Our spacious 1,560 square feet (145 square meter) 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa enjoys an elevated position above the west coast of Barbados on the Vuemont lifestyle estate. Guests of ‘Island Breeze’ enjoy breath-taking views of the Caribbean Sea, lush gardens and rolling landscapes of the surrounding St Peter district. Our 300 square feet (28m square meter) private patio is brushed by cooling breezes and is accessed from the living area and master bedroom.
‘Island Breeze’ is furnished to the highest quality with our personal touches and artwork, providing a Caribbean island feel throughout. The open-plan, fully equipped, spacious kitchen links through to the dining and living areas, patio and garden. On warm days cool tiling throughout complements the natural breeze.
Island Breeze sleeps a maximum of 6 guests. The main bedroom with king size bed has an en-suite while bedrooms 2 and 3 have a queen and two single beds respectively with a large bathroom with walk in shower. There is air conditioning and ample hanging and clothes space in all bedrooms, and moveable fans.
There is a phone for local calls; broadband access, also TV and a DVD player. Our property managers will greet you and are available to provide a range of additional services and advice. We can accommodate children under 10 years age with prior agreement.
The kitchen is fully equipped and you can enjoy meals indoors or on the patio. For groceries, there is a supermarket 2 minutes by road from Vuemont, while in nearby Speightstown there is a fish market and other shopping. Fresh fruit and produce is also found at road-side stalls and at weekend markets.
There are three pools at Vuemont. The infinity lap pool and jacuzzi are located a short stroll from our front door at the club house. From there, enjoy sun downers gazing across the west coast and glittering Caribbean Sea.
Tennis enthusiasts can enjoy two floodlit tennis courts, also close to 'Island Breeze’. There is a fully fitted gym and walking/running tracks are located across the estate. A naturopathic doctor works on the site, and good medical facilities are available on the island.
Vuemont, including ‘Island Breeze’, is fully wheel-chair accessible, and our drive has space for at least two vehicles. Security is provided by Vuemont estate.
After arrival in Barbados, en route to 'Island Breeze', why not stop for fresh coconut water straight from the nut? Ask the vendor to produce a 'spoon' from the husk then eat the soft jelly inside. For a few dollars you can take away a carton of fresh coconut water - what better with some ice and rum on the 'Island Breeze' patio?
Diverse water and other sports, country walks, tours, sightseeing, history, culture, music shows and festivals, great cuisine - can all be part of your visit to Island Breeze.
For those who seek peace and relaxation, ‘Island Breeze’ will provide a welcome escape. However, nearby Hometown and Speighstown with a wide range of restaurants, bars and excellent shopping are close by should you need a night out or local retail therapy.
The fabulous west coast beaches are all within easy reach. Nowhere is really that far in Barbados….!
You are recommended to rent a vehicle for your stay; there are many taxis as well for those ‘nights out’, but your own transport provides flexibility. The local beverages are excellent – but designated drivers are advisable, please be careful.
Claire, husband Malcolm and their family are Caribbean nationals who have lived and worked in several West Indian countries including Barbados, Jamaica and the Commonwealth of Dominica. Our diverse backgrounds reflect in our lifestyle. We enjoy the island way of life, culture and history and the long hours of daylight year round; wonderful climate and food. At present our careers have some of us living in Europe, others in Australia....but our many 'roots' are firmly Caribbean!
Claire Hendry purchased this villa in 2012
When the opportunity arose to own a home again in Barbados, we jumped at the chance. Island Breeze is finished and set up as if we live there - which, in due course, we will. For now we are happy to share this lovely slice of Caribbean island life with like-minded visitors.
Within it's relatively small land mass, Barbados offers so many interesting things for us to see and do throughout the year. Our interests in music and visual arts are fed by shows, concerts and events that cater to every taste. Here, we have it all - a quiet, relaxed lifestyle on the Vuemont estate and with little effort, and access to the great array of choices that Barbados offers it's visitors - a visual, cultural and culinary cornucopia!
We bought 'Island Breeze' for many reasons. It is spacious and stylish, and because of it's elevated location enjoys cooling breezes that caress the patio and villa much of the year. The privacy, excellent facilities and landscaping, amenities, services and security at Vuemont help to make this a wonderful home location.
Island Breeze is a short stroll to the estate's infinity pool, gym and tennis courts. We enjoy uninterrupted views across one of Barbados' famous gulleys (dry streams) and the cane fields to All Saints Church in one direction, and the Caribbean sea in another.
With all this, we are just 25 minutes from the capital Bridgetown, still closer to west coast beaches, and to the many island attractions. With so many roads, we can easily access all parts of Barbados.
Our home is your home. Come and enjoy. Please treat it with the same love and care!
Wow!!!! Our first trip to Barbados and we couldn't have hoped for a more beautiful, relaxing place to spend our time on this characterful and friendly island.
Island Breeze is aptly named, as the cooling breeze sitting on the delightful verandah was the perfect way to spend an evening after a day in the sun, or to enjoy breakfast whilst watching the humming birds in the well kept garden.
The villa itself is as good, if not better, than the pictures and Claire the owner has very tastefully and lovingly decorated it throughout. It is a beautifully airy and bright home.
We arrived later than we had planned, as our plane was delayed but Franklin was waiting for us and happily showed us around the property.
