Mount Desert House Rental Photos and Description
Acadia Lodge is located on almost 3 acres on Acadia Mountain, with about 400 feet of deep waterfront on Somes Sound, our scenic fjord.
New in 2009, this extraordinary custom designed home with indigenous materials fits gracefully into the shoreline of Acadia National Park which it abuts and Acadia Mountain on which it is perched. The interior has open beams supported by cedars from the mountain. Granite steps lead down to a private dock with two moorings, and a path through the woods leads to a picnic site above the house with spectacular views.
From the house there is access to hiking trails. A fire pit and outdoor patio is sheltered under the cliff. Acadia Lodge has a porch on both the north and south sides. And an outside shower to wash off the local sand.
Walking in through the main entrance leads one directly into a foyer with an adjacent hall closet. On this open main floor is the ideal kitchen with high-end appliances, a soap stone sink, island with seating on whimsical stools made of local wood, and perfect lighting. The dining area sports a table with room for 8. In the living room there are plenty of comfortable couches, views of the ocean from almost every angle, a gas-fired stove; a Steinway grand piano, a half bathroom and the two porches on each end are all a part of this floor. The north-facing porch is large and covered. Stunning is the custom bead board wainscoting, cork floors, and rough-hewn cedar beams throughout.
On the top floor is a spacious master suite with a king bed, sitting area, built-in closets, and a large bathroom with a separate tub and also a beautiful shower. In the master suite is a pullout queen sofa and flat screen TV.
On the lower level are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and views of The Sound, plus a shared full bathroom with combined tub and shower. Washer and dryer are in a hallway closet on this level and there is a door to the garage for storage.
A path leads upward to a scenic overlook where guests are encouraged to picnic while enjoying the fantastic views.
Acadia Lodge has a private dock, two moorings, a rowing skiff and a single kayak.
