set up such a comfortable bed at home! You guys thought about everything we might need... from a coffee maker to serving bowls. Thanks for opening up this home for visitors.
