CLASSIC MAINE WILDERNESS LODGE ON BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN LAKE

Woodstock Lodge Rental Photos and Description

6 bedrooms, 1full bathroom, one half bathroom, sleeps 14

Camp Mollocket is a 90 year old classic Maine lodge situated on a secluded mountain lake. While you are truly in the middle of the Maine forest, you will enjoy all modern amenities. The rustic “Grand Old Lady” charm has been maintained while the kitchen and baths were completely renovated and modernized in the fall of 2010. Sitting on 2 and ½ acres of land with 450 feet of private lake frontage and surrounded by forests, one can find at Camp Mollocket unparalleled peace and rest. The camp has its own private dock and a small private beach. Relax on the wraparound screened porch, cuddle up in front of the massive stone fireplace, or walk out the back door for some of the finest hiking and walking trails in Maine – there is something for everyone. Camp Mollocket is large enough for a family reunion, or cozy enough for a romantic getaway.

CAMP MOLLOCKET RENTS BY LENGTH OF STAY AND NUMBER OF BEDROOMS USED. SEE RATE SCHEDULE BELOW.

Camp Mollocket, set in the midst of the Maine forests on a beautiful mountain lake is truly a place to get away from it all. Here you can relax amidst the beauty of the Western Maine Mountains. This is a place where no one will bother you, and you can truly forget about the issues and challenges of our urbanized world. Solitude and peace are the watchword for this location. Shagg Pond provides excellent opportunities for water activities including swimming, boating and outstanding fishing. Enjoy the available canoe, sail boat and paddle boat.

See: www.campmollocket.com

But Camp Mollocket is still very accessible. It is only a 3 hour drive from the Boston area. Because it is off the normal summer vacation routes, detailed driving instructions will be needed to find the camp. These, of course, will be provided when you reserve your vacation time. Camp Mollocket is a large Maine lodge, but your stay at this Grand Old Lady can be tailored to meet your needs, from a getaway for two to a relatively large family reunion.

See: www.campmollocket.com

Despite the wonderful solitude you will experience at Camp Mollocket, you will still be within a reasonable driving distance of many attractions from golf to sight-seeing to antiquing to hiking and more. Some ideas of what attractions are nearby are found on the Camp Mollocket web site.

Loved this rustic but updated lodge! Very Private!

  • 5 of 5
About 25 years ago we rented a small camp on Shag pond and loved the pond and especially the waterfalls at the outlet. At the time my sister and I were taking a walk and noticed Camp Mollocket and commented on what a neat place it would be to rent and too bad that it appeared to be abandoned and in need of repair.
So now that our family vacation has grown to include 3 generations, 6 households, and one dog, I was excited to have the opportunity to rent the camp, and we were not disappointed.
The first thing new I noticed driving in were the wind mills. Living in Maine I have heard a lot of the pros and cons and my first thoughts were of excitement that I get the chance of being close to them and how elegant and peaceful they looked. These feelings stayed with me through the week. Even when we could hear the windmills they were really no louder than if a plane were passing overhead.
I will admit I, too, was a bit disappointed that the rain had made the beach so wet for the kids to play on, however they soon discovered the positive side ( and the frogs) and spent hours down there catching them and putting them into their mud castle.
As for the camp itself, we couldn’t have been happier. Every household had its private sleeping area with the family room dedicated as the kids room. This is the first camp we have had where we had the use of a dishwasher, washer and dryer, and the extra chest freezer. All of which are a bonus when you have that many people trying to get away for a week. The main floor of the camp is very roomy and with the large living room and the wrap around porch each having a large table there was plenty of room not only for eating but for lots of cards, games, puzzles, and arts and crafts. The screened porch was very much appreciated on the rainy days as we were still able to sit and enjoy the outside, the pond, and hear the loons, kingfishers, and other birds.
The caretaker, Dick, was a big help when a storm triggered a circuit breaker. He was there the next morning to reset it.
The only disappointment was in the fishing. While the little fisher people had plenty to catch, the bigger ones had no luck. However, they are making plans to check out other nearby ponds.
We want to thank the Wiersmas for renovating this beautiful rustic camp, keeping its grandeur in tack while making it very user friendly; and most of all for opening it up for renting and allowing us to share this special place. We are hoping to return next year.

