Our cabin is set up to accomodate couples, friends and families with 'feel at home' lodging. It's a great place to bring your clubs and play golf or your fishing gear and take advantage of some of the best Salmon, Trout and Steelhead fishing in North America. The cabin is unpretentious on the outside but a 4-star hotel inside with a relaxing view of the Devils Hole bend of the Muskegon river. Our vacation home has been professionally designed and decorated and it shows. We cater to anyone who enjoys spending time in a National Forest. We have all new stainless kithcen appliances, large flat screen HD TV, air conditioning, washer/dryer, outdoor grill, firepit etc. to make your stay more comfortable. Our home is freshly remodeled from top to bottom. It is exceptionally clean and completly furnished with everything you would need for a great stay. Please visit our website for more details...
Keywords: Our 850 s.f. cabin is situated at 2485 Muskegon Blvd on the steep high bank within the Devils Hole Bend of the Muskegon River. Upstream about 3.5 miles from the small town of Newaygo, just below the Thornapple boat launch. Nestled within the Manistee National Forest our small neighborhood shares the Manistee with turkey, deer and black bear. Considered a fly fishing haven for brown trout, rainbow trout, steelhead and salmon, the river is suited to wading, drift fishing, kayaking and canoeing.
Enjoy an outstanding view down to the river while maintaining the feeling of total seclusion as your nestled within 100' tall hardwood trees. We are set up with 5 beds in 3 rooms (1 queen bed, 2 fulls and 2 twins), a fully stocked kitchen, linens and towels. Why stay at a hotel/motel when you can comfortly stay at our home. We cater to those who want to spend a few relaxing days fishing, canoeing, kayaking and golfing. We have fishing guides if you are som inlclined, I would not recommend being able to fish on the river in front of our cabin because of the steep access.
We live in Texas but my wife is from Michigan and we travel up 4-5 times per year to fish and visit her family. I am a Landscape Architect and my wife is in the Insurance industry.
The Owner purchased this bungalow in 2010
We fell in love with this place because of its feeling of seclusion yet a great view of the river. The fishing has no rivals. The locals have made us feel at home and many have already become great friends.
One thing we didnt realize is how many top ranked golf courses and antique shops there are in the area.
Found this adorable cottage and was such a better alternative to any hotel. Did not have time to fish but enjoyed grilling with the sound of the river in the background and the awesome fire pit. Definetly comming back with my boys to enjoy some fishing!
I wanted a quiet cabin on the Muskegon River, out of town, with room enough for two other guys and easy access to good Steelhead / Trout fishing. Devil's Hole Lodge is it!
I wan't looking for particularly nice accommodations, so all the improvement the owners have put into the place was a nice surprise. Great little kitchen, private bedrooms, cozy living room, etc. Everything is new and works perfectly, with the close attention to detail that you'd expect from an architect. The photos, while accurate, don really to the place justice. The owners were a joy to work with and clearly concerned about the quality of our experience.
While it is secluded, the Lodge is only about ten minutes outside of Newaygo -- close enough to pop into the store or go out for dinner -- and about the same to the major boat ramps on the river. For fishermen, it is a great location -- right on the Muskegon River, 30-minutes from the White River, less than an hour from the Pere Marquette. What more would you want?
I will definitely return and encourage anyone looking for this type of rental.
For starters, this cabin was a cinch to find (Google maps takes you to the front door). It was conveniently located near boat launches/guide meet up spots on the Muskegon. It was convenient to Newaygo for groceries/restaurants (we recommend The Sportsman's pub for good food and grog). It had all the essentials: convenient parking for your rig, coffee maker/filters/coffee, kitchen + gear, comfortable beds, a den to relax and watch a flat screen with cable, wifi, outdoor fire pit. It's small but very tidy, and the owner does a great job of keeping the transaction simple and provides great advice on satisfying typical angler's needs. While the local motel (Cronk's) is a nostalgic legend, this spot is far more cozy and comfortable.
I am apprehensive to even write a review about this masterpiece of an accommodation as I wouldn't like it to get too popular. For Kyle, the owner's, sake, however, I feel inclined. Imagine roasting a trout over a campfire high up overlooking the same river you snagged the delicious limbless vertebrate from earlier that day. Imagine wildlife laden walls, a pheasant necktie, a place where bearded men instinctively flock like the swallows of Capistrano. I’m talking about a little place called The Devil's Hole.
What a great place. Our family had such a great stay here. Kyle and Deb are great people. With a great little place to make memories. Every thing you need is there. We couldn't have ask for anything better. I highly recommend this place. Thanks so much Kyle and Deb for a great stay.
The property is just like the photos. We loved our stay at the cabin. Very charming and cute. The owners are very prompt in responding to you over any question. The cabin was perfect for our weekend tubing trip and would gladly come back again.
