North Captiva is a small, secluded, bridge less island in south west Florida, only accessible by boat or private plane. If you're looking for a relaxing distraction-free getaway, North Captiva Island is for you. No motor powered vehicles are permitted on the island, but we provide golf carts or bicycles for your convenience.
There is a wildlife preservation on the south end of the island, where you can find bald eagles, bobcats, sea turtles and many more amazing creatures. During our warmest seasons, we are home to many manatees, however there are dozens of dolphins that live here year round.
When you rent a Safety Harbor Club home through Barnacle's Island Resort, you are granted access to Safety Harbor amenities, such as the dock age, community pool and tennis courts.
If you love being outdoors, there are tons of things to do! If the wildlife preserve isn't for you, check out our boat rentals! Take out one of our boats for the day or the week and enjoy some of the best fishing Florida has to offer. We also offer fishing charters, dolphin tours and many other boating activities. If boating isn't for you, check out our kayaks!
Our well renowned restaurant has lots to offer. Come in and enjoy a true island meal as you sit under the hand crafted Chickie hut built by local Seminole Indians.
When you're finished eating, make sure you head upstairs for some famous, homemade 'Queenie's Ice cream'. Made with all natural products and local fruits, it's irresistible! We also have Queenie's home made sorbets, also made with local fruits!
While you're enjoying your treat, snoop around the gift shop. We have all kinds of souvenirs, from key chains and cozies, to t-shirts, hats and fishing gear. We carry lots of women's island apparel too. However, if you're looking for something a little more special, we have plenty of island crafts done by local residents. From hand crafted, local sea glass necklaces and hand crafted Artisan soaps to the shampoo or Tylenol you may have forgotten at home. This is a can't miss boutique.
