Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family had an awesome time at your house, it met all our expectations and more! The trip out was easy and fast and Fred managed everything-even lugging our 80 pound suitcase in for us! Beach was very nice and inviting and the kids were on the beach every morning by 0900. The interior was even nicer than the pictures, we felt we were living in a 5-star resort but couldn't see anyone else. We shall return next year for sure.

Great relaxing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time at this property for spring break. The weather was gorgeous and the house was ideal for us. We had four 16 year old boys with us and my main worry before arriving was that they would get bored with no shops, restaurants or attractions nearby but not a chance! They had a blast! And we all loved Freddy. He was incredibly helpful and absolutely made the vacation. His wife Mel was also a pleasure to meet. Freddy gave the boys some tips on where they might find tortoises and pigs and how to climb palm trees to get the coconuts! They caught some interesting fish and we saw so many dolphin and other types of sea life. It was a great adventure for all of us. Night time fires and days of exploring, shelling, kayaking, wave riding, tubing and snorkeling. On our way home we decided it was the most relaxing vacation any of us had ever taken. We can't wait to go back! Tip: Next time we will take more sunscreen and more bug spray!

A wonderful vacation destination

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our family spring break vacation with our four kids ages 17-21. We rated this vacation a 10! The island is a tropical paradise and the house is beautiful and has everything you need to be at home! Freddy, the caretaker was very helpful and we took our trip out to the island and we didn't return until our stay was over. He checked in regularly to see if we needed anything as did the owner. We didn't rent a boat and were never bored or wished we were back on the mainland. On our return trip Freddy even slowed up to get the dolphins to play with us! Thank you for a truly memorable experience! We hope to return!

Spring Break Get-A-Way

  • 5 of 5

This home was a great get-a-way from the typical Spring Break Florida vacations. It is private area with nearly no one on the beach at times. This island has shelling that far outweighs other Florida beaches, fishing from either the shoreline or well-maintained dock on the inter-coastal, and the occasionally seen deer and armadillo. A favorite past time was long walks on the 7 miles of beautiful coastline.

The home is just as it is described, well furnished, clean and everything you would need was supplied by the owner, and solar powered for 99% of the home's needs. The afternoon cross-breeze through the house was very comfortable. We only required the generator to run the central air for about an hour each evening for sleeping comfort, then used the ceiling fans.

It was our family's pleasure to have stayed at this home, the owner, Pierre, was helpful and responded to every question and concern personally. The property manager, Freddie, was a delight to get to know. He is a personable fellow and he truly wants the guests to have a pleasant and memorable vacation. He is a crucial resource. Freddie assists in arranging your arrival and provides a detailed "walk through" of the house and it's operations. If we had any questions, even questions not related to the property, but to the local area, Freddie was always available to us. We opted to use text messaging as our communication, but not a necessity.

We opted to rent a boat as we did visit a couple restaurants in Naples during our stay. Highly recommend Riverwalk at Tin City for seafood - reservations only for parties of 8 or more. Our adult children enjoyed the boat as an option for additional fishing and entertainment. The boat rental manager, Chuck, provided us with a fabulous boat with a 200 horsepower engine! Everything was in good working order on the vessel. No credit cards accepted for boat rental, payment arrangements made through Chuck and in our case, he was very flexible.

Make sure to plan in your time table travel time to and from the island, about an additional 30 -40 minutes, dock to dock. Freddie is also extremely helpful in loading and hauling all your luggage, groceries, etc to and from the house.

The only downside to this property is insects, no-seeums and mosquitos (mostly at night). But, let's be realists - it's Florida, a sparcely populated island, with lushious vegetation. Just use some bug spray and all is well.

This property is a hidden gem!

A little slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

My family just returned home from this incredible island home. We can not say enough about this home, the property, and the owner Pierre and his assistant Freddy. First off what was so nice was to have the owner check in with us a couple of times just to make sure everything was going good. Freddy his amazing assistant was so kind and helpful and truly delightful to spend some time. He helped us get settled in and also explained all we needed to know about the home. He also took the time to stop and show us some dolphin on the way to the property and on the way back. The boat right to and from the home was incredible. The dolphins were jumping and rolling over right in the wake of the boat.

The pictures of the home do not even do it justice. Every room has an amazing view of the ocean, and the home was so comfortable. It had everything we needed from pots and pans to a blender, to amazingly comfortable beds. The balcony of the master is a perfect spot to relax and take in the views. The beach was perfect, the sea shells were like none I have ever seen. The fishing was so much fun. The wildlife was stunning. Every time we turned around there was some new animal around the corner. We saw iguanas, an armadillo, a deer, a big sea turtle, dolphins. This was by far the best vacation spot I have ever been to. We will never forget this island paradise.

Wonderful Experience - Highly Recommend

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, and our two children (6 and 4) had a wonderful time. Just the experience of riding to the island on the boat and seeing all the dolphins and wildlife was a vacation in itself. The home was beautiful and very well organized and appointed. We do beach vacations often, and we really appreciated the decent pots and pans, stove/oven, and grill. There were lots of beach toys and the fishing was great from the dock/pier. I'd recommend renting a boat for the week so you can experience the intercoastal. I would highly recommend this house/island for a very relaxing (but not boring) getaway with your family.

An adventure in paradise

  • 5 of 5

We traveled to this home with our 3 teenage children. Everyone had a great time! Both the owner (Pierre) and the property manager (Freddy) were patient in answering my questions before booking and arrival. (For example, I was concerned about drinking water- Freddy assured me that there was a bottled water cooler to provide clean and clear water for drinking.) The home was clean and comfortable-just as pictured in the many photos above. Being off the grid, we knew that we'd be conserving the a/c usage during the day. This was the biggest challenge for our family. We didn't want to over-use the generator, and were very hot and muggy when we'd try to get a break from the sun in the afternoon. A small price to pay for the experiences we had when on island.

The use of the kayak and SUP, in addition to the fishing poles and supplies were what really put this vacation over the top. We spent time every day fishing-from the beach, dock, and even from the kayak in the mangroves across the channel. The poles and tackle provided were a good start, but visitors should plan to bring additional hooks, bait (frozen shrimp, cast net, etc), and lures. During our stay we caught pompano, snook, snapper, Jack Crevale and many catfish... also, a bonnet head shark, horseshoe crabs, starfish, and a sea hare. We did not rent a boat for our stay, but probably would if we return.

There is a lot of wildlife on the island- turning this vacation into an adventure! We saw dolphin, manatee, wild pigs, gopher tortoises, snakes, iguanas and deer nearly every day. If we go back again, we will probably bring thundersticks to scare away the hogs when encountered on the trail. We didn't have any problems with them, but I was a bit nervous.

This island was nearly deserted. We only saw a few other people on the beach during our entire stay. It really added to the feeling of being away from it all. The water was calm for most days during our stay, but really kicked up for a few days near the end of the week- the kids really enjoyed the crashing waves. Shelling was good. The water went from clear(ish) to murky depending on the waves and the sun. No complaints!

One last thing a visitor should know about is the bugs. This is S. FL and the insects are everywhere. We were able to minimize bites with skin-so-soft bug spray(avon)- which is the best for the no-see-ums. With spray on, we weren't too bothered at all.
