RELAX AND ENJOY BEAUTIFUL WATAUGA LAKE!

This cabin was nicer than we expected. The beds were comfortable as were the sofa and chairs. There is no table to eat at on the deck or in the house only a breakfast bar, we brought our own. We didn't bother to use the grill as it was not in good condition. One stove burner was out and unfortunately the sliding glass door and front door didn't have screens so we had to keep them closed so the bugs wouldn't come inside. The air-conditioner is a wall unit in the living room only, however, it did cool the whole cabin. The only really disappointing feature is this cabin is built on a hill/mountain which is very steep, not actually on the water, the view is minimal and not where you can access it. Getting to the water/kayaks is difficult. We drove as close as we could to the community launching area and then had to climb down a steep area to get to the lake. This is not a place for anyone with mobility issues. It would be difficult for young children/elderly to climb down and up. Our dogs loved it, but, to walk them you either climb up or down as there was no level area to walk them. The small yard was taken up by a boat parked on the side of the house. The lake is gorgeous, the water is clean. The area is beautiful.

All in all it's a cute cozy cabin in a fairly secluded area. The cabin is comfortable and in the woods but potential renters should know it's a walk to to the water and that access to the water is through a neighbors yard. There's just a sliver of a view of the water. We love to cook and found the main burner of the stove didn't work and there were no pot holders which after getting burned did cause some frustration. The outside lights didn't work and I had to put the burner for the grill back together to get it to work. There was no screen in the kitchen door and deck door and the remaining screen door was broken so all of that contributed to a bug issue inside the house. Not a big deal since I spent my summers as a youth in a cabin much more rustic but the bugs were a problem for my wife. If these things were fixed and you don't mind not being on the water it's a good little place to spend your vacation.
