Feel the ocean spray while you relax on the deck of this 3-unit townhouse named Mi Casa bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in front and the Matanzas River Inlet on the side. Very private dog friendly beach in an oceanfront homes section with no cars allowed on the beach ( we're an island connected to the mainland by Hwy A1A bridges on each end). When the tides out kids have great fun searching tidal pools for critters. Fort Matanzas National Monument is on the other side of the bridge within walking distance. 2 miles north you can rent boats and kayaks and buy bait. 3 miles south is Marineland where you can swim with dolphins or go on a kayak guided tour. Waterfront seafood restaurant across the street where you can bring your pet, and a gas/convenience store 1 block away. Brick charcoal grill outside. Fully equipped kitchen to spend a weekend or 6 months.
Sleeping arrangements: downstairs two full size beds roll out from beneath the elevated kitchen deck; upstairs is all master bedroom with a king bed; above the king bed is an open loft with two twin beds.

We love the quiet & solitude. When we moved to NE Florida in 1998 we visited St Augustine public beach and were not impressed by the crowds. 2011 was the first time we returned, and discovered Mi Casa. Our place on Summer Haven Island is the closest thing to a private beach you'll find for under $10 million. As soon as we stood on the deck, which really is on the beach, we told the realtor 'we'll take it!' Some of the yearly renters have come back 10 years in a row, and everyone has written wonderful reviews of the location and the updates & upgrades we've made. Sept '12 we shopped for another investment oceanfront condo and were amazed at the $4-500k condos that couldn't offer what Mi Casa has. It was a challenge just to walk the distance out their crowded walkway over sand dunes to the waters edge. Mi Casa has us spoiled. Walking down our 5' wide steps is an unfair comparison. The rod holders on the deck railing are your first clue that nobody else is this close to the water! Some say it's like being on a boat!
Waking to the roar of the ocean is a wonderful experience. Coffee on the deck, then 2nd cup on the beach letting the dogs run free (oops, the leash slipped out of my hand). Birds huddled on the sandbar in front. Ride bikes on the beach and spot turtle nests and shells and critters caught in the tidal pools or get up on the hard road and bike the miles of paved bike path north and south. Spot a sea turtle or manatee or dolphins swimming past. Whales pass in front but I haven't spotted one myself. Watch the kite boarders sail 20' into the air. Watch the Ospreys shake in flight like a dog after diving for fish. Last year a Bald Eagle pair regularly fished out front off the rocks. Gaze at the shrimp boats with binoculars (provided) then drive up the road & buy tonights shrimp dinner you watched being caught. Enjoy surf-fishing then clean your catch on our fish cleaning station. The 3-grill brick BBQ has a smoker built in on the back side. View the stars in the near total darkness. Cross over the bridge & explore Fort Matanzas for free and its nature trail.
My husband, daughter and I stayed in this property for a glorious week. We loved being right in th beach and getting to have our dogs with us.
The location is fabulous. It is located at the inlet to the Mantanza River. This means that we were able to see the sunrise from our bed and were able to see the sunset from the bridge right next to the property. We were also able to walk across the bridge and along the shore on the other side. We had great fun watching the gopher tortoises from the boardwalk!
Our dogs loved having the run of the deck and the grassy area to do their business. We loved being able to take them down to the beach several times per day.
The unit is well supplied with just about everything you need to prepare meals that you can enjoy from the huge deck. The only things that we could have used were a vegetable pealer and a cheese grater. The blender was put through the paces and worked wonderfully.
The beds were comfortable and though the loft did not allow us much privacy, the huge, walk-in closet made a great dressing area.
In short, we loved every minute we spent at Mi Casa and can't wait to go back. Thank you for sharing this wonderful property with my family.
We so enjoyed our peaceful stay. We saw Osprey daily and a bald eagle. The other birds were a delight. This is a quiet, restful and lovely private beach. Great food across the street. Barry is a super owner and the condo is extremely well maintained. Three years staying a charm. Highly recommend if escaping the "tourist trap" crowd is what you prefer. Great for amature photogs too!
We were down in Florida and had a beautiful beach ceremony on the 3rd of May. The hotel for that evening was completely rude and very much ruined our carefully planned event. I had found this property online before and decided to contact the owner. Later that week I was able to surprise my wife with a beautiful day and night at this beach. I can not say enough about Barry and his willingness to help us out. He even left champaign for the occasion!
Thank you so much, for helping us make it an incredible memory that FAR overshadows the incompetence of the hotel that dropped the ball. We will be booking our honeymoon at this property within the next 24 hours!
My husband and I could not wait to stay here...we arrived and immediately met
Barry hard at work making a shower on the deck. Your place is spectacular....When our 3 and 5 yr. old grandchildren arrived they kept active the whole week finding starfish, hermit crabs and the minnows. My husband fished all week while I ran after the grandkids. This was a great vacation.....the view is beyond words...the place was clean and had everything you could want. As we left Saturday the 5 yr old said can we come back next year and I said yes, of course, however i'll have to rest up ....I'm exhausted!!
we really enjoyed out stay in "Mi Casa"....it was everything as described and more.....would be impossible to describe the location, it must be seen to understand. NO long walks to the beach cause you are right on it....well furnished, and very clean.....we loved it!
Spiral stairs were a bit of a challenge to us....that was the only downside....owner is very nice, pleasant, and helpful.
What an amazing place! The townhouse was just as described and well stocked with linens, towels, soap, etc. The house was very clean and very comfortable. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was fantastic. But even better, because of the location of the home, you never knew what type of sand bars you'd see when you looked outside. With the changing tides came new places to explore!
We brought out Yorkies and they just loved running on the beach, swimming in the tidal pools and hanging on the porch with us! The beach was pretty private and never crowded.
We had a problem with the AC on Saturday night and Barry has someone there (including himself) bright and early Sunday and it was fixed and working by Sunday afternoon! Barry and his wife couldn't have been nicer and you could tell they took pride in their home and wanted to ensure their guests had the best vacation possible.
I highly recommend going in to St. Augustine. We had a great dinner at the A1A Ale House and loved walking around the shops. The Seafood Shoppe has great fresh seafood. We ate at the restaurant across the street from the house and were underwhelmed. It was convenient but the food was not that great.
If you want to swim with the dolphins at Marineland, make your reservations early. They were all booked up so my daughter wasn't able to experience it.
The lady and gentleman that clean the place were very sweet and patient as we tried to get our car loaded on Saturday morning.
We will definitely be returning!
Walk, bike, or drive over the bridge to Fort Matanzas. It's free and very interesting. Park service boat transports you across the river to the fort, where a ranger gives interesting information about the history of the fort. The boat leaves on the half hour. Excellent nature trail thru the Matanzas National Park. 3 miles south and you can swim with dolphins at Marineland.