Both Claire and Malcolm, the owners, went out of their way to help while we there, even giving us tips on routes and places to visit.
We would highly recommend 'Island Breeze' for a most relaxing place to stay.
We stayed at the villa for a week in January . It's a lovely spacious 3 bedroom villa in a Gated community with 2 big communal pools , tennis court and a gym. The villa itself is well appointed and enjoys the "Island breeze", which provides a welcome respite from the heat on the coast.
Both Accra and Sandy lane beach are only a short drive away . We usually went to the beach for the day and came back to the villa to have a relaxing swim and watch the sun go down.
After the hustling and bustling of the west coast, we found it really relaxing to come "home" to the spacious villa .
You do need a car to get you around. But driving it's not too difficult around the island
There is a small supermarket not far from from the villa.
We would definitely recommend this property
We had a most enjoyable stay made on the beautiful island of Barbados. The villa is well equipped and is on a tastefully planned complex of villas and apartments. Relaxing on the back verandah enjoying the cool breezes, the view and a drink after a day at the beach can certainly be recommended. The main swimming pool was a very short walk from the front door and there was also a well equipped gym and 2 tennis courts. Franklyn of Churchfield was great, met us on arrival at the villa and ensured we had an enjoyable stay and Claire stayed in regular touch with us before and during our stay to make sure it all went smoothly and we had a good time.
Highlights included the El Tigre cataraman and swimming with turtles (strongly recommended), St Nicholas Abbey, Heywoods beach (only a few miles away) and Paynes Beach (public entrance down side of 1 Sandy Lane), various restaurants in Holestown (about a 25 minute drive) and a drive down the east coast all the way to Crane's Beach (but beware the strong waves and undercurrents). We did not make it to Oistins for the Friday night fish fry, which many recommend.
A car is a must but everywhere on the island is in easy reach, although the signs and maps leave a bit to be desired especially on arrival if driving from the airport!!!
Overall a fantastic holiday and above everything else I recommend the people of Barbados for making us so welcome and a truly enjoyable holiday for me, my wife and 2 teenage children. I am sure we will be back!
This is a spacious, tastefully decorated villa set in a beautiful resort complex, which has amenities and activities for the whole family. There are floodlit tennis courts, a gym, nature trail and swimming pools.
The villa was well maintained and lovingly decorated; we fell in love with it immediately. The views from the verandah are delightful; visitors will enjoy unwinding with a few sundowners after a relaxing day!
The owner (Claire) was extremely helpful; she was in frequent contact to ensure that the booking process went smoothly and that all went well during our stay. Claire also gave helpful tips on the best places to visit and the most enjoyable island activities. Juliet was also on hand to ensure that any problems were swiftly resolved. Overall, the customer service was excellent.
I would highly recommend this villa for anyone lucky enough to visit Barbados; I can guarantee that you will be delighted with its charms! It is an excellent base from which you can explore the island. I cannot wait to stay here again!!
What a treat to return again for another vacation away from the cold Canadian winter. We were delighted with the many changes the owner had made to an already lovely home. Our favourite was the ceiling fans installed in all the bedrooms as well as the living room. We slept so comfortably that we had no need of the a/c. The lovely shaded porch offered a private, breezy place to enjoy meals or just a relaxing spot for reading and enjoying the view. It is the perfect place to come with friends (we were 2 couples).
We stayed at Island Breeze for 10 days over the New Year. It is a truly lovely villa in an ideal location up above the hullabaloo of the west coast. Great views down to the coast, a pool, tennis courts and fitness centre all within a couple of minutes walk from the villa. The villa itself is spacious and well maintained with all the facilities one might need. The location is perfect (as long as you rent a car) as Holetown is close by, as is the gorgeous east coast too.
All in all we can thoroughly recommend Island Breeze as a great place to relax and unwind and from which to explore Barbados.
Island Breeze provides you with easy access to the magnificent white sand of west coast beaches including Mullins, Paynes Bay and Sandy Lane, also, the spectular scenery of North Point, the east coast and Bathsheba.
St Nicholas Abbey - a carefully preserved plantation estate, steeped in history with guided tours featuring sugar and rum production is 15 minutes from Vuemont; so too, is the Sir Frank Hutson sugar museum and Arlington House, an 18th century 'Great House' museum. Codrington College on the east coast - and the Barbados Museum in Bridgtown also provide great insight to island history. The Barbados Wildlife Reserve and Flower Forest show off the animals and plants of the island. At the reserve, if you do not see them in the wild, you will find the Barbados green monkeys. Harrisons Caves offers a comfortable tour of the world beneath your feet.
Top class golf courses including Royal Westmoreland, Apes Hill -which also houses polo - and Sandy Lane, are all in easy reach.
Should you need a culinary treat, eating options can be found a short ride from Vuemont along the nearby west coast, from homestyle 'Bajan' cuisine to international fare with local ingredients and menus.
Barbados has sailing, boating, surfing and wind-surfing, fishing, scuba diving, submersible dives on 'Atlantis', international music festivals, polo, cricket, horse racing, art galleries, duty free shopping, museums, sports bars, night clubs featuring local and regional music, the ‘Cropover’ festival which marks the end of the sugar cane season…..and so much more.
We and our property managers will be happy to make suggestions if needed on things to do and see, to assist the enjoyment of your visit to Barbados and 'Island Breeze'.
