Welcome to Plantation Bungalows Maui! Do you ever need time to just stand still for a few days? Well it has…right here. This classic plantation-style home was built in 1926 by the HC&S Sugarcane company. The separate studio can sleep from 2-4 with all the comforts of home.
The home has been lovingly restored and is ready to transport you to the charm of yesteryear. This 3 bedroom, 1 bath home (sleeps 6-7 comfortably) has large and airy rooms with 10-foot-high celings and ceiling fans in every room. The house also includes A/C units for those really hot summer days, although most days you won't need A/C at all. The 'beach bath' just outside the kitchen is available to add to the conveniences. The studio adjacent to the house that can also be rented making this perfect for family gatherings. The detached cottage [VRBO 41601] on the property sleeps 4-6 for larger group gatherings. Rent one or all three!
Imagine sitting in the living Room or dining Room of this one-of-a-kind Hawaiian home as you sip on a cold drink. The fan whirs overhead as you listen to the ocean breezes and the multitude of tropical birds. The house sits on a large (1/2-acre) corner lot. The mature hedges, shade trees, and palms surrounding the property provide amazing privacy even though you’re just steps away from the beach and a short walk to shops.
The home has a private front-yard patio and BBQ area and a courtyard with hot tub and additional BBQ. Relax surrounded by lush mature palms, orchids, and other tropical plants with a large Royal Poinciana tree towering overhead.
The Plantation Bungalows property includes a cottage, VRBO listing #41601 and a studio making the property a perfect place for family gatherings.
Beaches
Kihei has some of the best beaches in the world. The house is just 300 feet from the beach so you can grab a mask, snorkel, and fins (provided as a complimentary service) and head down first thing in the morning to swim with the marine life. You’ll probably see large sea turtles while you snorkel. In the winter months, you can view whales from the shoreline as close as 100 yards offshore. Or grab a beach chair and a cold drink and take a very short walk to a private and sandy beach (suitable for small children). Kihei faces west so the sunsets here are amazing. If you’re looking for more excitement, take advantage of the multitude of beaches nearby for body surfing, surfing (you can take lessons at “The Cove” nearby), snorkeling, paddle boarding, or virtually any ocean activity you can think of!
The Town of Kihei
Kihei is a great tropical beach town and everything you need is within walking or cycling distance (cruiser-type bikes are available as a complimentary service). In fact, you may decide to just park the car. Kihei and nearby Wailea are also known for their fabulous golf courses. The Elleaire golf course is nearby as well as five more courses a few miles away. Kalama Park, just one block away, has tennis courts, an in-line skating rink, a skate park, award-winning restaurants, grocery stores, and a multitude of trinket shops.
