Photos and Description of the Black Bart vacation cabin rental
2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

This updated Romantic Urban Cabin is centrally located, yet off the beaten track. The fully equipped kitchen has granite counters, newish appliances, maple cabinets and recessed lighting. The fireplace is a porcelain gas stove, no muss with fire-building, just flip the switch for instant warmth and atmosphere. All flooring replaced, fresh paint, new carpet, drapes - all very clean. Comfy, knotty-pine living room with dimmed lighting throughout creates a warm ambiance. The wrap-around porch with it's Adirondack chairs gives a very Ralph Lauren feeling. Adjacent to acres of open space; it is great for hikes, long walks and romping with kids and dogs.

An entry through convenient mudroom with washer and dryer is place to stash ski equipment, boots and wet gear.

Pets are considered and smoking is allowed outside on the covered porch only.

About Dee

We came from the mid-west as college students for a summer job. Kathy and I have been friends since we met as black jack dealers at Sahara Tahoe in the early 1970's; it was a summer vacation that lasted for more than a decade! Eventually our lives went in various directions but our hearts and souls have been embedded in Lake Tahoe since that first summer. Kathy is now a casino manager in Reno and I have a career in real estate in the Bay Area - town of Los Gatos.

Dee purchased this cabin in 2000
Why Dee chose Black Bart

Tahoe in the 70's was deliciously decadent; the result of sharing that experience created life-long friendships for about 20 of us 'girls.' Though few of us remained at the Lake after 1980, we return almost every summer for our annual 'Reunion;' next year will be the 30th anniversary of those reunions. We rent a big, comfortable house either on the Lake or with a fabulous view of the Lake and spend 4-5 days reminiscing or trying to re-create those crazy times. And we have a blast! As our reunion group gets smaller, we spend most of our vacation reunions in our cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

We love being off the beaten track, yet right in the center of S. Lake Tahoe. All the open space behind the cabin makes us feel like we are in the woods, it's great to hike along Trout Creek enjoying the huge meadows that are all around the cabin.

Completely Perfect!

Absolutely loved the cabin! It was so cozy and nice. It was very snowy during our stay, but the gas fireplace kept us warm blooded, honeymooning San Diegans toasty the whole time. The master bed was very comfortable, and the couch/chair in the living room were comfy too. Everything about it was perfect.

It's perfectly located too, 5 minutes from whatever groceries/shopping you would need. We took a drive around the lake to check out the other towns around it, South Lake Tahoe is definitely where all the action is! If you're into skiing, this is the place to camp out.

Also, Dee was extremely pleasant and accommodating. On the day before we were supposed to leave a huge snow storm blew in and we were going to have to stay another night somewhere else it seemed. But as I was weighing our options and trying to figure something out, the phone rang and it was Dee. She put forth the effort for us to arrange for the cleaning people to come a day later and work it out with the guests who were staying after us to come a little later! Truly went above and beyond the call for us and exhibited real hospitality.

So thank you Dee for the great place to stay! And to any would-be honeymooners looking for a place to call home base, let me just say that it was an amazing place to stay and I wouldn't have traded it for anything else! If you're on the fence or having a hard time deciding, just go with this one! You have a wedding to plan anyway, it'll be easier once you can be at peace about having a nice place to honeymoon locked down.

Great cabin!

5 of 5
Submitted: January 7, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
We had a great time at this cabin! Despite new snow, the driveway was plowed regularly. The cabin provided plenty of space for a family of 4 and we enjoyed lovely winter wonderland views outside. We enjoyed cooking and sharing meals at the dinner table, watching films while sitting on comfortable sofas and arm chairs. The beds had extra blankets which was great for the winter! Kitchen had a lot of supplies: silverware, plates, pots and cooking equipment. We found plenty of herbs, souses, oils and etc. in the cabinets.

The cabin was only 10 minutes from Heavenly resort, and we were able to skip most of the traffic. When coming back after a day of snowboarding, we felt cold and tired, but it was easy to warm up the cabin and make hot tea.

We had a great New Year's day! Thank you so much for making the cabine such an enjoyable vacation home!
Owner's Response: Kathy and I are thrilled that the cabin was perfect for your New Year's in Tahoe. We appreciate your kind words; we try to keep the cabin exactly the way we like it when we come up. Thank you!

Perfect for vacation

The place is great to stay! We have got all the instruction how to use termostats, heaters, and lights, so it was easy to understand and follow landlord rules.
In spite of snow, the drive way was plough regularly.
We were 10 minutes from Heavenly resort, so we missed the most road traffic.
Returning back from the snowboarding day, we felt cold and tired, but it was easy to warm the house and boiled tea.
The cabin provided plenty of space to stay together and watch the lovely outside views. We enjoyed the cooking, sharing meals at the dinner table, watching films while sitting on comfortable sofas and arm chairs. The beds were supplied with extra blankets which is necessary for mountain winters!

Whenever we reached the kitchen we were impressed and pleased with the provided kitchen silverware, plates amounts, pots and updated equipment. At the cabinets we found plenty of herbs, souses, oils and etc.
Out new year celebration was great!
Thank you so much for making the cabine such enjoyable vacation home!

Wonderful home and perfect vacation location.

We stayed in June and as soon we got home we called Dee. Everything was perfect, clean and well maintained and Dee provided excellent customer service. We wanted to book a month during the summer. But, during the week we were in Tahoe, others had rented weeks within the months we were interested in. This is a wondeful home with everything a family would need during their vacation. The location is perfect for a peaceful time in Lake Tahoe. A short drive and you are in the middle of the tourist area of Tahoe. We highly recommend this home. Thank you, Dee,for allowing us to experience Lake Tahoe so much more by staying in your wonderful home. We are looking forward to going back again.

What a wonderful cabin with all the great amenities. Our family enjoyed the warm welcoming cabin, it had lots of wonderful features and special touches that made it so warm and inviting. Lots of memories for our family on this vacation. We will hope to be back real soon to enjoy more vacations. Great neighborhood and neighbors, close enough to everything and secluded enough to enjoy all the wilderness. ** two thumbs up** :)
