Spruce Pine House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 1/2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (sleeps 9 adults)

Welcome to Parkway Peek!

Indulge in our fully-renovated mountain home and enjoy 180° views of the Blue Ridge mountains and the Black Mountain range. Relaxing on the expansive deck, you'll hear nothing but the sounds of nature and the occasional passing train in the distance. At 3200ft above sea level, complete privacy awaits you within our 1 1/2 acre paradise located adjacent to the pristine Pisgah National Forest.

Located just 1.3 miles from the Bear Den exit (mile marker 324.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway), Parkway Peek is the perfect get away for couples, families or groups of friends. Featuring 3.5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, this 2-story home has everything you need for your perfect vacation: all new GE kitchen appliances, new granite counters in kitchen, renovated bathrooms (full bath with traditional shower/tub downstairs, custom glass shower upstairs), fully renovated downstairs, HUGE deck and screened porch. Stay a few days and take in the local sites or stay a week and use Parkway Peek as your 'jumping off point' for Asheville, Blowing Rock, Linville Falls or skiing at Sugar Mountain. We're within a 45minute drive from all that Western North Carolina has to offer!

Local attractions include: the historic Altapass Orchard (featuring live music and festivities throughout most of the year), Springmaid Mountain (horseback riding, tubing, fly fishing), Linville Falls, Linville Caverns, Wilson Creek Wilderness Area and many other hiking trails all within a 15-30minute drive up the Parkway to the north; Little Switzerland, Crabtree Falls and Mt. Mitchell are 15-45minutes down the Parkway to the south; Table Rock, Lake James, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, Boone, Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain and HawksNest are all within a 45minute drive.

Our section of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Highway 226 and the Bear Den exit is typically open year-round. Check local weather conditions and the Parkway website in the winter for possible temporary closures. A 4-wheel drive is not needed to access our property unless there has been a heavy snow. Our community road is maintained year-round and our driveway has flat access.

We hope you will enjoy our 'contemporary rustic' jewel in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains!

About Lesli

We are an energetic family of 4 (+ 2 dogs) currently residing in Charlotte, NC.

Lesli purchased this house in 2011

Why Lesli chose Spruce Pine

Spruce Pine provides a great central location in Western NC and our vacation home has one of the best views in the area! After renting many homes on VRBO over the years, we decided to purchase a home of our own that we could share with friends and family.

What makes this house unique

Privacy, privacy, privacy but with all of the modern conveniences! Be at one with nature or head into the 'big city' of Spruce Pine for grocieries, dining & shopping.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an awesome time with our families and friends. Our dogs and family loved it and we can't wait to come back!

Great stay after XMAS at Parkway Peek!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay for our after XMAS vacation at Parkway Peek! Greeted by a beautiful sunset on the back porch, we enjoyed the awesome views from the house and Blue Ridge Parkway. We had grandparents who stayed on the upper kitchen level along with adults, 3 kids, and a dog. All were very comfortable and and my worries of having only a wood burning stove were overrated. We stayed warm and cozy!

From playing cornhole on the deck and sitting by the fire pit, to going tubing at Hawksnest, Gem mining in town, everyone had a great time (and got along! lol). Also had a great lunch at Hef's in Spruce Pine and loved the fried Oreo's.

Thanks Lesli for your recommendations and checking in with us throughout our trip. We look forward to a return visit soon!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review, Brian. It's wonderful to hear that everyone had a great time. And yes, a wood-burning stove for your main heat source is actually an incredibly efficient & cozy alternative to electric or gas. Please do come back anytime! We're a four seasons destination.

Our Wonderful Stay at Parkway Peek

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful time we had at Parkway Peek! This is a very comfortable and beautifully decorated home with a fabulous view! It is also very well equip with lots of cozy blankets an comforters in the bedrooms and plenty of nice pots and pans and dishes and glasses in the kitchen. There is a big deck and a big screened in porch overlooking the mountains, as well as a lovely view from the master bedroom and living room. On top of being a great place to stay, the location is ideal. In no time we were in downtown Asheville or on one of the many lovely hiking trails, Linville Falls, Crabtree Falls, Springmaid etc., or viewing and buying arts and crafts at Penland Crafts School or one of the many art galleries and open artist's studios scattered throughout Asheville and many small surrounding towns. The parkway is right there and provides easy and scenic drives to Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, Moses Cone etc. And right in Spruce Pine there are fine galleries and one of the best restaurants in NC , Knife and Fork, for a casual but romantic and gastronomically delightful experience. Make your reservations early.

The owners of Parkway Peek, Lesli and David, are very accommodating and very nice. So book now if you want a mountain vacation with all of the comforts of home with in reach of almost all the mountains have to offer!

My 2nd Stay @ Parkway Peek! It's THE BEST!!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 3 other class mates stayed at Parkway Peek over the weekend of our 40th high school reunion. This was my second stay at P.Peek and everything was perfect! My friends were awed by the view and the immaculate home. The owners truly go out of their way to make sure everything you might want or need is included on the property. The owner asked me to critique the new housekeeper's work….. and hard as I tried, I couldn't find anything to complain about! (-: The view is simply the best. When you walk out upon the huge deck, any stress you might be carrying will just melt away. We enjoyed coffee by the fire pit one night and that was very relaxing. I can agree with another reviewer's comment that the pictures, as wonderful as they are, don't hold a candle to seeing this view in person. I am already looking forward to a 3rd stay at wonderful, peaceful Parkway Peek!!

Peace in the NC mountains

  • 5 of 5

Parkway Peek was a great place to unwind and get back to nature. The bed in the master bedroom looks out on the Black Mountains, and the property was actually more beautiful than the listing photos. The owner was available by phone and email to answer my questions. We enjoyed being near Spruce Pine and Little Switzerland. Many local businesses linked us to the best in NC and the world. DT's in Spruce Pine was the place to enjoy coffee, pastry, and sandwiches, and a great way to bump into old friends. The Twisted Laurel gallery in Downtown Spruce Pine showcases local (and world reknowned) artists in wood, clay, and glass, Little Switzerland Downtown (LSD) is also a great place to eat lunch and drink in the mountain air. All I can say is: "Love (and art) is in the air" in the NC Mountains, and Parkway Peek is a great place to renew and refresh.

What a view!!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have been renting cabins in the Blue Ridge for the last three year. We have been south to Bryson City and north to Shenadoah. Parkway Peeks is the new number 1. The cabin is in top notch condition, everything in great working order. The view from the deck in one in a million. My daughters came up for the weekend and we all just sat on the deck, talked and drank in the night sky. The owners where extremely helpful, sending daily emails with local events taking place in the area.
