Biarritz and its world famous beaches have attracted visitors since long before Napoleon III and his Empress Eugenia made it the site of their Summer Palace in the mid 1800s (now the site of the incomparable Hotel du Palais). Biarritz is small enough to walk and big enough to offer surprises every day of your stay in this pearl of a city. After unpacking your bags and leaving your car next door in the garage of the stunning new Library/Mediathèque, you will be ready to explore the charming streets and amazing beaches.
From the front door of our apartment building you can stroll across the street to Loubère, perhaps the best pâtisserie in the city or go just 10 steps to your left to Chez Yves --one of Biarritz’ best butchers, who has everything that you need to make dinner in the newly renovated and fully equipped granite and stainless steel kitchen.
Enjoy the sun on the short walk to the main beach, checking the menus of several fine restaurants, cafes and buying some ice cream or chocolate before kicking off your shoes as you pass the Casino and walk the beach – welcome to the stunningly beautiful Grande Plage. Enjoy a cool drink at one of the beachfront cafes – you are on vacation!
When you return, relax in the living room watching a DVD or using the high speed Wi-Fi Internet connection, or read yourself to sleep on the queen-size bed in the master bedroom while the kids play in their adjoining bedroom. Our lovely two-bedroom apartment is a flight of stairs up in beautiful stone building in the heart of the world famous Cote Basque. If you like to cook, the kitchen has everything needed for preparation of great home made meals using ingredients purchased fresh by you at Biarritz’ photogenic “Les Halles” market. Outdoor recreation opportunities like surfing, golfing, hiking, cycling, tennis and much more have been mainstays of vacationer’s like you for decades, but don’t forget to check the calendar at the performing arts center (home to the renowned Biarritz Ballet) and the Royal movie theater - both are just a 5 minute walk away.
If you want to go further afield, the historic cities of Bayonne and St Jean de Luz are about a 15-minute drive. In 30 minutes you can be in another world – the renowned tapas bars, restaurants and other attractions of San Sebastian, Spain. There is also easy access to the airport (BIQ) and train station, both less than 10 minutes by car.
