This Classic Santa Monica Cottage was built in 1939 as worker housing for Douglas Aircraft which was just down the street.
Douglas Aircraft was one of the big reasons why we won World War 2, churning out thousands of military aircraft.
Today, Douglas Aircraft is gone, replaced by restaurants and commercial buildings but this house remains, painstakingly restored to its original spender.
It has comfortable bedrooms, a beautiful kitchen, all hardwood floors, a nice bathroom, and large outdoor spaces shaded by a huge stone pine tree. This is a Rear house on the backside of a lot with 2 houses.
There is a queen bed in the master and a queen bed in the 2nd bedroom.
There is parking for 1 car on the driveway apron.
The location is great. A number of restaurants and parks are walking distance as well as Trader Joe’s Market. The beach is a 15 minute drive and West LA & UCLA are close by.
St. Johns Hospital, UCLA Medical Center, and Cedar Sinai are short drives. Freeway access to the rest of Los Angeles is close by.
I am a retired building contractor and my wife is a former manager of a large Los Angeles hotel. For 10 years now we have been managing furnished rentals in Santa Monica and Marina del Rey. We are close by so if you have a problem, we will take care of it quickly.
Steven Jirucha purchased this house in 2004
This property was completely restored down to the studs several years ago so everything inside is in perfect condition and everything works! Its very clean.
Large Yard areas almost unheard of in Santa Monica.
