I am writing or should I say rewriting my review. I had a chance to speak with management company to address the concerns I had and they promptly took care of the missing kitchen items and addressed my other concerns/suggestions. That alone is a plus in my book that there was prompt contact to me regarding the review I had written. My family and I would return in the future. Thank you for your prompt communication. The island is beautiful and the beaches are gorgeous.

summer vacation

We stayed here the week of 7/19 thru 7/26 2014. Overall we were pleased. There are a few things that concern me if I were to rent from here again. First the master bedroom bed was so hard that it was very uncomfortable and I woke up with a backache. I had read a previous review of a comfortable bed and a mattress pad, well that was not the case this particular week. Also, the guest room photo shows a chair near the chest of drawers, where that was not one during our trip. Just a suggestion to put a TV in this room. We had teenagers with us and it would have been nice for them. My biggest issue was the kitchen supplies. It states in the description there are ample where there clearly is NOT. There was no baking sheet, there were only two pots and no blender. It is very hard to cook meals for an entire week for a family of six with so little kitchen supplies. I found no measuring cup either. Otherwise the accommodations were nice. The area and beaches are beautiful.

Owner's Response: We are glad you were pleased with your experience overall. The comfort of a bed is a personal preference. We try to accommodate a range of hard to soft by providing an eggshell cushion that can be removed. As you mentioned, we've had only positive comments from previous renters. Regarding the chair in the extra bedroom, we replaced it twice due to damage and decided not to replace it a third time. As far as the kitchen is concerned, all the supplies you mentioned were in the unit when we stayed there in April. Our management company gives all renters contact information and specifies if you have concerns to contact them. Things like Kitchen supplies will be replaced immediately. We strive to have our renters be 100% satisfied and our management has already replaced the kitchen items you mentioned.

Would Return -- Nice Overall

Good value even at their highest rate during Christmas week. Saved a few hundred compared to comparable units available through Caldwell Banker. This unit could do several more things (beyond fixes such as the water heater done during my stay) regarding maintenance:
1) replace 2 sliding glass doors suffering from condensation between the panes, partially obscuring an otherwise glorious view. They’d likely run a grand a piece, but it should be done.
2) replace bulbs in kitchen ceiling fluorescent fixture and on bottom side on microwave, illuminating the stove top. (The unit has extra bulbs stored but only the basic kind not those mentioned here).
3) Leave a few more kitchen basics in place for tenants (e.g., salt & pepper, cooking oil, dishwasher detergent).
4) Have the agency remove the rather déclassé threat of extra laundry fees. It states: “ONLY the linens of the beds used the last evening and the morning bath towels” will be covered by the cleaning upon departure. With no in-unit laundry facilities, I can’t imagine the owner/agent want the tenants’ memories of the place to be having to leave the unit to wash and dry beach towels, hand towels, wash cloths, etc. the night before departure under threat of extra charges. The region is humid but the winter breeze is preferable to running A/C (which, in fact, saves the owner money). But it also means fabrics get moist. In my case, they did the extra loads without charge which showed class. Now just lose the threat not to.

I was a little concerned about going anywhere in Florida this close to spring break. I shouldn't have worried about Marco Island. It was flat out awesome! Arrived after an easy flight into Fort Myers airport, then a 50 minute drive. The commute was a piece of cake. Felt the tension of daily life melt away as we crossed the bridge and saw the sign for Marco Island. GPS and the provided instructions took us to the management company without issue at all. Grabbed the keys from the lock box and were at the condo in minutes. Getting into the condo was a little confusing at first since we arrived after hours on a weekend, but it wasn't a big deal at all. Once we figured out that there was a "common" key to all the main entry doors the mystery was solved. The condo itself was exactly as described in all the literature. It was perfect. Awesome view over the pool and out to the Golf. Housekeeping had done a great job of making sure it was ready for us. Everything was clean and ready to go. Lots of dishes (although we used mostly just the glasses) and silverware, etc. Comfy furnishings. The beds are comfortable as well. Spent a lot of time on the deck with music playing enjoying a bit of wine while feeling the golf breeze. It has speedy internet to boot. I love this place and would return in a second. In fact, the couple we went with actually ended up staying for 3 additional days because they didn't want it to end. Aside from the accommodations being very nice, the island itself offers tons of water activities and excellent restaurants. Best vacation ever.

No Sunset in April

We have been coming to Marco Island for the past 20 years to visit our retired in-laws, so we are very familiar with the island and the South Seas condo establishment. We found this condo to be absolutely acceptable in its accommodations. However, the design of this condo association is not unlike a canyon, with voices, noises, etc. echoing up from the pool (centered between the two rental high-rises) or echoing below. Further, one cannot see the sun set from this apartment in April or I would think even March. I would highly recommend asking the rental management office regarding this, if this is something important to you - on the beach, facing west...to see the sun set would be nice.

And as for the management office, I found the agent, Karen Peebles, to be lacking in any costumer service skills. My husband had better luck (maybe she was having a string of bad days with me?), but her inability to provide anything more than reasons why she was so busy was unacceptable.

We have been renting our unit since 2004 and have had numerous positive comments and satisfied repeat renters. Since we've been owners, we have continued to update and improve our unit with new furniture, appliances and frequently replacing linens and towels with cleanliness always being our top priority. We have a management company and a homewatcch person on Marco Island not only to help us keep our condo in top renting condition but also to assist our renters if a problem arises. We have always had a good working relationship with our management company. Our unit has a very nice view of the pool and beach from the 7th floor. Many people, including us, enjoy watching the activity around the pool which is a personal preference. Sunsets are amazing on Marco and it is one of our favorite things to do. We supply beach chairs, beach towels and a beach umbrella in our condo so our renters can enjoy the beach and the entire horizon for viewing sunsets 12 months out of the year. As owners we have tried very hard to make our condo clean, vacation ready and enjoyable for our renters. We wish you all the best in your search for a vacation rental that meets all your personal prefernces on Marco Island.

Relaxing Hotel Alternative

My wife and I just returned from using this condo in Marco Island, Florida. This was our first experience with HomeAway.com as a tenant (we rent our summer cottage in Maine through the website, too.) This property is as advertised...great view, recently remodeled, clean and in a gated community. Only Amenities that were a little misleading is "free WiFi available in building" which actually was only available in the other building's lobby (there were a couple of open access points in the building but they were far away and not included in the rental) and the laundry room is actually a community laundry-room. We were using this condo as an alternative to the Marriott; but it was so relaxing and comfortable this get away became more of a mini-vacation.

It was easy to check-in and out with the broker managing the unit. The security guards seemed to be attentive to their job and we felt very safe on the property. There was plenty of parking near the entrance and it was very easy to move our luggage into the property. The property is well-maintained and all 3 elevators were prompt/clean.

The master bedroom bed was very comfortable and had a nice mattress pad. All of the linens and towels were clean and in good shape. We slept great. At night the neighbors are quiet and we were able to sleep with patio door in the master bedroom open. It was wonderful hearing the surf and natural sounds.

The way the patios and building is designed, you have a lot of privacy inside your unit. It is like having your own private 7th story view of the Gulf of Mexico. It was very relaxing during the day to watch the paragliders pulled around the Gulf.

When we return to Marco Island, we will definitely try to stay at this condo again!
