This cottage is tucked away in a quiet community of mostly cottage homes and retired couples. Panoramic sunrise views of Green Lake in its full fall splendor can be seen from any room in the house. Relax with a beverage in the swing on the wraparound porch or inside in front of the fireplace on cold nights. If you are sharing your vacation with family or friends, you will want to draw straws on who sleeps in the newly renovated second floor master suite. The second floor commands primo views of the lake from the master bedroom and includes an office, den (fourth bedroom), full bath and an ''away room'' (if you have small children you understand). Bikes are available to ride to the Interlochen Arts Academy just 2 miles away. Listen to 'free' concerts on campus outside Kresege auditorium at Interlochen Center for the Arts or purchase tickets to enjoy incredible evening performances as you watch the sun set on the lake from your seats.
What a GREAT time my family and I had at your cottage. We loved all the charm and character of the home and it accomodated our family perfectly. We vacation together every year. We all agree that our time at your cottage will go down in the books as one of the best! Thank You for everything
This cottage worked very well for our family of two parents and six kids, ages 7-21. It was our home base for exploring the entire region. Sleeping arrangement were great. We also swam and kayaked in lovely Green Lake. The weather was cool the week we were there, and the fireplace was cozy at night. Grocery stores nearby were convenient.
This was just right for our Labor Day family getaway "Up North" with six adults and two children ages 3 and 4. The house was spacious enough that we never felt like we were on top of each other, and I think that has a lot to do with the remodeling that the owner must have recently done -- I loved the separate dining space off the entrance, and the upper level is just stunning. There was a desk for those who needed to get some work done (unfortunately!). Our little ones loved the small bedroom off the upstairs, and the adjacent den was a great spot for them to watch movies and play yet still be close enough that the adults could hear all was well. The lake is "across the street," but we're talking about 15 steps and you're there. The kitchen is VERY well-equipped -- plenty of dishes and glasses for everyone without having to run the dishwasher constantly. The old stove worked SO great! One burner seemed a little less hot but hey, that's part of the charm. Everything was in working order, and the house is even nicer than the photos make it seem. The porch swing, or "swing chair" as my 3 year old called it, was a HUGE hit with the kids and adults. And the small fire pit/ring in the front yard was JUST perfect for s'mores after dinner. Like others have said in reviews, the location is grand as well -- away from the high prices of Traverse City but close enough that you can go to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Arbor, Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas, etc., and not feel like you've been in the car the whole trip. There are two large, well-stocked grocery stores only a couple miles away, which made making meals at home convenient and easy. The only *slight* negative was the size of the bedrooms on the lower level, especially the one that uses the bathroom in the hallway, but after one night, we felt like it was just part of the cozy charm. We would stay again in a heartbeat.
A return visit to the Dream Catcher Cottage. What a nice surprise to see that the dining area had been recently expanded. This cottage has everything you could possibly need or want. The kitchen is chock full of all kinds of extras. The furnishings are comfy, with a designer flair. You will absolutely love the three fireplaces, especially the one in the master bedroom! Jen & Kevin, the owners are easy to work with. They have a notebook filled with ideas of things to do and places to visit. Looking forward to our next trip and taking in a concert at Interlochen.
This cottage is the perfect mix of traditional and new. It has a lovely up north feeling with three fireplaces, mixed with a gorgeous renovation of the upstairs. Really there are four separate sleeping areas and three bathrooms, making it spacious and comfortable. There were extra touches everywhere like extra blankets and pillows, and the kitchen is fantastic - I loved the retro stove! We had a beautiful campfire looking at the lovely lake, and the porch swing was a hit too. We booked this to be close to the state park where family was camping. Can't wait to book it again!
Spent our Anniversary weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday and really enjoyed our stay. The house is great the three fireplaces were very cozy and the scenary was awesome, we will definitely stay again.
We spent a wonderful week at this cottage. It is exactly as shown in the listing. The house was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. It is much better equiped than other rentals we have used. The neighborhood is very quiet and the neighbors are friendly and helpful. The property is extremely convenient to Interlochen Arts Camp and is a good location for side trips to Traverse City, Empire, Glen Arbor and Leeland.
Gourmet dining, shopping and entertainment await you in Traverse City, just 13 miles away, though Interlochen also boasts a homemade bakery shop and the Hoffbrau, a local favorite with great food and atmosphere. Drive a half hour in the opposite direction to enjoy the quaint little towns of Empire and Frankfurt with their sweeping vistas of Lake Michigan along the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shoreline.
Check out the hiking and biking trail maps in the cottage for a list of the many beautifully wooded trails in the area. If fishing is your pleasure, Green Lake is just one of the 50+ area lakes that boast some of Michigan's best boat or ice fishing and its right outside your door. Whether you are looking for a relaxing getaway or an opportunity to enjoy your favorite sport, this is the place you've been looking for.