A bit disappointing

  • 2 of 5
Camp Mollocket is truly a rustic Maine cottage. The house itself is what one would except. I will say it was large enough to accommodate our group and the screened in porch was fantastic even though one can only spy a glimpse of the pond due to all of the tree growth. Our biggest disappointment is the description of a "small private beach." This is in no way, shape or form a beach. After the very steep hike down to the water, we found a marshy, unkempt water access. It was so bad I went out and purchased a rake to try and clean up what I could so we could at least get the children down there to enjoy the water. Some in the group even went over to the public boat launch area just to use a "beach." The pond itself is crystal clear, and the sounds of the loons and sightings of moose were wonderful. They were of course inhibited by the nearly constant whooshing sound from the 10 wind turbines that sit atop the mountain on the opposite side and certainly detract from the natural views. Due to the overgrowth and steep terrain there is no place for little children to run around freely. While it was nice to spend time with family, it certainly was not what we expected. Over all, Camp Mollocket is in need of some TLC inside and especially outside. The "updated kitchen" did not have a screened window to open resulting in a very hot and uncomfortable room when preparing meals. I would like to mention that the caretaker, Dick, comes right over if there are any problems or concerns. We had an alarm sounding at 1 am which I was able to silence but had no idea what it was for, contacting Dick first thing in the morning and he came right over to take care of it.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that you had a disappointing experience at Camp Mollocket. During most weeks there is a small private sandy beach for children to play and swim in the shallow water. The beach had been raked twice before your arrival. Unfortunately this year Mother Nature played a dirty trick on us all with heavy rainfall in June, particularly just before your arrival. That, of course, raises the pond level and pretty much eliminates the beach for a short time. It was a warm and humid week, but opening the doors on either end of the kitchen and utilizing any of the six fans provided should have cooled the area down. The windmills on Spruce Mountain (2-3 miles away) are a recent renewable energy project. We support it, since it will lead to a more sustainable future. We do not hear the windmills. As we say in our description of Camp Mollocket, it is a rustic Maine lodge, located in the middle of the Maine forests. When we renovated 3 years ago we modernized the kitchen, adding new counters, cabinets, a dishwasher and new flooring. We built new and safer stairs to the second floor, added a bathroom, replaced the entire electrical system, replaced the entire plumbing system and added a new septic system and a water treatment system. We shored up the foundation and painted all paintable surfaces, inside and out. However, our goal was to keep the unique nature and spirit of Camp Mollocket that it has held in dignity for almost 100 years, including its natural setting surrounded by trees on all sides. We believe we accomplished this. We plan to maintain Camp Mollocket’s unique nature and spirit into the future.

Camp Mollocket is a dream!

  • 4 of 5
We spent Labor Day Weekend at Camp Mollocket and had a great time swimming, hiking and white water rafting. The house is secluded and offers privacy yet it has direct access to the lake. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful.

The house is spacious and very clean. The kitchen is very well equipped and has just about anything you would need. The rooms are all cozy and clean, and the place even has a state-of-the-art washer and dryer. The sun porch that wraps around the side facing the lake is very spacious and even has a swing - a great place to rest and enjoy the evening after a long hike.

We have been to Camp Mollocket twice now, and we will certainly return in the future.

Another great family stay at Camp Mollocket

  • 5 of 5
Our family enjoyed staying at Camp Mollocket so much last year that we decided to return for another family get-together. Since my husband & I live in Albuquerque and the rest of the family is scattered across New England, Shagg Pond offers a perfect central location for us to enjoy our time together. We love being able to walk down the path to the water which offers great swimming, fishing, and canoeing. The kids loved the peddle boat and we all enjoyed the comfy lodge and beautiful wrap-around porch overlooking the water. This may just be an annual vacation destination for our family reunions. - Sue B.

Loved this place!

  • 5 of 5
I rented this lodge July 7-14, 2012 for a family reunion/vacation. My husband & I moved to Albuquerque and wanted to visit with our family in one place - rather than driving all over New England. Camp Mollocket provided the perfect place to accommodate the needs of all 4 generations. My parents (ages 78 and almost 80) loved the wrap-around screen porch with views of the lake and cool breezes. The kids (big & little) loved the water and just hanging out at our own private beach. The paddle boat and canoe were a nice touch too. The living and dining areas were cozy and comfortable and the two dining tables - one inside and one on the porch worked out great for our family of 13. The 6 bedrooms were a plus - everyone had their own bed and all were quite comfortable. Our entire stay was a dream come true for me... having everyone together in such a beautiful setting. Hope to return next year. - Susan & Family
