We could not have been happier with our vacation at Ida's cottage. Spent one night in Nassau prior and much preferred the peacefulness and beauty of Black Point. We could see water from every window in the house. The bluffs in the front were fun to hike around and breathtaking to watch the sunset and stars from the high points. There was a lot to explore around the big rocks and every new path led to a beautiful scene. Out the back of the house we enjoyed the wrap around balcony which had a path to a white sand beach which provided the perfect place to relax on Ida's lounge chairs and swim in the clear, calm water. As others have said it is definitely worth renting the boat one day. We also added the tour guide who led us to all of the fun stops (pigs, iguanas, snorkeling, grotto jumping) and stopped for a great lunch at Staniel Cay. Just make sure to clarify the price before you go as the tour guide asked for more money than we were told to expect to pay. We used the golf cart Ida provided every day to explore the island. We really enjoyed packing lunch and taking the golf cart to a private beach about 15 minutes away. It was like something from a postcard. Cottage was clean, well stocked and comfortable. We brought our own groceries and liquor which was helpful though there are a few places to eat on the Island. Ida was very accommodating the entire trip and provided transport from the airport and back. We haven't stopped talking about the trip since and can't wait to visit again!
My husband and I selected Ida's vacation cottages based on the wonderful reviews we read on HomeAway and we were not disappointed! We stayed in the Sandollar, which is a perfectly sized studio and very well kept. The kitchen had all we needed to cook basic meals, and we cooked fresh fish on the outdoor grill. Definitely plan to bring nonperishable items from home as there's not much available in Black Point. Ida provided us with fresh grouper (a meal for two nights) and two huge lobster tails. Both were amazing. We also got the coconut bread and carrot cake. I prefer the coconut bread and could eat it everyday for breakfast! The WiFi was surprisingly reliable for those who need it.
The beach in front of the cottages is small but very peaceful. The bay gets shallow enough at low tide that you can enjoy a leisurely stroll from one end to the next searching for seashells. The uninhabited and secluded beach on the other side of the island is a 5 minute golf cart ride away and it is absolutely gorgeous (we brought beach chairs, an umbrella, and a cooler with us on our golf cart), and if you go, you will most likely have it all to yourself.
We had dinner at Scorpion's sports bar where the owner was incredibly friendly and the woman who cooks there makes amazing Caribbean style chicken wings. We ate lunch at Lorraine's Cafe, which was wonderful and we really enjoyed sharing the time with Lorraine and her friends!
Last but not least, we highly recommend that you rent a boat for at least one day, and bring your camera (including an underwater camera) - is well worth it. We briefly stopped at iguana island on our way to thunderball grotto, which was much mo

The beach at the end of King's highway where there was to be a development is one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen! Take a few chairs, a cooler, some snacks and spend the day enjoying a beach pretty much all to yourself. We did rent a boat from Ida with a captain and I highly recommend it. You will get to see so many beautiful places all along the Exumas. The swimming pigs and Thunderboll grotto are a must.
We would absolutely recommend Ida's beautiful cottages to friends and family. Thank you Ida and we hope to see you again soon!
Our party of 10 spent 7 unforgettable days at Ida’s cottages. The plane ride from Nassau to Black Point was awesome. The kids absolutely loved to sit next to the pilot! When we arrived at Black Point, we were greeted by Ida with a big smile. She drove us through the village and showed us around on our way to the cottages. The view from each cottage was absolutely breathtaking!! The houses had fully equipped kitchens, nice living rooms, VERY comfortable beds and once again the view from every room was just to die for :) We had 2 golf carts, which were a HUGE plus and allowed us to explore the island at our own pace. The local people were very nice and welcoming. We rented a boat a couple of times and visited the pigs, iguanas, stopped by at Staniel Cay for lunch, snorkeled with the sharks, also visited Thunderball Grotto. Our favorite Cay was Sandy Bar Cay near The Pig Beach. If you go to visit pigs or iguanas, bring them some bread or salad leaves. They really love it! Our neighbors recommended us to hire a local guy Scooter (nickname) who made us absolutely fabulous conch salad. We fell in love with the coconut bread that we bought at the local store. Absolutely amazing! Overall it was the best vacation we ever had! Ida is the most exceptional host that you will ever meet!! We highly recommend Black Point and Ida’s cottages!!
A few tips: if you have time in Nassau to go to the store, we would advise to go to Super Value Market. Prices are very dissent and the store has everything you might want – fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, yogurts, pasta etc. There is another store called Fresh Market – totally overpriced.
Ida had everything all figured out and was very available for anything we needed. Picked us up from the airport, helped us with renting a boat (theres only one option on the island), and provided a golf cart for us for our stay. The boat rental with guide was pricy(several hundreds of dollars for the day) but is worth it for all the amazing sights and experiences. She brought us homemade coconut bread and conch fritters as well (which we interpreted as gifts but were in fact billed for later). The cottage was perfect and beautiful and was steps from an incredible beach with hardly a soul on it. It was a very peaceful environment with a front view of sunsets and the Caribbean Ocean and a back view of the sunrise and Atlantic Ocean. Definitely bring some produce from the main island, as there isn't really any produce available on any of the small islands. And any local restaurants usually operate on random and unpredictable hours. We were grateful for the groceries we brought with us! The island was perfect for those looking to stay put and relax. I would certainly stay at Idas cottages again as well as recommend them to others!!
Ida is the best! And black point was better than I thought it would be. Best vacation ever. I plan to go back and stay with Ida again, doesn't get any better!
I am so in Love with this place!! ….a low key, peaceful retreat….Ida is priceless….the Island is priceless…and I can not wait to go back….I would highly recommend the Boat rental/with guide for the day…Snorkel and adventures that will last a lifetime….What I loved the most about the Island? being able to walk the beaches every sunrise by myself, quiet, Polite, friendly and carefree people..…beautiful Island….<3
